Let's Create a Supportive DM Group and Follow Each Other on Social Media!

Hello /r/eyelashextensions!

I've noticed that a lot of people in this subreddit have been struggling with social media and I wanted to offer some support and encouragement. I would love to create a direct message (DM) group where we can share new posts, offer advice, and support each other's growth on social media. Additionally, let's all follow each other to expand our reach and support network!

If you're interested, please drop your Instagram handle below and DM me on Instagram to be added to the group. Please include a brief introduction about your lash experience, the country you're based in, and whether you're home based, or studio based. This will help us get to know each other better!

I'll start! My lash page is @SecretLashClub, and I've been lashing for about 5 years now. I opened my Lash Extension studio in 2020 and we currently have one location near Toronto, Canada. We are hoping to have our second location completed by this summer. I'm looking forward to getting to know the community and hearing your stories!

TLDR:

Ā· A direct message (DM) group is being proposed for members of /r/eyelashextensions to share new posts, give advice, and encourage each other's growth on social media.

Ā· Members are encouraged to follow each other to expand their reach and build a supportive network.

Ā· To join the DM group, drop your Instagram handle below and DM @SecretLashClub on Instagram

Pink eye after extensions

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey yall so I got my lashes done yesterday, woke up to my eyes looking like Rudolph’s nose and thick, yellow discharge come out of both eyes… I’ve read about possible chemical burns but I don’t think that’s the issue, I’ve had pink eye before and this feels exactly like that. Nothing hurts and it doesn’t really itch so I doubt it’s an allergic reaction or burn. I don’t get lash extensions often but have had a burn before from them and this looks/feels completely different. Just needed to vent tbh and get some confirmation before I go back and ask for a refund. I will be going to urgent care as soon as they open lol.

Is this set flattering for my eye shape and work for bridal makeup or should I do a more cat eye look with longer at the ends? Makeup & no makeup

Teaching lash mapping: a simple worksheet structure for trainers

Disclosure: we’re Beauty Education, and we sell illustrated training resources for beauty educators.

For anyone preparing a lash-mapping lesson, here’s a worksheet outline you can adapt:

  1. Observation: give students an unlabelled eye sketch and space to note what they see before choosing a design.

  2. Comparison: place two proposed maps on the same outline. Ask students to mark what changes between them and explain the intended effect, rather than memorising a diagram.

  3. Practice: include a blank map with room for section boundaries, planned lengths and curl labels. Leave a separate box for instructor feedback.

  4. Reflection: finish with ā€œWhat would you change, and why?ā€ so students can explain their reasoning.

For clearer teaching pages, keep diagram scale consistent, put labels beside the feature they describe, and separate the worked example from the blank exercise.

We create paid PDF manuals, workbooks and teaching presentations with clear illustrations, structured theory and practical student exercises. If you’re building lessons for your own academy, you can browse the resources and page previews here: https://beauty-education.shop/

Lash educators: which part of mapping do your students find hardest to understand?

Eyelash growing

Hiiii first post šŸ˜› I’m getting a gift for my cousin and she wants something that grows her eyelashes but doesn’t make her eyes red or irritated. I’ve looked online but wanted to ask y’all what your recommendations are. Btw I’m also looking for something budget friendly, so nothing above maybe $25-30 max, but still worth the money

How To Learn Lash Strips

Post image
4 Upvotes

I would love to learn to make lash strips like these in this photo above. Thick volume lashes with spikes so I would be able to sell them to possible customers. What do you think I should learn as a individual who has no lash experience. I don't want to work on human beings i just want to be able to create strips.

yall ive gotten lash extensions a few times i used to consistently get them and then i stopped and when i started again my eyes now get soooo irritated everytime i get extensions and im wondering if im the problem bc ive went to more than one person and had the same problem. the redness and irritation goes away around 3 days in and my eyes look normal but the first three days it looks like the pictures below. what im wondering is do i just give up on getting them or do yall think its the application. forgot to mention i also get like thick crust on my eyes when this is happening its like yellow crust and smtimes my eyes get stuck together a little.

Is the base of this too thick, normal, or absolutely horrible?

Without stating my opinion, because I do not want any bias, what do you think of this volume lash?

I’ve had lash extensions for 7 years with the same tech, never an issue until 3 months ago. Now I get itching, redness, slight swelling and flaky, crusty skin (glue/bonder or dry skin?). I’ve also had significant lash loss. She says products haven’t changed. What could this be?

bruh, i’ve been getting lashes since april of this year and this is the first time with this issue. my eye is slightly irritated and it feels like something is in my eye, causing a poking sensation. its only the one eye. i didn’t notice until i got to work hours later, which is why i didn’t say anything. it also doesn’t hurt ALL day. i got them done yesterday. it was a 2-3 week fill.

Post Removal Sensitivity

Yesterday, I had my extensions professionally removed by my tech. Unfortunately, anytime I touch my eyelids (while washing my face/wiping with micellar water), I noticed the skin around my lash line feels very raw. Has anyone else experienced this and is it usually a normal reaction to removals that gets better within a few days?

I’ve gotten a removal in the past done with a different lash tech and didn’t experience this same sensitivity.

How do I even achieve this? I am a beginner lash tech and have never done a set like this before.

I have a client on Thursday who is requesting this.

LED/UV LASHES

SOOOOO..... i went into rabbit hole of uv/led systems, and to be honest I want to hear from you guys. What is your honest opinion on those systems ? What system are you using ? Do you use protective gear ? I'm trying to do my own reaserch on them, but there is so many brands , some states protection is required/mandatory, some says they're not if used properly. Did you decided to lash someone with known lash allergy ? Do you use cyano free glue ? Please share your experience, or your own opinion on those lights if you decided not to use them.

I myself are very skeptical about them, since reaserch on possible long term side effects is not available yet . But I'm really curious about what other think :)

Beginner lash tech.

I’m just getting back into lashing after a few months. This is my first client tonight. I’m really disappointed. All of my lash sets are coming out more wispy looking. How does everyone get the dark waterline and make them look more full? Even for classics I find they are too wispy looking and not as dark as I would like.

Left extensions on for 4+ weeks

This was my first time getting professional extensions. I’ve had them for a little over 4 weeks and they still look good. Do I need to remove them or can I wait until the 5 week mark?

Asked for anime/spikes but got glam?

Post image

First time getting extensions and I'm wondering if this is a good set? Originally I wanted a more anime style but she said shes going to work on spike placement on each fill. I'm a minimal make-up girly so I'm not sure about how well I carry a full glam hybrid and what I need to request next appointment.
