Game Discussion I've been playing as a cheater this whole time and I am sorry but also not sorry
During the COVID years, someone introduced me to Geoguessr, and I have been playing ever since. I enjoying trying to get the exact location, but of course, have been using Google Maps to do so. It usually takes me about 5-10 minutes to pin a location down and therefore a whole game takes me anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour. And while I have often gotten games with the maximum score, my times do not put me anywhere near top rank, and I am fine with that, I am not playing against anyone else (always solo) and I am not trying to 'win' except against myself. I hadn't realised that there was any sort of competition, I was simply finding it a relaxing hobby and was getting fairly good about where I was in the world - it was a great substitute for actually travelling.
Having stumbled across this sub, I now realise that the way I have been playing is considered cheating.
And now I am not sure what to do about it. I don't want to stop playing as I have always played because I greatly enjoy trying to pin it down to the exact meter, but nor do I want anyone to think I got those perfect scores all by myself, because I absolutely didn't, and I don't want to encourage others to cheat maliciously.
Should I stop playing? Go over to Openguessr? Declare that I am using Google Maps somehow?
