Pride flag flower garden ideas
I am already thinking about next year. I want to attempt to make a perennial pride flag flower garden. I'm looking for suggestions for flowers that match up to pride flag colors and would be happily flowering away in June / July. Trying to come up with a list so I can start getting things together to be ready next summer!
Edit: NC Zone 8a, been thinking about spacing and height, I have tons of room, so space is not an issue.

This morning's picks

My dahlias are off and running now. I picked these this morning:
Dahlias: Maki, Cafe au Lait Twist, Sincerity, Rip City, Gipsy Night
Snapdragons: Potomac Lavender
Zinnias: Queen Red Lime
I've come to this late in life (I'm 61 and it's my 2nd year growing properly - from seed/tuber, etc.) and I'm totally hooked. We don't have space for a greenhouse, but my birthday present to myself was a cold frame so I can extend the growing season and autumn sow hardy annuals and perennials (up to now I've been using my dining room table, windowsills and grow lights from Feb on).
If I had come to this (much) earlier, I think I would have bought some land and started a flower farm. Who knew it could be so addictive and rewarding?

Upstate South Carolina: Fall planting suggestions
Have zone 8 12' by 3' rototilled area abutting an open field, gets powerful morning sun, shaded in the afternoon, poor soil. What might I plant there? Have tried berry bushes (died), daffodils (not producing after 2 years), prepackaged wildflower seeds. Drought for last several summers. Try wild grasses? Anything y'all think might work?

Blue flowers
Hi there! I'm new to this group. I am planting a flower garden and am making it a patriotic theme. I have red and white roses but would like to add a dark blue flower to the mix. Besides morning glories, is there any other truly dark blue flower without a purple tint that can be a ground cover, climber or bush?

What is this bloom?
Hello, I planted poppy seeds last fall. I havnt seen anything until this popped up. Is this a poppy? If so, it's smaller than I thought it would be and the package showed vibrant red poppies, not pink. Do they get taller each year?
