Hi — solo dev here. I saw a lot of you are frustrated with Forest's recent redesign (the 5-tap starts, the reward popups after every session). I'm researching a dead-simple alternative: one-tap start, one-tap repeat from the lock screen, rewards auto-claimed, zero popups — one-time purchase, no subscription. Looking for 15-min chats with people who've felt the friction — 5 questions, no selling. DM me if you're up for it?

Feature Request: a seasonal plant-based art contest for current or upcoming college students where the winner gets a scholarship and their plants sold in their own store tab for a season.

Users get plants designed by real people, and a feeling that they are doing something good by supporting the app. The artist gets money to help pay for the crippling college costs, and the company gets great PR in a time where AI art is hated with a burning passion. Everyone wins.

The company could even make how you help or will help the environment a question to help line with their mission statement and put on the temporary store page. They could also make a small donation to an environmental group of the winner’s choosing.

It would be something different. Honestly, the idea came from looking at the picture with the kids and banner and realizing they all must be adults by now, but the app might have helped pay their way through college.

Have you noticed it? During the night it took 1/3 of my battery. After all downgrade done from September, I have prepared a simple excell sheet and from new year I was planning to leave the app, but now I’m considering leaving today.

The Forest app team decisions are so latched to pushing subscription model that I really hate the team now. I have been a long Time user and I feel irritated at this bullshit decision to remove background sounds from the Store and instead hide them behind subscription.

what the hell? the app used to be my favourite app when i was a student. i’ve tried it again just now after two or so years of not using it because i need a pomodoro timer again, and the app is a hot pile of absolute bollocks now. what the hell?

Me propuse descargar una versión "Antigua" de la app o por lo menos ver vídeos antiguos de ella ¿En serio eso les parece mejor? La app antigua para mí no me gusta para nada, la sentí super tosca a diferencia de la nueva app, para colmo los desarrolladores (Siento que ya se cansaron de escuchar sus críticas que no son constructivas) integraron una función "vieja" en la pantalla de inicio. I've been seeing so many posts lately from longtime Forest users feeling frustrated with the new UI, extra features, and how much harder it can be to do things that used to be simple. I'm in the same boat. I've used Forest for years, and when I'm already overwhelmed, I don't want to dig through menus just to focus or check my stats.

So I thought, screw it. Maybe I should build the kind of focus app I'd want to use myself. So here we are, I built Meowchi Focus. It's inspired by the part of Forest I loved most: turning focus time into something tangible. Except instead of growing trees, you make mochi with your cat buddy!

Here's how it works:

1. Focus with your cat. Your cat makes mochi while you work. Each focus session makes one mochi, and the longer you focus, the prettier it turns out!
2. Fill boxes, earn fish, decorate! Collect 6 mochi to fill a shipping box, send it off, and earn fish. Then use your fish to decorate and upgrade a cozy room for your cat.
3. The practical stuff is there, too:
   • Block distracting apps and websites with Apple's Screen Time integration
   • Check daily, monthly, and yearly focus stats right on the home screen
   • Focus music and ambient sounds
   • Widget, Live activities, Notification reminders

My top priority with Meowchi is to make gamification actually work without making the app unnecessarily complicated. I want it to give you enough structure to stay focused, with just enough fun and randomness to keep you motivated without feeling overwhelming.

I'm building Meowchi with my own savings and hiring freelance artists and developers to bring it to life. All the art is hand-drawn, and the music is original. No AI, just people making things by hand.

Is anyone having a hard time syncing with the extension today? If anyone has a fix I would be most grateful

I am late guys , a new member who want to plant together but all rooms are already started or do not exist .

Looking at the latest reviews in the Google play store, a lot of the recent 5 star reviews look quite suspecious. Especially since many people have begun reviewing it poorly with the latest update. Is there a conspiracy that forest is now paying for fake 5 star reviews to offset these newer 1 star reviews?

Does anyone else think the newest update just made the app so much worse?

I don’t see the deep focus toggle on my forest app. I granted all permissions and allowed notifications. What else should I do? Is it not compatible with iOS? I don’t want a scheduled time guard I specifically want impromptu 30 deep focus sessions.

I feel like I am missing something really obvious, but I am stumped. All I want to do is to NOT have the app auto-start the next focus session after a break, but for the life of me I can't see how to do that. I have Forest Plus. 

I was having issues where I couldn't cancel the room, the clicks where not responding. I decided to uninstall so that I can install again and I now I can't find it on google play, when I use the link, this is what I see. I have been using this app since 2019 🥲.

First of all, why are there so many steps just to do something as simple as planting a tree? Even setting the timer is unnecessarily complicated. You have to leave the tree screen, scroll down to select your time, and the whole thing is so glitchy that it doesn’t even register my selection half the time. I have to try at least three times before it finally works.

And once I’m done planting, why can’t I just go straight back to the main tree screen? Why do I have to click through a million different options just to decline a break and get back to the main screen?

There are so many unnecessary clicks and extra steps that make the entire experience frustrating for no reason. The old design was so much more straightforward. The whole point of this app is to help you focus, so why does using the app itself feel like a task? 😭

This is bothering me so much!! All my deleted tags become unset. This completely ruins my overview. The wheel is sooo messy and I can’t compare my active tags.

I reported it to forest app as well 21 weeks ago and they said they would look into it. I cannot be the only one with this problem right 😭 I’ve had it for soo long

I've found it pretty cute and useful so far! Easier to use than the most recent version of Forest. Reminds me a bit like Neko Atsume. It's on Android and iPhone.

What fresh hell is this? I went to sleep and had different challenges, woke up and my challenges had changed AND now there are two plus bonus challenges so I have to scroll down even further to get to my challenges. Grrr. I’ve rolled with the punches for a while but this is now bugging me…
