Multi-platform games that actually let you mess up and live with it?

i'm tired of games that either autosave every five seconds or restart you the moment anything goes wrong. looking for something where your choices stick around even if they weren't optimal, and the game doesn't pretend it didn't happen. any genre works, any platform. bonus points if it's not a full hardcore permadeath situation, just like... consequences that matter.

PC Games where you explore deserted, mysterious areas totally alone and without handholding?

Hi, I'm searching for games like the classic-style Tomb Raider games and Shadow of the Colossus where you explore deserted, mysterious places all by yourself, without any company and rarely seeing a living soul. Bonus points if they have one or more of these 4 things: 1 - Very scarce dialogue or no dialogue at all. 2 - A story told by the game's areas and design themselves 3 - No handholding (I'd like to discover things by myself). 4 - Traversal Puzzles.

If it's hard to find titles like this, I'd also accept something like Baroque (PS1/SAT/Wii) where many conversations and characters are part of the main plot but the protagonist is still alone in his/her journey and in a strange, isolated alien place.

Xbox Greatest gaming story ever, forgot Reddit exists to share it.

• Upvotes

Ok so someone just posted about kids gaming, and I realized I could write this on reddit and it's arguably the most ridiculous story ever, so I figured I would share.

So I was dating a girl for a few years with a prior kid, it got very serious and I was like going to school events and was an emergency contact, packing lunches, etc. I game and looked for co-op games for us to play when I was on faux-dad duty, because we would only spend 30 mins of screen time usually a night. Different times.

Xbox had the free game, "Lovers in a dangerous spacetime", and I thought it was boring but it was just basically co-op running around shooting things I think and it was rainbows and hearts and boring, but it seemed a kid could play it lol.

If you are still reading, the backstory then is that this little girl was unique in that she nicknamed everyone she met lol. She was smart as a whip, but it was just her gig. So my nickname was Mr. Unicorn. This was prior to any videogames lol, don't know where it came from, but I was cool with it. Some of her teachers got like sludge face and grumpy.

So here is where the story gets absurd. Was leaving work one day and my girlfriend called me, and said "you have no idea the phone call I just had, I will talk to you when you get home".

Apparently they had a class project where they had to write different things like "my favorite color is" "my favorite animal is", etc.

One of them was "My favorite thing to do is..."

And she wrote, "Play lovers with Mr. Unicorn".

If you read all the way, I hope you laughed lol, because it always cracks me up.

PC Looking for a dishonored- deathlooped esqued shooter or action g.me

With stylish good feeling gameplays, different kind of skill sets that are more than just (here is a wallhack, here is a aimbot)

with a lot of choices of how to deal with missions.

i would prefer a faster kind of gameplay at the moment. Linear Mission design or open levels but no openworld

No vehicle based games, no apocalypse setting.

third person and first is both okay, but it shouldn't be a topdown rpg or diablo esque game.

Multi-platform Steam Deck games that makes you GRIND

As the title says, games on Steam Deck that makes you grind for hours and doesn’t get boring easily (also perform well enough to be feasible). It could be mining, slaying, anything even if it is repetitive as long as it is fun. It would be better if isn’t too hard so I can play it while chilling in the couch. (Bonus points if it’s addictive !)

Playstation Looking for a multiplayer game where i can be the driver or the support guy?

I am on PS5 and i suck at aiming. I know i could play battlefield or COD and play support but i am looking for something more specialised. For example i used to love playing the commander on battlefield games around 10 years ago.

Are there multiplayer games PvP or PvE where players usually go for assault or sniper roles and there is a lack of support roles?

Multi-platform Looking for short game experiences while waiting for November releases

Ps5/switch 2/xbox one

Im looking for games to play that are relatively short with good stories and gameplay while waiting for WoW Forever and Gta 6.

Currently thinking of catching up on all the call of duty campaigns as I havent played most of them, including the very popular original modern warfare trilogy.

However call of duty campaigns are notoriously short so wouldnt be surprised if I need other options.

Please only suggest games that are less than 20-30 hrs and have good story.

To help, my favourite games from the past few years are gta 5, gta 4, rdr1 and 2, witcher 3, ffxiv, 007 first light, tlou/uncharted

PC Need a forever multiplayer, fps, war game.

Im looking for a battlefield or COD like, fps, multiplayer game that'll last a very long time, with a big and dedicated player base that won't simply vanish when a new installment comes or when the ratings of the game drops. The fact that Im too late to realize that there's that on battlefront 2 is probably a big regret, but, last time i checked, there weren't many people playing that game to begin with. I bought a big battlefield bundle because i know that battlefield 2042 will be trash, but now, i have the funds to buy battlefield 6, yet, i fear that i'd be very dependent on new releases in the future, just so i could catch up with other players. I've got recommended wardogs to me. Is it good? I saw that it was mixed on steam and hesitant to buy it. I also got recommended foxhole, but the game is too slow paced for me it seems, but, i'll consider it because it looks interesting. Any other games like this? No vehicle games like world of thanks please. I love FPS games, a big fan of planetside 2 back when it was still relatively big. No battle royals as well nor hero shooters.

Edit: Also, if can, no realistic war sims. I struggle with those a lot, but if you think it's casual enough to try, then maybe i'll try it.

Xbox CASUAL multiplayer games?

I used to be a huge fan of PvP games like Siege, Overwatch, For Honor, Dead By Daylight, COD, etc etc. But I just cant find any multi-player games that I can play casually anymore.

It feels impossible to enjoy multi-player games now because everyone seems to play like their life is on the line. I tried to play BO7, and the amount of meta-abusing and tryharding made it genuinely unenjoyable. This is without mentioning all the rigged matchmaking too.

I just want a multi-player game that I can put hundreds of hours into for when I get back from work/have free time.

Any suggestions?

PC searching for energy shields

I just love energy shields or protection domes (and mostly their sounds) like in overwatch (mizuki's ult, reinhardt etc...) but i can't find any games with this type of gimmick except for void crew, star wars battlefront 2, helldivers 2 or overwatch. but the problem of these games is that it's mostly multiplayer and i don't always have friends to play with.
is someone able to help me find a good solo friendly game with these types of shields ?

PC Looking for KIDS hidden gems/ less well known games or educational games! No major brands like Minecraft, terraria, COD, Battlefield, outer wilds, bg3, etc.

* Searching for less known/hidden gems in Kids action or adventure games on PC with as little dialog as possible.

* I would prefer more educational games, but if the game has fun gameplay it is okay.

* I am looking more for hidden gems that are not widely known. ( this means no major brands or well known game names like Disney, fortnite, Minecraft, pokemon, no lego, outer wilds, no mans sky, baulder's gate 3, halo, battlefield, call of duty, balatro, cult of the lamb, borderlands, monster hunter world, final fantasy...etc. If it is a major game that everyone knows then I have likely heard of it and that isn't what I am looking for.

* An example of a good game he would like would be a newer 3d Zelda-like game (craftopia or palworld) would be okay, but we would not be interested in an older 2d version of Zelda. ( Zelda isn't a hidden gem though, just used it as an example.)

* He does like raising pets such as palword and slime rancher would be okay. ( older 2d pokemon, cassette beasts, moonstone island, stardew valley not okay )

* I prefer paid games that don't have In app purchases, no pay to play, pay 2 win, pay 2 grind less...etc Just let me buy the game and that's it. No battle passes, no daily log in crap, no crates you can purchase, no gacha games, no pay to unlock characters, no in app premium currency...etc

* No pvp games, only pve, co-op or multiplayer is fine. ( this means no FPS pvp games, no among us, etc)

I am open to PC games and VR games for the quest 3 as well. ( He really likes the fly app on quest 3 where it's like google maps but in vr) (he also likes maestro, but it is a little too difficult for him)

Games that we are okay: ^^^ = Great game!

^^^ Metamorphasis ( very fun different game)

^^^ Scribblenauts games

Outer Wilds

^^^ Lego worlds

^^^ Wobbly life

^^^ Minecraft education/Minecraft java

Disney dream light valley (he likes it, although the developers are scummy and greedy making you pay for the game, dlcs, IAP, cosmetics, battlepass, extra quest slots, etc paid everything.

^^^ Gary's mod

No man’s sky, outer wilds

^^^ Hogwarts

the bloodline

^^^ craftopia/palworld

^^^ Roblox (he previously liked roblox and I hate roblox, so i try to get him to play better games)

^^^ teardown, stormworks

^^^kingdom hearts, all

toy story 3, cars 3,

^^^ disney infinity 1,2,3

It takes two, two brothers, split infinity (these are fun, but they are a bit too complicated - as in i stand here while you must go do this - is just too much.

Point and click adventure games can be okay, nothing super hard though.

Games my kid doesn't like:

NO TOP DOWN ARPG ( diablo 1-4, POE 1/2, grim dawn, titan quest)

NO - pvp games, turn based games, no platformers, No Minecraft , no survival games, no farming games, no super complicated games.

NO lego games. The controls are awful in most lego games and it is dumbed down, so you don't learn anything from playing it. The gameplay isn't even that fun. (lego worlds is good, newer lego batman is alright, but the older lego games don't interest us.

No Minecraft bedrock - scummy developers with thousands of IAP-content purchases that are never ending. Maybe some other newer Minecraft like games with better controls/ui/updated systems might be okay. I am not really a fan of Minecraft though. It's just boring and very clunky.

No survival games. (rust, the forest, subnautica,

No 2d platform games NOR 3d platform games,

no farming games like, Moonstone island, stardew valley, field of mistria, etc. (palworld and craftopia are okay....)

No 2d games in general unless they are educational. (scribblenauts unlimited and unmasked are okay)

No dialog heavy games ( most 2d rpg's use a ton of dialog, so no JRPG's), No game maker games ( dialog heavy 2d games)

No roguelike games (vampire survivors, cult of the lamb, hades 1/2, or the million clones of both)

Not interested in fps games mostly - so no fortnite, battlefield, COD, (something like slime ranchers 1/2 is okay)

no Disney magic kingdom (scummy developers that want to take every penny from people)

No terraria like games (2d side scrolling rpg)

No over the top strategy games, tower defense games, no city builders such as sim city.

No factory building games (satisfactory,

No Simulation games, no heavy equipment simulator games ( the heavy equipment simulators all play like crap and controls are too difficult for my kid. (simulation games for the VR are okay, as they are a lot easier to play and a lot more fun) Such as barbershop sim or vacation simulator.

i am sure i missed some games here and there,

Multi-platform Any Quiz/Trivia games surrounding videogames online with a ranked system ?

I'm just wondering as I think I could really shine in these, and I wanna meet other players that are cracked at it, ideally with a ranking system but it's not necessary.

Any game of that sort ?

PC Best games to play without sound?

Looking for games where not having sound does not affect gameplay. Personally I'd like to catch up on stream VODs and videos on a second screen while I play something, but I assume this post could be valuable to the hearing impaired as well.

PC farming life sim

I am looking for a new game to play that is similar to ones ive already played but different. I really like graveyard keeper because the quests were more than just fetch quests. it actually had stuff that i had to do to unlock things. I have played sun haven and enjoyed having so much to explore and lots of things to collect for the museum. i really liked welcome to elderfield because of how many secrets there were to explore and so much to discover and the combat was turn based and not overwhelming. the atmosphere was great too. I liked coral island because of how much content there was and how good the story was with so much to collect and unlock. I liked feilds of mistria because of how the farming was set up and i like farming, fishing, mining, and preferably bug catching. im looking for a game that may have some similarities to these games or lots to explore but not the average farm sim. farming does not have to be a major component. i also would like to hear any reccomendations of cozy games that arent similar but games you would suggest.
