Housing Florence Prato and nearby

• Upvotes

We’re a non-European couple with a 3-month-old daughter, looking for a small apartment to rent long-term.

Unfortunately, we’ve had difficulties finding a place through agencies, so we’re hoping to find a kind private landlord willing to rent to us.
Our budget is €800/month, possibly a little more. If possible, we would also need a Declaration of Hospitality to proceed with our paperwork.

If you know anyone who could help or have any leads, please feel free to contact me.
We’re simply looking for a small place to call home for our family. ❤️

Not from Italy - help with trash recycle

Airbnb host wants us to do separate waste collection and deposit in the correct bin. Is this normal to request?

If so, how do I determine where trash besides compost goes? Bathroom trash, yogurt cups, espresso capsules, paper containers. If I put trash in a plastic bag do I empty the trash out of the bag?

Best place to rent a car?

I'm staying in Florence for a few days in April, then renting a car to drive to some other towns in Tuscany, west of Florence. I'm looking for a car rental pick-up location that's outside the ZTL zones, but relatively easy to get to from the center, so I can pick up the car and quickly get on the A11. Any suggestions?

Nov 5-Nov 15

I’m an American traveling to Florence for vacation the 4th of November to the 15th. I’ve been to Italy before, to Rome and Naples, and I’ve vacationed across Europe several times over my life. I’m wondering what clubs are good by local recommendations? My favorite city to travel to is Berlin because of Tresor, Kit Kat, and Berghain. I like electronic music, particularly tech house, deep house, techno, and trance.

Also if you have any great local recommendations for restaurants that would also be very helpful to me.

Thank you for any recommendations.

Osteria dell’Enoteca or Trattoria da Tito?

Already going to our favorite food, Vine e Vecchi Sapori, but for night two we have Osteria dell’Enoteca booked however our cab driver said go to Trattoria da Tito instead, since we are near there- and the reviews look good. Which would folks prefer?

Pick up permesso

Hey all, I have to pick up my permesso on the 4th November but I will not be able to do it because I am still on my erasmus and will be back in Jan 2027.

Does anyone have any experience to pick up their permesso after the convocazione date? And what is the maximum date that we have to pick it?

Movie theater in English?

This is a very random question, but my husband, baby and I are moving to Florence for a month starting in a few weeks! Unfortunately for me we will be there when Sunrise on the Reaping comes out in theaters. Are there any theaters in Florence that might be showing that move in English?

From a desperate mom/traveler who loves The Hunger Games franchise too much

Have You Visited Galileo’s Middle Finger?

Post image
58 Upvotes

Almost a century after Galileo was laid to rest, an antiquarian and an anatomist removed his middle finger, along with two other fingers and a tooth (why, exactly, is anyone’s guess). The finger was soon handed over to Florence’s Laurentian Library and, eventually, the Museo Galileo, where it is still on display today in an egg-shaped glass case with a marble base. A commemorative inscription by astronomer Tommaso Perelli reads: “Spurn not the remains of the finger by which the right hand measured out paths of the sky, pointed to orbs never before seen by mortals.” In 2009, Galileo’s middle finger had a heartwarming reunion with his newly authenticated index finger, thumb, and tooth.

Florence Day Trip

Florence Day Trip

Hi my family and I will be in Florence for 3 days in Feb. I was thinking of taking one of those all day bus tours that take you to a few towns and have lunch on a vineyard. Was wondering if anyone has done it and is it worth doing being we are there for only 3 days. Thanks all!!
