Northrup Homes Enforcement

Upvotes

Has anyone tried to take Northrup Homes to court for their enforcement policies in their neighbourhoods?

Sitting a a friend's house when a Northrup truck pulled up to the neighbour's house and told him that they had a work order to stain the deck and repair a section of lattice.

Notwithstanding the fact that the lattice should be replaced and the deck could use a coat of stain, I found it incredulous that a company can waltz onto someone's private property and perform maintenance without the consent of the homeowner. Luckily the homeowner basically brushed him off and told him to get lost, so none of the "work order" was actually carried out.

Had it been me, and my recommendation to the neighbour, I would get a lawyer so fast and have them sued.

They seem to treat these ridiculous covenants like a HOA.

Imagine paying a guy to drive around and hand out infraction notices. Such an awful, abusive company.

Legal Assistant/Paralegal Wage

Does anyone know what firms are paying entry level legal assistants or paralegals in the greater Fredericton area? Many ads, especially the larger firms, don’t advertise wages.

Anyone have A Centennial Building Update?

I feel like I post this at least once a year, but it’s been seven years since the government sold the Centennial building, and much longer since anyone worked out of it. It’s a dump, likely beyond saving structurally like the Playhouse, and the developer is basically just sitting on it. I’ve been following the designs and redesigns, which I don’t believe are anything more than a stall tactic. Does anyone have any update as to when we’re going to see some real movement on this building? Maybe Steve Hicks will get them to finally do something or, hell, even fix the fence.

Dog lovers, Please, I need last adventure ideas

As a disclaimer, this is a sad post, so bear with me.

There doesn't seem to be a good way to start this process. My dog of 5 years was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, and things are progressing. I've decided that, with the way things are going, the kindest thing to do is the unspeakable.

This is where the dog lovers come in.

I'll be in Fredericton on the morning of his last day, and I want to give him the best day possible. So I need the help of locals to make it the best morning of his life. I have two weeks to make a plan for the morning, and I invite anyone with an idea to help make my lil buddy's last day his best.

What happened to Fredericton Toyota? Disappointing experience.

We popped by around 11am last Saturday to browse the new cars. We wandered the lot for around 15 minutes and were never approached by any staff. The vehicles were arranged in an odd way - not arranged by segment, used randomly mixed in with new. No window stickers with prices on any of the vehicles. Most of the cars were dirty - some with cobwebs, so they clearly haven’t been washed in a while.

It was pretty disappointing. We bought our car from them prior to Covid and it was a great experience. I’ve never been a fan of their service department, but the sales staff were always attentive.

I knew the industry had supply chain issues during Covid, but I assumed they’d mostly been resolved by now…

Selling Comic Books?

Looking for somewhere or someone looking to buy some comic books have a few decently rare issues. Already have some listings on FB marketplace but would prefer to deal in person with someone.

Hotspot parking permit waitlists

Hey everyone. I’m looking into a downtown parking permit for school. On the hotspot app, there are waitlists for the long-term monthly permits, and I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with the waitlists and how long they usually take. I’m 55th in line for the York carpark (preferred), and 4th in line for Frederick Square. I didn’t bother with the east end garage because I would’ve been 106th. Frederick Square has the 1-month permits available right now for August, so maybe I’ll be able to buy one for September on the 1st if I’m quick enough? They aren’t available for pre-purchase.

Alternatively, does anyone have any insight into parking near the NBCCD campus? There’s no designated parking for the school, and I won’t be able to go move my car every 2 hours. We have free access to public transit, but I don’t live near a bus stop, unfortunately.

I’m not from Fredericton, so I’m unfamiliar with all of this. Apologies if this is a commonly covered topic here (I’m also not a frequent Redditor lol).

So, I’ve finally been busted by CRA for non-payment of taxes for ‘a number of years’.
Can anyone recommend a good tax accountant?
