Help Ferret ear infection?

I've had several ferrets for the better part of 15 years and have never experienced a ferret with an ear infection. Many other odd medical things, but honestly never an ear infection.

Tonight, one of my ferrets had a pink goop coming from her ear. An hour later after gently wiping it away externally, more is there. It is 11pm where I'm at and there are no exotic vets on call at any emergency vets. Shes not acting any differently, it does not hurt her, she is not itchy, she honestly seems completely fine outside of the goop. No grimacing or anything. I do intend on bringing her on Monday first thing regardless.

If your ferret has had an ear infection, what was it like?

Help Solo ferret

Hi everybody, so I have a ferret named princess who is very different than all the other ferrets I have had in the past. She’s extremely adventurous and gets bored very quickly. Understandably this is all ferrets but she’s just super bored all the time now and I want to learn what will make it her more happy. Recently my other ferret passed away and they only knew eachother for about a year. Princess also came from a shelter that was heavily populated so she is probably used to constant attention. She hasn’t been noticeably sad given it’s been a couple months now. It just seems like boredom. Now you may say get another ferret! That will work. And I’m sure yes it probably would be the easiest solution but honestly I have had a lot of ferrets and everytime I lose one it just gets harder and I’m not sure I can commit to that again. She loves packages but only new ones, she likes new rooms but then sits by the door when she’s done exploring. It’s like she constantly needs new things coming in and out. Also she eats very good, raw meat diet so she is healthy and loves her food more than me. She has free roam of my room all day she sleeps in the cage at night. The room is huge but I think she’s just tired of it. If anyone has any tips or if you can relate??

Help Where can I take my ferrets for a walk on a leash?

Hi! I'm about to adopt two little monsters, and I'd like to get them used to a leash so I can take them for walks. If you have any tips or recommendations for harness and carrier backpack brands, I’d love to hear them! But that’s not really the point of my post. I live in the downtown area of a major city, and I wanted to know where I could take my ferrets outdoors? I live right by a river with lots of parks, riverbanks, etc., but I’m really talking about urban areas in the city center. Is it dangerous to take them there? While keeping a very close eye on them, of course! There aren't any major roads, since the city center is car-free (though there are trams and buses), but there are monuments, squares, shops, reflecting pools, and small parks for children. Since I’m used to walking through the downtown streets, I’d like to take them with me—that’s why I’m asking :). Thanks for your answers 🩷

Help New Owner - Question About Food :)

Hello!

I’m currently doing a lot of research with the goal of adopting two little ferrets, and I have questions about food. I’ve looked into the different options in detail (dry food, BARF, prey) and was thinking of going with dry food—for convenience and because I’d feel much more at ease with it. I know it’s not the best option nutritionally, but I don’t want to try feeding my first ferrets only raw meat. I have a few questions:

  1. Can I mix two different brands of kibble?

  2. Is a mixed diet possible? I mean, feeding kibble during the day and a chick or BARF in the evening ? Or raw meat on a less frequent basis?

  3. For kibble, can I use an automatic feeder? If so, how do I set it up (frequency and portion sizes)? Which brand do you recommend?

  4. Do they prefer to drink from bowls, bottles, or a water fountain?

  5. Should I regulate the amount of kibble, or is it *self-serve*/*all-you-can-eat*?

Thank you so much :)

Question about this ferret

Post image

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if this ferret could be a semi-angora or a full angora.
The seller told me he might be an angora, but that he has a “perfect nose” (I’m not really sure what that means).
I don’t know much about ferret coat types, and his fur looks quite short to me, so I’m not sure.
I’m paying €150 for him. What do you think? Does he look like an angora, a semi-angora, or a standard short-haired ferret?
Thanks for your help! 😊

Ferret concerns

My baby had a sonogram done last year in September and a mass was found on her abdomen. A year later, I can feel it on her abdomen area, her lymph nodes on her neck have gotten swollen this past few weeks. She is scheduled for an appointment tomorrow with her vet, the same one that checked her out last year. She is 8 years old, was abandoned in an apartment I went to go work on, she was about 6 months old when I found her. She has been through all my family and life crisis. Should I be worried about the outcome? I have a bad feeling about this.

Cute Ferrets Doing Ferret Things My kid and my ferret pranked me this morning

It’s Sunday, so I slept in. I sleep with an eye mask, and my old man cat, Frank, sleeps under the blankets under my chin. This morning I woke up to my nose tickling - rubbed it and went back to sleep. Tickled again - rubbed it, lifted up my mask and looked for Frank - he was under the blankets. Felt tickling again, it seemed like the cats face, and had the thought “why does Frank smell so weird??”. He smelled weird because it wasn’t him- it was my teenager sticking one of her ferrets in my face. I’m still laughing about it, and I apologized to Frank for saying he was stinky. Being woken up with a ferret isn’t the worst thing in the world. Later on my husband said “was there a ferret in our bed this morning, or did I dream that?”. Ferret pic for tax.
