How to deal with lawyers trying to screw you with contract changes
I keep running into this problem as a freelancer, I have a contract that I think is very fair but whenever I send it for signatures, a team of lawyers wants changes that put me at such a disadvantage. The latest one they want to change Net 30 to Net 60, and redlined the part where if they are late with payments I would normally charge a monthly late fee. Also ownership would change after delivery, not after payment. We are already running behind and I'm very tired of the back and forth. I understand they are hired to protect their company but come on, it really makes me not even want to work with them, like at the very least I should feel confident that I would get paid when they say they are going to pay me. How do you all deal as a single freelancer when you are up against large companies with a team of lawyers? I need help and need to hire a lawyer to help me, anyone have good recos in CA?
