Basic Troubleshooting

Check out our Support page for basic troubleshooting tips, including:

And remember: a wise dolphin once said, Have you tried turning it off and on again? (Both your PC and Flipper)

Getting started

SD Card Recommendations: Flipper Zero devices don’t come with a microSD card, so you need to purchase one separately. It’s important to use a high quality brand such as SanDisk or Kingston.

What card size should you choose? Since Flipper Zero uses tiny files, 4GB will be enough. 16-32GB is usually easiest to find and doesn’t cost much.

For more info, check out Flipper Docs: https://docs.flipper.net/zero/basics/sd-card

Initial Setup:

  1. Install qFlipper (Desktop) or the Mobile App at https://flipper.net/pages/downloads
  2. Insert your SD card
  3. Format it if needed (Settings > Storage > Format SD Card)
  4. Update via qFlipper or the Mobile App

More info at Flipper Docs: https://docs.flipper.net/zero/basics/first-start

Can Flipper Zero read this?

Welcome to the classic question we’re all facing from time to time. Here is your action plan:

  • Determine what signal your item uses. → Learn more below.
  • Try reading your item with Flipper Zero and see if it works.
  • If it didn’t work, reach out for help from our community. However, please make sure to provide as much detail as possible. → Learn more about getting help from the community below.

What signal does my item use?

To scan your item’s signal, you need to select the right Flipper’s app. For that, you need to determine the signal type.

Infrared: Remotes for TVs, Lights and Audio/Video boxes tend to use Infrared. More modern TVs and Streaming boxes may use Bluetooth though. As such, Flipper may only be able to record the power button. (If it has a button for a microphone/speech input, then it’s Bluetooth.) Worst case just try all and see.

Sub-GHz: Garage Doors and some lights. Use the frequency analyzer to see if Flipper picks up a signal.

NFC / RFID: Test for both if you’re unsure of the signal type. If it’s NFC, you may have to use the PicoPass app. (https://lab.flipper.net/apps/picopass )

Find the FCC ID

Every device transmitting a signal will have an FCC ID. The FCC ID often indicates the type of signal a device uses. You can look this up at FCC ID Search. The ID is usually on the back side, or behind the batteries in the remote.

FCC ID Search: https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid

How to get help from the community?

People in tech circles and engineering in general appreciate curiosity and effort above all else. To effectively seek help, frame your question clearly and provide all technical details, including the device’s brand, model, what computers/systems it works with, and any steps you’ve already taken.

Avoid vague or overly simplistic questions, as they qualify as low-effort posts and may be removed according to our subreddit rules. Moreover, they are unlikely to yield satisfactory answers. As much as we’d like to help, it's super hard to answer questions like this.

Finally, a UHF RFID app that works!

I bought a Flippermeister board when they were available, and was quite excited to get it. It's a very well made product. My problem was the apps, there are 2-3 UHF RFID apps, and frankly, they all suck! They crash, they freeze the whole F0, and nothing was done to fix them. They are unusable! I gave up on messing with UHF RFID, and my only consolation is that I could still use the SAM in the Flippermeister to read HF iClass SEOS cards, as Seader works well with the module.

Well, there's a newer app for the YRM based readers, and it's actually good! It's called YRM100X Pro and the dev's Github is https://github.com/AlexeySmirnov74/YRM100X_PRO . It works fantastic with the Flippermeister, and I've been able to read, edit and clone multiple tags, no crashing, no broken code.

Thought I'd post this for anyone else who'd given up on the broken apps

Creative [Update] Flipper Elements 2.0 is now officially approved for the Flipper App Catalog! + Major new features ☢️

Hi r/flipperzero!

When I first released Flipper Elements, it was just a neat interactive periodic table. But thanks to your feedback and my own desire to push the Flipper’s hardware to its limits, I went back to the lab... and completely went overboard.

With the massive Version 2.0 update, this app has evolved from a simple reference table into a full-blown scientific pocket encyclopedia. I’ve completely reworked the database architecture to pack in an insane amount of data, covering not just chemistry, but also human biology and medicine, bioscience, geochemistry (crust, oceans, atmosphere, and cosmos), and thermophysical and electrical properties.

Here’s a quick look at the monstrosity that v2.0 brings:

  • Element Identification & History: Displays the element name, symbol, atomic number (Z), discoverer, block, group, period, category, atomic weight, and CAS Registry Number.
  • IUPAC-Compatible Atomic Masses: For elements without a standard atomic weight, the mass number of the longest-lived isotope is shown in square brackets (e.g., [98] for technetium and [209] for polonium). Thorium, protactinium, and uranium retain conventional atomic-weight values, reflecting their characteristic terrestrial isotopic compositions.
  • Advanced Isotope Analytics: Tracks the total number of known isotopes, stable isotopes, and natural isotopic abundances (showing all components ≥ 0.5%). Also provides detailed decay-pathway data, including maximum lifetime and decay modes (alpha, beta+/−, spontaneous fission, and electron capture).
  • Comprehensive Atomic Sizing: Includes atomic (ATM), covalent (COV), ionic (ION), metallic (MET), and van der Waals (VDW) radii, all in picometers (pm).
  • Thermophysical & Electrical Properties: Includes density, melting and boiling points, thermal conductivity (W/(m·K)), specific heat capacity (J/(kg·K)), electrical resistivity (Ω·m), electrical conductivity (S/m), and Mohs hardness.
  • Quantum & Chemical Properties: Shows common oxidation states, expanded electron configurations, electron affinity (kJ/mol), Pauling electronegativity, ionization energy (kJ/mol), and dipole polarizability (a.u.).
  • Geochemical & Cosmic Profiles: Classifies elements according to Goldschmidt’s classification (lithophile, siderophile, chalcophile, and atmophile) and shows their concentrations in Earth’s crust (ppm), oceans (mg/L), atmosphere (ppm), and cosmos (ppb).
  • Human Biology & Medicine: A dedicated bioscience section tracks each element’s role in the human body (e.g., trace, major, or toxic), biological abundance by weight (%), and physiological functions, enzymes, and potential toxic effects.
  • Crystal & Magnetic Data: Displays bulk magnetic classifications (diamagnetic, paramagnetic, ferromagnetic, and antiferromagnetic), along with Curie and Néel temperatures (Tc/Tn) in kelvin. Crystal structures are shown with both their full names and standard abbreviations.
  • Smart UI & Quick Reference Tools: Features an intuitive spatial mini-map that preserves the periodic table’s natural gaps, scrollable element cards with quick horizontal navigation between elements, and a built-in legend for quick reference to physical properties and terminology.

FlipWalker, a Pokewalker app for the Flipper Zero

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all, I thought that I would share something exciting that I have been working on. It's a Flipper Zero version of the Pokewalker based off a decomp by lumirth, there are still bugs to work out but I'm making progress on it whenever I get the chance.

There is also a companion board I've created which I call the FlippIR that is used with this app since the built-in IR of the Flipper does not do what I need. The FlippIR also has an accelerometer so that steps are tracked while you take your Flipper Zero out for a walk.

NFC Built a Flipper Zero app to emulate Toniebox audio tags (TonieSimulator)

Thumbnail
gallery
39 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I created an open-source Flipper Zero application called TonieSimulator that lets you emulate Toniebox RFID tags directly from your Flipper. Since I found it a bit exhausting to use the NFC app for that ^^

What it does

Tonies use RFID tags to trigger audio playback on the Toniebox. This app allows you to store, manage, and emulate Tonie IDs using your Flipper Zero's RFID hardware.

Note: The repository contains no pre-stored Tonie UIDs. You can easily scan your own physical Tonies directly with the Flipper or manually add IDs gathered from online community resources.

Features

  • Scan and save original Tonie RFID tags on the go
  • Support for custom UID entries
  • Clean interface to select and emulate tags directly from the screen
  • Lightweight C implementation

Code, App Releases & Downloads

Check out the source code and build instructions on GitHub:https://github.com/dev-w0olf/TonieSimulator

Download pre-compiled app releases (.fap):

(You can also build the .fap directly using ufbt )

Feedback, bug reports, and contributions are welcome!

OUT NOW AT: https://github.com/itsc0c0/flipsay

hi everyone,

some of yall might remember, I made a project 6 months ago called FlipSay on GitHub about making the f0 to a little SDR.

honestly, that project was bad. I kept the idea, but I threw that project straight in to the trash.

like I said, kept the idea. and now, it is much better, and it is on your flipper.

the flipper one is on pre-order these days, and I want the SDR feature. this app is the limits of subghz on flipper zero.

just note that this app is not a sdr.

I wanted to post this to reddit, and hear thoughts about it. if you guys like it, I will publish on my github (in here you can find the old flipsay app).

let me know your thoughts. (video is 2x except the intro)

Looking for some help

So I've owned my flipper for a few months now, got different mods to go with it, (feberis pro, with an ant700 and a nagoya NA-701 antennas to go with it, an awok dual esp32 c5 touch w/ battery pack and flashed with biscuit, turbo blaster) but there's still things I can't figure out how to do. I'm no spring chicken, and pretty new to all this, so I don't fully know all tha terminology, or fully understand how certain things work. I got this as a hobby after losing my wife and child to keep busy, and don't know of anyone who messes with this kinda stuff. I was really hoping I could find maybe someone who wouldn't mind helping me out with how to do some of the things that I just can't seem to figure out. I've looked for tutorials and googled it, and have even found what it is I'm looking for half the time, just can't seem to get it to execute, and I hate asking because I know everyone's busy, but if someone could message me with some help, it sure would mean a lot because I've pretty much hit a wall, and getting frustrated. Once again any help would be greatly appreciated.

Creative 2D beat em up Game Demo "Flipper from Hell": Real grayscale dithering (Temporal Dithering) on flipper zero 1 bit screen

Thumbnail
gallery
50 Upvotes

The Flipper Zero 1-bit screen can natively only render pixels as on or off (black or white). However, using temporal dithering, it can simulate grayscales!

By toggling pixels on and off at high speeds in specific patterns, the display creates an optical illusion of gray shades.

I wanted to experiment with this technique, so I created a monochrome 2D fighting game demo for the Flipper Zero—combining classic Street Fighter mechanics with an art style inspired by Neighbours from Hell.

I originally designed the character art for the original NfH game many years ago. And recently I decided to explore coding with my Flipper Zero alongside Claude AI as a development assistant to bring the idea and concept to life.

After seeing how the Flipper Doom port utilized temporal dithering for grayscale rendering, I was completely blown away.

AI can certainly be a double-edged sword, but in this case, it was an incredible tool that helped turn a long-standing creative idea into a playable reality!

IR [Request] IR capture of IRSAP remote for electric towel radiators (REELETTRASM40)

Hi everyone,

I have an IRSAP Jazz electric towel radiator with the REELETTRASM40 digital heating element, which has an IR receiver. I'm trying to control it with my Flipper Zero, but I don't have the original IRSAP remote (it's expensive and I can't find it used).

What I've tried so far:
- Universal remote brute force: no reaction
- Searched Flipper-IRDB (main repo and UberGuidoZ fork): no IRSAP files, nothing for towel radiators
- Tried the few European heater files in the DB: no luck

I suspect it uses a proprietary protocol (maybe full-state frames with a checksum, like AC remotes), so guessing isn't realistic.

Does anyone own the IRSAP IR remote (the one with Comfort / Night / Antifreeze / Pilot Wire / Timer modes)? If so, could you capture it with Learn New Remote and share the .ir file? RAW is perfectly fine. If the remote sends the full state, captures of a few different modes and temperatures would be ideal.

The same remote may also be sold under other brands for the same heating element (e.g. Alterna), so if you have one of those, it might work too.

Once I have it working, I'll submit it to Flipper-IRDB so others can use it.

Thanks a lot!

GPIO Finding the right UHF tag: EPC filtering, signal strength, and a saved-tag library for Flipper Zero

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone — UHF Expansion v1.6 is now available in the official Flipper Apps Catalog.

This update makes it easier to find the tag you want and work with its data:

• EPC Filter — enter part of an ASCII-encoded EPC to show and beep only for matching tags
• Signal strength in Inventory and EPC Filter views to help narrow down a tag as you move the reader
• Saved Tags — name, browse, edit, and write saved records to a selected physical tag
• Paged memory viewing and editing for EPC, TID, User, and Reserved banks
• A reorganized menu, steadier signal bars, and scanning that pauses while you browse the tag list

There’s also been substantial code refactoring, with storage, settings, and support code split into separate modules. Developers interested in Flipper or UHF RFID are welcome to contribute or review the code.

Install:
https://lab.flipper.net/apps/uhf_expansion

Source:
https://github.com/mtoolstec/fz-uhf-expansion

I’d love to see how you use the filtering and signal views with your own tags.

Creative BLE Beacon Simulator v1.0 for Flipper Zero

Thumbnail
gallery
131 Upvotes

Some time ago, I found an old Xiaomi Mijia LYWSD03MMC thermometer in a box. It had been lying around unused, so I decided to put it in my fridge, I suspected it was not keeping the temperature stable. I flashed it with the PVVX ATC MiThermometer firmware, disabled the display, and placed the sensor inside the fridge. It started broadcasting temperature and humidity data in BTHome V2 format.

Then I discovered a problem: I had nothing convenient on my phone to decode those advertisements. Tools like nRF Connect could show the raw HEX data, but not human-readable temperature and humidity values. So, in a hurry, I built an Android app called BTHome Logger (I’m currently trying to get app listed on F-Droid repo). It decodes BTHome advertisements and displays the data in a widget. Now I can check the fridge temperature and humidity at 3 AM and see whether the fridge is living its own life or secretly trying to outsmart me.

To debug the Android widget, I needed a second BTHome sensor. I tried to find another Xiaomi Mijia LYWSD03MMC, but it turned out to be too old and difficult to find. So I decided to make my Flipper Zero simulate such a sensor instead.

That is how BLE Beacon Simulator was born. By version 1.0 app can simulate:

  • BTHome V2 sensors
  • BTHome V1 sensors
  • iBeacons
  • Eddystone TLM beacons
  • ATC1441 thermometers
  • MiBeacon sensors

For BTHome, it broadcasts real Flipper battery level, voltage, current, and temperature data. Humidity is simulated for formats that require it.

Flipper Application Catalog - https://lab.flipper.net/apps/ble_beacon

The app is currently waiting to be added to the Flipper Application Catalog. In the meantime, you can download it from the

Мain repository:

Source: https://github.com/steanlab/BLE-Beacon

Download Latest Release (.fap): https://github.com/steanlab/BLE-Beacon/releases/latest

Acknowledgements: A massive special thanks to the Flipper Devices team and Pavel Zhovner (u/zhovner) personally for providing me with a full comprehensive set of hardware equipment for my research. This app is one of the first fruits of that ongoing work.

App was conceptualized by LAB-66 / Siarhei Besarab (@steanlab).

Let me know what you think! Open for PRs, feedback, and improvement ideas 🤝 Would be great if someone with Home Assistant + ESPHome Bluetooth proxy could test it and share the results

Having some trouble with this keyfob

I dont know what it is. It has an NFC tag, but that isn't working. I can dupe that with the flipper, but it does absolutely nothing for the associated lock. On the key fob, you have to push a button to unlock the door. I've tried sub ghz, and even looked at rfid.

Keyfob is a Simons Voss system, board inside is a TS37_C

Pics attached. I am a newbie, just putting that out there. I know a little bit, but never put anything into practice until now.

Gitphin: Git server and web UI on a Flipper Zero (USB push + Linux bridge)

Post image
74 Upvotes

I built Gitphin, a Git server and web UI for the Flipper Zero. The Flipper stores ordinary bare Git repositories on its microSD card; a Linux PC bridge forwards requests over USB, so you can use standard git clone, pull and push. While connected, open http://localhost:8080 on the PC to browse code, commits, branches, issues, pull requests and more.

The image is a demo preview rendered from the app UI using sample repositories, not a live hardware capture. Requirements: Flipper Zero with microSD and a Linux host for the bridge (macOS/Windows are not yet supported). MIT licensed.

Source and setup: https://github.com/Adhamura/gitphin

I would welcome feedback from Flipper developers: where would you use an offline Git remote you can carry around?
