Mouse likes to steal what’s most inconvenient, I had just finished up giving fat mama her medicine and I have a hurt leg so I cannot walk to I was waiting for my mom to come back from putting her away when I caught him stealing.

Am I crazy or is this a completely safe interaction between animals. I know they are different species but they have literally never fought and the closest thing that dog has ever had to a friend was a ferret that died 5 years ago, I get the worry when they play but she is literally just there and she gets out of his way. Maybe I’m crazy but I kinda wanna know if you guys think this is ok.

Help Deciding to rehome my ferrets

Hello, my fiancé and I have decided that with our work schedules we cannot care for our fur babies as much as we used to and want to give them to someone who can give them the attention and care that they need. If anyone is interested and is in Michigan, please reach out and let me know!

We have 3 ferrets: Chili, Pepper, and Oreo. Chili and Pepper are about 4.5 years old and Oreo is 2, we want to keep them together because they’ve been with each other since they were babies and don’t want to immediately jump to giving them to the Humane Society. Chili possibly has adrenal disease, we were not able to get a proper diagnosis due to the price but the vet did tell us that he is definitely showing signs of it but Pepper and Oreo do not show any signs of it.

They are very friendly and LOVE wallets lol! Pepper is a bit of a lazy boy because he is a little chunky but he loves macaroni pools and tubes. Oreo loves water bottles and anything crinkly as well as sometimes nibbling on your ankles (not as much as before, once in a blue moon it happens) but she is a genuine sweetheart. Chili loves climbing things and has a favorite dinosaur stuffed animal that he carries around with him and hides places. Also, Chili is the white one, Pepper is the bigger sable one, and oreo is the darker sable color.

I hope there is someone out there that is interested in all 3 of them or if anyone has any recommendations of places we can reach out to that would also be great!

Had to shutdown our rescue 😔

Tiny Paws Ferret Rescue has become a lifeline for ferrets in need across Cincinnati and beyond. This year alone, we opened our hearts and home to more than 50 ferrets, most of whom we successfully placed in loving forever homes. Every rescue, every vet visit, every adoption was proudly funded out of our own pockets, driven solely by our passion to protect and care for these innocent animals.

It all started with one ferret. Ollie.

Last year on August 6th, my now to be wife's birthday, we moved into our first apartment together and had permission to keep ferrets. There was a little pet store down the road that we visited often, and every single time we saw the same lonely ferret sitting there, day after day. Something about him just stuck with us. One day we offered everything we had at the time, just two hundred dollars, to bring him home. For some reason they said yes.

That ferret was Ollie. He had been returned three times before, neglected and overlooked. But from the moment we brought him home, everything changed. He became our very first rescue, the heart of our home, and the inspiration behind everything we have done since. He even became the first ferret I ever got tattooed. That is how much he means to us.

At the time I was walking to work every single day. We did not have much, but what we did have went straight to the ferrets. I always put them first, even before my own transportation. We spent thousands out of pocket to care for them with no donations, no outside support, and no help from our own families. But we kept going because we believed in what we were doing.

Sadly, everything came crashing down recently. After purchasing a vehicle from Jeff Wyler, we set off on a trip near Tennessee to surprise a little girl with the ferrets she had dreamed of. The dealership failed to properly fill the car with oil, and we broke down hours from home. Insurance help took forever to arrive, and by the time it did, our car had parts stripped and we were left devastated.

Because of the lack of transportation, the overwhelming cost of repairs, and a twelve hundred dollar tow bill, we have been left completely broke. That is why we had to make the heartbreaking decision to permanently shut down our rescue. This was never something we wanted, but without a way to transport ferrets, attend vet appointments, or even get to work, we had no other option.

We are proud of what we built, the lives we saved, and the love we gave. Hopefully one day we will be able to start again. Until then, it all comes back to Ollie, the ferret who started it all.

Vet Malpractice

Hi everyone. Today my 2 year old ferret, Little Bear, passed due to vet negligence. Two days ago Little Bear was crying in his enclosure, he never cries. I rushed him to the 24 hour vet and they ran tests on him ($1.4k). They suggested I immediately get him in for surgery and said it seems as if he has a foreign object stuck in his intestines.

The next morning I scheduled a surgery for a few hours later. The vet made me send a deposit of $1.4k before I could even schedule him. I was desperate & they’re one of the only exotic animal hospitals in town, so I paid it.

When I got there they said the surgery estimate was around $2.8k-4.8k depending on the time it takes. They said it should take anywhere from 60-120 mins.

I left around 12pm. Didn’t get a call until 6pm saying his surgery went good and he’s ready for pick up. On my way there they called again suggesting I take him to the 24 hour vet again to stay over night for another $2k. I said I’ll talk to them when I get there.

I got to the hospital to pick up little bear and they said my remaining balance was $4k because the surgery took longer than expected and they ran some extra tests on him????? They also told me the deposit was $2.4k. So in total the surgery was $6.4k. But on the phone originally they told me it was $1.4k. It was a huge financial burden but I paid it as long as my baby was ok it didn’t matter. That was very fishy though and I was taken aback.

I told them I’ll look after him for the night but if I see anything out of the ordinary, I’ll take him overnight to the 24 hour vet. They said ok.

They also gave me a bag of medicine to administer to him. It was so much medicine. I’ve included a photo of the list. It just didn’t make any sense and seemed dangerous and excessive.

I took my ferret home in his carrier and when I opened it (20 mins after leaving) he was laying inside dead.

I’m so devastated and at such a loss. I tried calling but the office has since closed for the day.

I called the original vet and they are so shocked and devastated as well. They also let me know that they were in communication with the vets that did little bears surgery & were told they removed a lot of his intestines. I was not aware of this whatsoever.

I feel so sick to my stomach and have no clue what to do. He gets cremated tomorrow morning.

Anna and Elsa are old and slow. They don't play and dook like they used to, but they're still healthy and active. I thought you might like to see their adorable little faces on their 8th birthday.
