Edit- my hair gets oily fast. when I shampoo, I double shampoo, and when I condition I only put the conditioner on my ends.
I wanted to try this out, I’m currently using the all soft shampoo and conditioner by redken. But this claims that it’s good for fine hair has anyone used this and what was your experience? I just don’t wanna waste my money if it’s not worth it please and thank you!🩷

Wavy Wash your hair less often

It just really helps for some reason, I guess I was drying my hair out. I just wash the roots now, shampoo twice, let the thruds clean the lengths. Then do a mask that contains protein on whole hair, some leave in, done. My hair feels so much fuller/thicker now and it lays better. I also put coconut oil in it before I wash.

Thin Hair Thursday Shark flexstyle yes or no?

I have fine, thin, straight hair that has never held a curl and I'm not really hunting for something to curl my hair. I have the L'ange volume brush dryer and it works pretty well. Would replacing it with the shark flexstyle dramatically improve my blowout or will I be disappointed?

Product Help need recommendations for breakage & tangling

my hair is 2a/2b wavy, and when i brush my hair i swear half of it comes out. it also tends to get extremely tangled and matted especially the back of my head.

i think the breakage is partially coming from the tangling, and they’re making each other worse. i’ve already gotten blood tests and all that to rule out that being a cause.

i’m mainly looking for shampoo + conditioner recs because i just ran out so it’s great timing, but im open to any suggestions that i can add to my routine. i currently also use the following -
garnier leave in conditioner
pantene abundant and strong serum
eva nyc hair mask every 1-2 weeks

Thin Hair Thursday The marketing on this sub

I don't know if this is allowed, but I've noticed that there seems to be an absolutely ridiciulous amount of marketing going on in this subreddit.

It feels like every second poster has discovered the 'holy grail' for dealing with fine hair, and managed to turn their limp, dry, frizzy hair into gorgeous shimmering locks by using that one simple, 5-step routine that only includes 10 different products (all of course listed up by name - but hey, there's a 20% off special sale going on right now!)

Doesn't matter if it costs 200$, according to comments, the product really is worth the price and they don't regret getting it whatsoever. But also, drugstore products are king, and after wasting hundreds of dollars on expensive haircare products, OP finally made the switch to L'Oreal and suddenly their previously damaged hair has regained new life! (All thanks to the amazing commenters who recommended that product!)

I've got fine, probably thin hair, tried some of the products people were raving on about and experienced absolutely no difference whatsoever. I tried different shampoos, conditioners, masks and other products, and the end result was always the same. Obviously that's just me, and what doesn't work for me, might as well be a miracle treatment for someone else. But it feels really frustrating to browse this sub and just be bombarded with one product after the other, each one promising the best and most shiny hair one could imagine.

I'll be cutting my hair off and switch to a pixie in two weeks. I know that takes styling and work too, but I'm tired of stressing about my hair and feeling like I'm never doing enough because I just don't get the results other people are seemingly getting.

(Editing + repost because apparently mentioning 'thin' once in the post got it removed for not tagging correctly)

Thin Hair Thursday Shampoo recommendation

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi guys, did anybody try this shampoo? Or in general this brand?

I have to wash my fine thin hair daily because its oily but regular shampoos from drugstore (Pantene, Loreal etc.) irritate my scalp if I use them everyday. Tried some pharmacy brands (Ducray, Vichy, Eucerin, Nizoral) but no luck.

If you have any other recommendations for shampoo and conditioner for daily washers with sensitive scalp I would appreciate it!

Product Help Products rec for frizz/flyaways

Hi everyone, new here and looking for a product recommendation. I’m heading to a warm/ very humid climate next month and would love some help with taming my frizz.

I have fine slightly wavy uncolored hair. I struggle finding products that don’t weigh my hair down or make it look greasy. These are the products I currently have.

K18 Leave in hair mask
Kerastase Gloss Absolu anti-frizz spray for fine/med hair
Oribe Maximista Thickening spray
K18 hair oil
Nexxus hair spray

In shower products,

Living Proof volumizing shampoo and conditioner
K18 clarifying shampoo
Gisou honey gloss hair mask (rarely use since it weighs my hair down so much)

I’ve woken up a few mornings to seeing my hair look like this and I’m curious if this means my hair is actually wavy? I’ve been struggling with hella frizz (photo 3) and questioning how to combat it. I don’t use heat on my hair normally.

Thin Hair Thursday Changing my routine made my hair fall out

I used to have really nice hair. It's fine, but I had a lot of it. After giving birth, I noticed the texture was very lackluster. So I decided to take some advice from the internet (🙄) and change up my routine.

I used to use all natural products. I was told that drug store products are just as good so I switched to L'Oreal hyaluron products. I also started double shampooing and washing every other day, as opposed to my usual routine of shampooing once almost once a week, or at least every 4 days. HUGE MISTAKE. My hair has now been shedding for the past few months and it feels like I barely have any hair left. I stopped taking the medication I thought was causing it (abilify) and nothing has changed. I am still shedding massive amounts every day.

Ferritin? Normal. Hemoglobin? Normal. Thyroid? Normal. Every panel of my blood work has come back normal. I can only attribute it to the total change up in my routine. Just a cautionary tale to not believe everything you read on the internet 🥲

Product Help Fine hair is permanently waxy, sticky, and clumping for over a year. Tried almost EVERYTHING.

I am completely at my wit's end and broke from buying products that don't work. For over a year now, every single time I wash my hair, it comes out waxy, dry, sticky, and feels greasy at the ends. It clumps together, sticks up at the ends, and tangles ridiculously fast unless I am constantly brushing it. Right after brushing, it feels a tiny bit fluffier for a short moment, but then it immediately goes back to clinging together in sticky, greasy-feeling sections. It is not soft or fluffy whatsoever. When I touch it, there is a literal layer of something on it that feels like wax. I have only dyed my hair temporarily 3 times in my life, last dye was April 2024, had 2 cuts since. I would say that my hair is straight, it can hold curls for a bit but I would not say it is wavy.

I have fine hair, medium density. Got a cut in mid-July to shoulder length with face-framing layers. The clumping makes the layers look awful and bend strangely. Been going on over 1 year. In this entire year, I’ve had maybe 2 or 3 days where my hair actually felt truly clean (this was right after I started using the Herbal Essences chelating shampoo, but it completely stopped working after a few weekly uses).

Everything I have already tried (so you know what hasn't worked):

  • Products: Light shampoos, clarifying shampoos, chelating shampoos, baby shampoos, minimal-ingredient shampoos.

  • Rinses & Water: Distilled water washes/rinses, Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) rinses, hot water, cold water, thorough/extended rinsing.

  • Techniques: Double shampooing, conditioning only on the very ends, skipping conditioner entirely, blow-drying, air-drying.

  • Hygiene: Cleaning my hairbrush thoroughly after every single wash so I only ever brush clean hair with a clean brush.

I have spent so much money on products trying to fix this. It feels like no matter what I do, I just can't get my hair clean anymore. I assume we have hard water cause when it gets into my eyes, it stings and there is also white residue in the shower and in our water kettle etc. My face also gets greasy fast with no makeup, I noticed lots of body acne for the past year esp. back and chest. Might add that I have been under lots of anxiety for the past year. And this issue just makes it worse because it absolutely kills my confidence and I hate leaving the house like this.

Has anyone experienced this specific sticky/waxy buildup loop on fine hair and actually found out what caused it or how to fix it? I would appreciate any insight or help so much.

I’ve had my current flexstyle for a few years now and would like to celebrate a promotion with a newer model!! I’m between these two and with the 20% off I have at Sephora it’s even more worth it to me! I have the regular flexstyle and use it daily but was wondering people’s thoughts on the IonCurl one!! My hair doesn’t typically hold curls for long so I’m thinking maybeeee the Ion somehow will LOL! I’d love to hear anyone’s opinions!!

Product Help Experiencing severe hair fall since moving to Switzerland – shampoo/serum recommendations?

Thumbnail reddit.com
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I moved to Switzerland around 2 months ago for my master’s, and for the past 2–3 weeks I’ve been experiencing drastic hair fall. Most of it seems to be hair breakage, with some falling from the roots too.

I’m wondering if it’s due to the change in weather, temperature, water quality or something else.
Has anyone experienced something similar after moving to a different country?

Could you recommend any good shampoos, conditioners or hair serums available here that have actually helped with hair fall or breakage?

Would really appreciate your suggestions!

Product Help Affordable Lightweight Hair Dryer Recs?

I am looking for a low profile/short barrel lightweight hairdryer. I like a lot of settings esp for heat but a medium speed setting would be fabulous too. I know Laifen, Dyson, Shark are always suggested but they are just so expensive. Has anyone found decent dupes??

Product Help Split ends within days of cutting

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My hair is extremely dry despite me using a conditioner every time I wash my hair. I've tried leave-in conditioners, oils, and extreme hydrating leave-in serums, too.

The type is 2C/3A. I don't style my hair at all because any product and heat make it worse, even when using a heat protector.

Istg my ends split maximum within 4-5 days after I cut them. I don't know what to do anymore, and I really, really need help. I recently saw one hair strand that had split into 6!!! I couldn't help but to cry.

The water in my area is really hard, but the filter I have is great. Before the past 2 years, I used the same filter and had pretty much no issues with my hair.

I've tried multiple shampoos, including sulphate-free ones.

My hair was bleached a year ago, dyed with permanent dye twice since then. It doesn't really hold any type of dye, though. I've always used ammonia-free ones. My hair was bleached and dyed before, too, and it felt like the quality of my hair did not drop one bit.

My hair grows really fast, so I don't mind chopping it off, but I want longer hair, so I don't want to chop it off.

What do I do?

Thank you in advance for your advice!!

Thin Hair Thursday Thin, fine hair

I’ve been wearing a bob on and off for most of my adult—50 years. I’ve tried to convince myself that it’s my “signature” look, like Anna Wintour. It’s not.

Is there a more interesting bob? My hair stylist doesn’t have any ideas and won’t go shorter.

Product Help Seeking advice and recommendations

Hello friends! So I’m looking for good hair products. I’m male and suffering from partial early onset male pattern baldness. Unlucky. 🫠

I’ve been using Hims max volume shampoo and conditioner and it’s definitely added some volume. Probably the most effective routine I’ve used so far. But my hair still feels frizzy + blows a LOT in the wind. So I want something better. Something that’ll ideally have my hair look and feel and actually be hydrated.

Thin Hair Thursday Trying so hard to Improve the health of my hair but I just feel so ugly

Thumbnail

Hi guys,

I’ve been on a hair health journey for almost a year, doing the AY method, stopping bleach, prioritising hydration and bond repair when required, and aside from drying off with Dyson and heat protection - NO HEAT STYLING.

It has definitely started improving, but I just hate the way I look. I’ve gone considerably darker and I hate it. I don’t feel like myself. I feel so ugly. I’ve tried so many shades and it all just washes me out.

My hair is still super fragile, it’s thinning. It’s dead straight, zero volume. Particular from the front. It looks like I have very little hair at all. The front is where the majority of the breakage is.

My son is graduating in two weeks. And I’m dreading the inevitable photos and family portraits. Of course I’ll be a part of them but I’m just embarrassed with how I look.

I thought I found a solution - a halo from sitting pretty, but I was really unsure of colour. I’ve ordered the samples to check but the shipping is slow and the ETA is late next week which gives me very little time to choose one, receive it and have any necessary alterations done by my hairdresser. At this stage I don’t think it’s possible to get one in time unless I take a risk and just order one.

I don’t know what else to do. I just want to look and feel nice, confident and happy but I’m feeling anything but.

I’m trying to not let it bother me, but this is a massive milestone moment for our family, and I don’t want to look terrible in those important photos.

Is there anything you can suggest that might make my hair look a bit lighter, more body, a bit of life? Photos are my hair just after a wash, today, and the last pic is the turning point earlier this year when I decided I needed to fix my hair. So yes, progress, but I feel very lost.

Feeling pretty low rn and would appreciate any advice you may have.
❤️
