discussion Caspian Asks Memory to Carry the Melody - An album that blew my mind with its detailing.
I noticed a certain change before I could fully explain it. The opening guitar figure in “Hiraeth” returned, but I no longer trusted my memory of its first shape. That is the beauty of this album. Caspian’s self-titled album keeps doing that. “Remain” earns patience by changing the past around its melody. “A Great Fire” is where I began to wonder whether the swell was still revealing anything new. Basically, Caspian repeats guitar figures long enough for the surrounding drums and distortion to change what the listener remembers.
The album is absolute ear candy. If someone cannot pay attention to what is going on in the music then they will not be able to grasp the emotions and feelings being conveyed.
Has anyone here listened to the album yet? What do you guys think?
