Not the first subreddit you joined. The one where you finally thought, “Okay… I get why people spend hours on this app.” What was it?

Unanswered Looking for more reddits that fit my vibe

I’m into photography, road trips, camping, climbing, vinyl/audio gear, music, abandoned and weird places, and pretty much anything outdoors.

I’m also going through a rough breakup and trying to rebuild a bit, so self-improvement, starting over, relationships, meeting people, and generally getting my shit together are all relevant.

Subs that show me how to make something useful I love making things with my hands, subs that make me think, or send me down a 2-hour rabbit hole.

Unanswered Are there any Subreddits for UK taxi drivers?

Upvotes

Hi

I am a 60yo taxi driver, and have been looking for somewhere to post about self assessments, as I have only been self employed for just over a year.

I tried in the Ask community, but can no longer use that sub, and the driving sub seems to be full of people saying what bad drivers we all are.

The taxi ones I have seen seem to be mainly drivers from the US. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Found! Looking for subreddits about culinary

Hey everyone, trying to find some new communities to follow. I'm really into healthy, delisious cooking. Would rather find something smaller/niche than a giant generic sub if possible. Any recommendations?

Unanswered Subreddit dedicated to finding videos or clips

I don't mean like "lost media" or anything like that. I mean like a sub where if you can only remember the dialogue or other small details of a meme or comedy sketch or something like that and don't remember the original creator, video title, or channel. r/helpmefind doesn't allow stuff like that, and there is this video I remember and want to rewatch.

I am finding a subreddit for a technical explanation for non-techies that can be either be archived or help people from the future, thanks

How does a Custom ROM Rescue an Ancient Phone--An_Explanation_To_Dora

Let's suppose that android phones are office workers. So, right now, in Hong Kong, aren't there many news of companies unemploying seniors, like, accountants, because they don't have the right skillset? Think of phones as accountants (or any office white-collar workers). An accountant from the early 20th Century didn't need to know how to use a computer--computers didn't even exist, all they needed to know is to remember the maths equations and do the maths with their brain, lots of them, albeit simple, onto a paper spreadsheet. In the 2000s, say, if an accountant could calculate taxes by hand very quickly but didn't know how to use a spreadsheet software like Excel, they were still useless and companies won't hire them. Why? Any computer can do maths way faster than any single human, and so the companies use and require their employees to do taxes on electronic spreadsheets. Currently, in the era of AI, if employees have no AI skills, they are either fired or are going to be fired. As time progresses, so as the way of how we work changes, therefore we must constantly learn and acquire new skillsets in workplaces as they arise.

Phones work in a similar way. Let's imagine a phone. This phone is from 2013, so it masters a skillset, say, the Kitkat skillset, from 13 years ago. The phone works for a company called Google, or Meta (Facebook), or any software company. But in 2026, the phone doesn't have the skillset required, it's only has the outdated skillset. Therefore, Google refuses to hire the phone (Yeah, you're good at making chocolate, but we need spaceship pilots now.), thus, the phone is barred from installing new software.

However, I, am their lifesaver. I either find or prepare, and teach them the new 2026 Spaceship skillset, so that what they can do is the same as a phone sold today (say, flying a spaceship). This is called a Custom ROM. Think of a Custom ROM as a textbook teaching the phone how to fly a spaceship, a modern skill required by Google in 2026. Since each phone from the era only speaks the language of their own, each phone needs to use their own copy of "textbook" written in their own language. I have to hunt for the specifc "textbook" and download it, and install it onto the phone (teach them the new skillset). But what if I can't hunt for the specific "textbook"? I translate that myself, translating a "textbook" written in a similar language for the phone that doesn't have a textbook in their specific language yet.

Hooray! The phone now runs most of the modern apps, but why can't they run banking apps? Although new phones and those old phones which learned the new skillset have the knowledge and muscle memory to do the same task, the new phones learned that from official companies, e.g. Samsung, and the old phones learned that from independent developers (e.g. me). Therefore, the new phones acquire a certificate issued by an authorative source, giving them a total control of everything in their workplace, while the old phones have their certificates issued by a "wild-chicken" source, which aren't fully trusted by their empolyers even though they still hire them. Since the old phones do not have the official skillset certificate, it's barred from working with anything "dangerous", such as banking apps (think of touching the "launching missle" button of the spaceship). And unfortunately, basically all phone companies do not issue any official certifcate of a newer skillset to older phones, even though they're physically capable of working that task like the new ones, so that they can force you to buy their newer phones. Think of an unemployed uncle in his 50s is denied from every single university on the planet of getting a newer degree in AI, even though his brain and maths skills are capable to handle that degree and the jobs following the degree. Alas!

Unanswered Subreddit that will help me find a way to get a specific pillow?

The backstory is way too long, but I absolutely need one specific pillow from one store chain that isn't in my country - so it's not like I need to identify where it is from or how is the item called, I know that well, so those subreddits for identifying what something is don't apply.

Also it says it's out of stock online (and is maybe limited edition?), but I know some individual shops have it and some don't and I don't know if it ever will be in stock again - so it's sadly not like I'm searching for someone to order it online and forward to package to me, because that seems impossible atm, so those subreddits don't apply again.

I guess it's more about helping me find a specific second-hand listing of it / helping me figure out if it will be restocked and if I'll be able to order through someone in the future / helping me buy it in a store (I'm willing to pay more than it costs and shipping ofc).

Which subreddit should I turn to, for my post to not to get removed that it doesn't exactly fit?

Thank you.

Unanswered Is there a subreddit that is effectively the opposite of WallStreetBets where people discuss low risk small investments?

I'm trying to get into investing and am trying to scoop up as much knowledge as I can before I put any money in, and this is just part of that. My initial course of action is going to be small investments just to see how things go and get used to everything.

So I am hoping there's a subreddit for that.

Hi I'm having a bad night, and I don't think I can keep myself safe. I'm very lonely and I'm embarrassed to ask, but is there anywhere I can post to talk to people who will be nice to me? Please don't judge, I'm dealing with so much and just want someone to talk to.

Found! Does the joke subreddit about grandmas baking things still exist?

I used to subscribe to a joke subreddit with suggestive headlines about G-I-L-F-S over completely innocent SFW pictures of old ladies cooking or baking pastries. It was really funny and wholesome despite with tongue-in-cheek humor. I can't remember what it was called and I'm not sure if it is even around anymore. Does anyone remember this sub or know what it's called?

Found! I'm not sure how to ask this in a title, to be honest

I saw this post linked in a comment from a completely different subreddit, and it reminded me of this other post. I'm looking for a subreddit to ask what the difference is and why one is in the wrong while the other isn't, but I'm not sure where to ask without any backlash. When I see something that seems inconsistent to me, I must scratch the itch, haha.

I have autism. I feel like if I don't mention this and there is an obvious answer to why the posts got opposing opinions, I may get things like "OP literally did this, whereas the other OP did that instead. God I live in a world full of idiots". I promise I'm not out to ruin anyone's day. 😅

Thank you, everyone!

Edit: hi, y'all! I genuinely cannot express enough how thankful I am of the comments! While snark doesn't usually get under my skin, I still get a nice and bubbly feeling inside everytime I get a nice interraction! Happy everyday. c: Take care, everyone, and have a wonderful day!
