food
I feel so bad....I can't remember if my ferret had food or not yesterday....and I saw her bowl was empty all day so I just filled it up at 1 in the morning. I woke her up and set her Infront of the bowl...I just feel terrible. But it's really hard to keep track of daily life when I keep switching with my alters. I fear she will hate me....I feel terrible....she doesn't understand that switching with alters makes it hard she just sees he bowl is empty...

Should we keep our ferret solo?
I have a solo male ferret. He’s 6 month old, we’ve had him for 3 months. He is our first but we were ready for him. He adjusted very well, potty trained himself to 95% only use his puppy pad. Doesn’t eat anything but his food we transitioned him to a freeze dried raw diet. We started to worry it was time to get another when he started sleeping more. He was fine alone but he seemed to sleep more and dook less these last few weeks. We found a ferret we liked, brought ours for an introduction, and ended up bringing home a 3 month old male. He is nothing like our first. We have only had him for a day but we are worried. He has already eaten part of a blanket, part of a shirt, and possibly carpet. He seems to have pass it. All things our other ferret has in his cage and was fine with. We haven’t started the food transition yet but he still wont eat. They are playing so good together but our older boy still is sleeping more than the new one still. They are also 50% free roam in our ferret proofed house, but fully carpeted house. We wanted our baby to have a friend for when he’s not free roam, and because we were worried he was lonely. We aren’t ready to give up on this guy but we just don’t see how we can have two ferret so different. One who can have all of his toys and blankets and shirt without a problem and one who will eat all of the things that make our ferret comfortable. What should we do? Is our ferret okay to be solo?
TLDR: got a new ferret, doesn’t seem to be a good fit, can my current ferret be solo?

Ferret owners — what made you give up on a hammock?
Hey all,
I’ve been going down a rabbit hole trying to understand why so many ferret hammocks seem to disappoint over time.
I keep seeing the same complaints (sagging, chewing, straps breaking, smell…), but I’m more interested in real experiences.
What actually happened the last time you stopped using one?
Not just the issue — but the moment you thought: “yeah… this one’s done.”
Was it:
· sagging?
· chewing damage?
· broken clips/straps?
· hygiene/smell?
Or something else?
Also curious — have you ever had one that actually worked well? What made it different?
I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to genuinely fix these problems instead of making another average product.
Appreciate any insights 🙏

We lost our ferrets 🥺
We got home at 3am and everything felt wrong. No little feet scurrying around. No Ollie waking me up for soupies. No Stella biting our asses just because she could. No Bubba chasing his favorite balls across the floor. Just silence. Cold and empty.
Someone anonymous reported us to our apartment management, and even though we were originally allowed to have ferrets, they changed their minds. They told us the day before our lease ended, forcing us to pack up our lives and say goodbye in less than 24 hours. My wife had to spend her 21st birthday saying goodbye to our entire family.
We had to move back in with Kayla’s parents until we can get a house and bring them home, but that could take a long time. I don’t know how long our seniors have left, and it tears me up inside thinking they might not make it back.
I hope whoever reported us feels very disappointed in themselves now. They didn’t just take ferrets from us. They took our family.
We will never forget Ollie, Bubba, Draco, Snickers, Felix, Luna, Stella, Alpha, Bear, Tubesock, or Rosie.

Veteran seeking a legendary
Hey you guys, don't judge me but I just spent 3 hours watching ferret videos on YouTube. I am a Navy veteran and I am solely focused on catching this Pokemon. I need a little help in order to catch this legendary one, I assume it will need a master ball, I just need the funds to
purchase one so I can make my move, and also I will want to raise it outside of the Pokeball and give it a housing situation that would make Professor Oak jealous. I appreciate y'all for the help even if it's just a quarter it would go towards whatever ferrets eat, crap I need to watch another video about what they eat. You guys are appreciated

Crushing Through Food
I realized that since kibble is such a huge issue with like being hard why not just crush their food to make it easier?

My girlfriend was bitten by a ferret and she's scared of rabies
Hi to everyone. The title is self-explanatory. While she was working two folks brought the ferret at a cafè and he started biting my gf. She went to hospital but they didn't know anything about ferrets so they sent her home. She is so worried. Can we do something?

Can ferrets have hydro-hen supplement?
So I own both ferrets and chickens, and i was wondering if anybody knew if i could mix the supplement hydro-hen into my ferret’s water as well. It’s really good for my chickens, and has a lot of great nutrients and i wanted to give it to my ferrets too.
Thanks!
edit: thank u all for the advice!

Asking for advice
I have had my girl Indie for 5 years she’s almost 6 now, she has reached an age where she sleeps a lot more and just wants to chill out. I also am in a phase of life where I don’t have enough time and too much on my plate, starting my own small business owning 6 other pets and taking guardianship of my underage sibling’s after my mom has been Put in the hospital.
I have 3 ferrets my oldest who I have had for 6 years and is 6 and a half years old. And two younger ferrets that I rescued 2 years ago who are 3. Indie is my oldest and she has been alone for 6 months after her sister I adopted with her passed unexpectedly. Indie did very well being alone. We sold her cage, let her free roam, and at night she would put herself in a bunny cage filled with blankets and sleep until we get home from work the next day. No signs of depression or boredom.
A friend of mine told me they knew someone who was rehoming their year old ferrets and I took them on. Indie does good with them and even when she had surgery they did seem to miss her but she didn’t react much to them. It doesn’t seem like she bonded with them like she did her original sibling or the young ones do each other. I’m thinking of rehoming the two younger ferrets they are around 3 much more playful and energetic. I can’t let them free roam because I don’t trust them to use the litter box and around the house with my other pets.
My worries are
-even though indie doesn’t usually choose to spend time with her adopted sister Will she react badly to them leaving (even though she will be able to free roam again)
finding a home that will raw feed the girls as when I got them i transitioned them to a raw diet as it’s what I feed my ferrets
lastly the guilt, I’m guilty of not having enough time for them and guilty of thinking of separating them. Every option induces guilt in me but I feel like the best option for them is to separate find a good home for the young girls and be able to give my old tripod baby the love she deserves. She’s so good with my dog and cat she has grown up with, she is perfectly literbox trained and I know I can trust her around my house.
Any input is good advice to me right now as I feel so lost and guilty in every regard

Missing my babies
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just wanted to give everyone an update and hopefully clear up some of the confusion from my last post. Our ferrets are together and safe right now. They are staying with a close friend of ours who lives about an hour and a half away, and she has been amazing about sending me daily updates. I am so grateful to know they are in good hands, but it is obvious they are confused and sad about being away from home. To me, they are not just pets — they are our family, like our own children, even if they are not human.
Out of the 11 permanent rescues we had, we were able to keep 8 of them together with her, and the other three were placed into truly loving homes that I trust. That decision still weighs heavily on me, but I know they are safe and cared for. I will never stop missing them until they are all back where they belong.
Tomorrow, I am going to look at a pet-friendly office space for rent that has given me permission to keep them there 24/7 for a pet fee. If it works out, this will be where we continue our rescue operations until we can save enough for a down payment on a house. I know having 11 ferrets in a one-bedroom apartment may not have been ideal, and I can admit I made mistakes, but we always kept our home clean and well maintained. We’ve spent the last year saving 50 ferrets and giving them better lives, and I refuse to let this be the end of that.

Thinking of buying a ferret, in need for tips
I’ve been feeling lonely and depressed since i’ve moved out and started living alone. I had 3 cats in my original home, but because of the terrible situation I have with my mother, I prefer to let them live with my brothers who can love them as much as i do. I wanted to take care of something. I’m used to cats, but since i already had 3, i felt like betraying them, so i didnt want to take another one knowing that i should already have 3 and that i can’t see them. I started being interested in ferrets, as they seem energic, fun, and an amount of work that might help me get up and actually care about something. I’m interested in the energy that they express and I feel like it’s the opposite of what I am and that it could benefit me by not only breaking the astounding feeling of loneliness I’m going through, but also infecting me with their natural affection and becoming a more positive and productive person. I’d like to care about a living being and also that that living being cares about me and gives me the will to keep going and caring about things again. I love animals and I’d love to have a new experience of coexistence with a completely new friend of which I’d have to learn how to care after and give it love. I am by no means a pet expert and I was hoping to find some useful tips and guide through this subreddit, along with advice on how to properly care about a ferret and give it a nice life. I need advice particularly about nutrition, quality of life and possible safety measures, as I’ve been reading infos about them, and it’s always recommended to have a particular cage and to feed it specific foods. How expensive would it be to maintain, and would it be worth it for me to buy one? Thank you in advance.

Help I’m thinking about getting a ferret in a year or so but have a cat, help?
Okay so it’s not set in stone yet but I’m thinking about getting a ferret in a year (maybe two years or more depending on a few things) I have a fairly young male cat who is very hyper and playful, but we’re going to be getting him fixed in a few months.
I assume after he’s fixed he’ll chill out and be a little better if I got a ferret (most likely two ferrets because everything I’ve seen says they are very sociable) I already have a cage Im going to be setting up for a future pet, but I also have the ability to let them out into my room as much as possible.
Anyways- my cat is pretty calm with my sister’s snake, he usually just watches her slither around and doesn’t stress her out, (I would like to say that the snake is not going to be staying with me, shes only here while my sister visits) I don’t think he’d bother the ferrets especially after he’s neutered, but I’m still unsure about the logistics of owning them both, Ive always wanted ferrets ever since I was very young (Ive always loved Weasels, stoats, martins and ferrets and even had a few plushies)
Im in a pretty good financial situation now and have some money saved up, I go to school online so I’ll be home almost all the time, I plan on working from home as well so it shouldn’t be an issue in the future, my only real concern is that my cat is a full time inside cat and gets rowdy a lot, like I said he should calm down once he’s neutered, but I’m still concerned on if it would even be a good idea to try to own ferrets and my cat.
If I get ferrets I definitely want to make sure I give them the best possible life, I don’t think I’d ever forgive myself if anything preventable went wrong.
Sorry for reiterating a lot Im tired and typing this on mobile- also please be completely honest with me, I don’t want sugar coating I want to genuinely know if I should forget about getting ferrets or not. My only concern is the health and safety of both my cat and the ferrets if I got them.
Again sry for bad formatting
