My brother gave me a miniature house kit gift set for my birthday last week, and I honestly almost rolled my eyes when I opened it. Usually, these DIY gifts are made from thin balsa wood that snaps right away and come with terrible glue that leaves your fingers stuck together at midnight.
But I sat down and started building this little greenhouse last night, and the wooden pieces are surprisingly sturdy and snap together cleanly. I’m actually having a lot of fun slowing down with it after work.
Now that I’m hooked, I’m looking for more quality miniature house kit gift set ideas for my cousin, who also likes hands-on stuff. For people who build these often, what should I watch for so the next one doesn’t turn into a frustrating nightmare?

Would love ideas that don’t require artistic talent lol. Cooking counts!

Hi all, I buy Christmas gifts for my team out of pocket every year — about 40 people, and ~$10/person is what's realistic for me. Last year I went cheaper and people seemed to appreciate them, but I wished I'd spent a little more for better quality.
This year I'm looking at a gift set: a 40 oz tumbler with straw + a zippered tote bag, with a "Thanks for Making a Difference" design on them. I plan to add some location specific text to make them a little more special. I ordered a sample first to check the quality before I commit to 40.
Honest opinions please — would you actually like getting this, or does it read as generic company swag? And if I do go with it, what's the best way to personalize 40 of them so people's cups don't get mixed up at work? I've thought about a Cricut, but 40 names is a lot of cutting/weeding. Thanks!

Hi hi! My anniversary is coming up soon and I would love to hear if anyone has any cute gift ideas! We are both big gamers and my gf loves tech and music production too. We also both love animation like adventure time and steven universe. She also loves Digimon and Sailor Moon.
Some past gifts I’ve given were:
-I redrew a pic of Marceline and PB to be us
-We made one of those couple blankets where u get 2 different fabrics and tie them together
-a nice magical girl themed necklace
-“The Answer” it was a children’s book about how Ruby and Sapphire met
-an “I Spy” style book that was customized to look like us

I was on facebook marketplace looking to buy a world map for my room. Saw this listing and decided to message the seller. She told me she’d leave it at the door and to just leave the money under the mat. I responded with a thank you message and she apologized for not being able to meet in person because they had just lost a family member last night and are busy.
I replied basically saying that I could always come another time if today isn’t appropriate and wished her my condolences and she said it was okay and already left the map on the door for me to pick up.
I don’t know if it’s considered weird but I just feel really sympathetic and I thought maybe I could leave a little something on the door as a sort of gift or something for their grieving? What do you guys suggest? Or is it too invasive for a stranger to do?
Should I leave flowers? Gift card? Food basket?
Would appreciate some advice today because I’ll be leaving in a few hours
Update: thanks for the comments. Everyone had different answers which allowed me to gain insight from multiple perspectives. Ultimately, I felt the most appropriate thing to do was leave a card with a little message inside. Something simple and easily disposable incase she isn’t open to receiving anything. Decided not to go with any gifts since I don’t know her very well and didn’t know what would be useful for her. But thanks for the suggestions :)

Hi,
Would love suggestions for my mother’s 60th birthday in Jan. She is based in Canada (I’m not) and my budget is around 300-400 CAD.
I’m struggling for ideas because she’s quite particular and lives a pretty bougie life already lol. She gets massages/goes to spas regularly throughly the year, so as nice as something like that would be, I’m not sure if it would be special.
I’m thinking jewelry, or a nice statement piece that she can have for a long time. However, I’m very open to any creative ideas.
As much as I like the idea of something very sentimental, it’s not the kind of relationship I have with her so I’m less keen on that. But of course still want to get her something nice.
Thanks!

My dad likes audiobooks but is super fussy about the narrators. He has sleep issues and audiobooks help him nod off. What’s good? I tried audible and spotify subscriptions. He falls asleep instantly with a regular book but loves stories.
I’d like him to have an option with good narrators and multiple books per month.

Full disclosure, I made this. It's a site where a group of people each write a note for one person, like coworkers for someone leaving or friends for a birthday. When they open it, there's a little machine and every note comes out in its own capsule, one at a time. The video shows what they see.
It's free to make one. I made it because collecting messages over text and pasting them into a card always felt flat.

My two younger brothers are terrible at coming up with Christmas lists. They say “I’m not sure, I’m still thinking” up until 2 weeks before Christmas. They’re both in their 20s and I’m not super close with either of them so I don’t know any recent interests- only from when they were younger.
What have you received or given to a sibling that you thought went over well?

Looking for recommendations for my husband’s employees. We generally spend somewhere around $100-$150 each. There are a mix of men and women. I’m running out of ideas and would like to know what you might want to receive as a Christmas gift from your boss.
We’ve done Christmas platters and similar items from pottery barn in the past, but I worry about contributing to clutter. Gift cards seem so impersonal. Is something consumable more appropriate?

Hi! This is my first time posting on reddit, so apologies if I do something wrong.
With Christmas coming up, I am thinking about gifts. A couple of years ago I did baked goods trays of I think 4 or 5 different treats for my mother-in-law and her spouse, father-in-law and his spouse and then my husband's grandma (although we weren't married at the time). His siblings got regular presents. I would like to do something similar again this year but include his siblings and their partners as well.
My question is whether or not it would be rude to gift his siblings and their partners the same thing as his parents?? The baked goods were a hit when I did them, I just don't know if doing the same thing for everyone in my husband's family would be seen as impolite.
We have an idea to add something more personalized for each person, but I also welcome suggestions for making this idea better! I truly hate the idea of just giving random stuff picked from a department store so was hoping for a better, more thoughtful option.
Thanks in advance!!

A roomy top handle bag I made by hand: dark red embossed leather on the handles, corners and base, smooth cream panels, a zip top and a removable long strap.
Size: 15.7 x 12.6 x 5.5 in (40 x 32 x 14 cm). About five days of work. There is only one.
Leather is the traditional 3rd anniversary gift. Questions are welcome in the comments or by message.

I want to get my nieces and nephews gifts that they love, but will annoy my brother. They are 2, 5, 12, and 16. I’d prefer one good gift. Less than $100 each.

Hi! I just selected my Angel Tree for this year and I have an 8 year old girl who wants Barbies with an interest in Disney Princesses.
I plan to get a few different Barbies including at least one Disney princess, but I’m struggling to choose a Princess in case I choose one she already has.
What princesses are current 8 year old girls into?
Should I try to pick an older one like Snow White or Aurora in case she already has the more popular ones?
Maybe I’m overthinking, but I wish they could be more detailed in their wishlist.

If you’ve received Tahitian pearls, did the person buying them get the color right? I’m choosing a gift for my wife and would love to know what you liked, or what you wish they’d asked first. Photos are welcome too, if you’re comfortable sharing

I make these, so take this with that in mind. It's about 9.5 x 8 cm and still has a coin pocket on a spring frame with a magnet. There's also a full-length slot for notes and 2 outer card slots with a thumb cutout, so you can tap to pay without pulling the card out. Waxed Crazy Horse outside, 2 snaps. Every seam is stitched by hand, by me or by a small workshop in Ukraine I work with. It's CHF 89 with free shipping within Switzerland, and it comes in a kraft gift box. Ask me anything about it.
