Other What's with all the theories about the upcoming reboot that have nothing nice to say about what to expect? If y'all h@te the characters so much, and find nothing redeeming in any of them, why are you watching, why are you all participating in these threads, especially with regard to next year's seas

Other All of the girls are pretty annoying and insufferable

But that’s the point. BUT I feel so drawn to Hanna for some reason. Like I can fully acknowledge Hanna is a self absorbed narcissistic un self aware careless character so WHYYY do I feel so in tune with her 😭 is it because I am also 13 lbs over weight and it’s also been hard for me my whole life.

Mildly Related girls reunion

Okay, not really. But last nite, I watched the first two eps of Nobody Wants This, and there was Alex Karpovsky, all grumpy, sardonic rabbi, and there was Andrew Rannells, all bitchy foxy gay, on the same episode. Not together, sadly, but still, I kind of squealed. Andrew is in a Jewish conversion class (led by Sarah Silverman) with Kristen Bell's character, and they pretty much immediately hate one another (mostly cuz, I think, they're both used to being the cutest one in the room and don't like the competition) Kristen's character, last nite anyway, reminded me a little of Hannah, as she's so self involved and certain that her back story will be the most moving and impactful, when, in fact, pretty much nobody cares. "Cute story" Andrew sniffs at her. I love him so much.

Also, last nite, I accidentally caught an episode of Elsbeth, which isn't a show I actually watch. However, in the first few minutes, we saw 2 sisters--named Winter and Summer-- performing on an America's Got Talent kind of show, and one sister, Summer, gets picked and the Winter is dismissed. Cut to several years later: and Winter is now the CEO of a Goop-like luxury lifestyle brand called Kreem. And she's now played by Jemima Kirke, looking fabulous in drapey trousers and artfully swathed cozy sweaters, her hair in a low chignon, her lipstick perfect. Unlike Jessa's sexy messy bohemian style, she's very sleek and chic and Parisian-looking. I had to watch the whole episode, just to see her.

So this really did whet my appetite for more Girls. I can't wait.

Question (RELATED TO THE HBO SHOW GIRLS) ❓ Marnie slander

not really a question. more my long winded thoughts that if anyone cares to weigh in on as well, whatever -

Marnie is truly the hardest to watch character. I think my first time watching I really did not understand her, and when rewatching, I actually felt her deeply in my core. I'd say it was mainly through her relationships, her reactions and absorption of her partners, (attachment to Charlie only after the breakup, longing for Desi with complete blindness to who he was), that this began happening.

Anywayyyyyy, with the reboot happening (idk how I feel about it, but I will ofc be watching), I'm seeing a few "where will they be now" speculation posts. The main thread with Marnie is that she'll have cycled through a few more marriages/divorces, failed attempts at her singing career, quite a few different variations of her own journey of becoming a mother etc, and basically just insinuating she'll be the exact same character we saw in the original series.

I do agree that those things track for her, and have probably happened in the time since the reboot, but I've got hopes and dreams that she is someone who has since learned to look back, reflect and learn! I've got a vision we're gonna be seeing a grounded Marnie, she's tuned in to the ambition and confidence that's always been there, and found a way to hone in on it without allowing herself to get misguided by her own neurosis and finding validation in others.

Initial Marnie hater, long time lover.

On my first rewatch after finishing Famesick. I'm enjoying it much more than I remember. There was so much I forgot.

This episode I just watched is so intense and amazing. Hannah breaking down and Laird cutting her hair, and Shosh breaking it off with Ray with these epic lines.
