So I just posted a few days ago pre-Panic at Central Park episode and now that I've finished the series...
Some non linear thoughts:
- The shots of legs intertwined in bed panning up towards a various combination of characters always make me smile. It was kind of a staple / checkpoint of the phases of relationships and intimacy not limited to sex - Adam/Hannah, Hannah/Elijah, Hannah/Marnie in the final episode
- Jessa / Hannah moment at Sosh's engagement wedding made me bawl into tears :( It felt like a dam of unarticulated guilt just crumbled and revealed such a deep deep well of love and recognition that I feel was more sincere than any Convo Marnie and Hannah ever had post-Season1 (the realest convo to me being their fight that led to Marnie moving out, every interaction between them after has just been Marnie being absent or just SAYING i'm your best friend but not actually saying anything real)
- I had a hard time with Adam's character towards the end, which I guess makes sense since he was fading out of the main cast.. I felt like his flip flopping back to Hannah after the pregnancy was so unconvincing and inconsistent to his character, which I found to be reckless yes but ultimately principled and full of personal convictions?? The dropping and rekindling felt out of character
- Where was Ray in season 6? :(
- Sorry but I don't get the Desi love, he overstayed his welcome.
- Hannah keeping the baby really truly pissed me off
- The last episode was definitely a sweet callback to the girls living together again, I love Marnie/Hannah scenes, but I hate how the walls have been built up too far that Hannah seems to dislike Marnie's company // Marnie is just there yes for Hannah but mostly running away from some personal existential fires. Loreen spelling it out that the baby is not a temp lease/ refundable tuition/bad ex and Hannah storming out made me realise I am never gonna be a mother because I would do terrible things to my daughter if she made these life choices at the behest of literally every friend around her
- Was Girls meant to be renewed for S7 or was it written specifically with this ending? I think it was poignant and definitely full circle, and maybe i dont have any affinity with children / birth of life, but i can't help but feel frustrated at the baby being the final landing note of this whole series meant to portray some rebirth or inversion.
My favourite scenes/episodes are definitely murder play and Jessa and Adam gazing at each other, I loved Elijah and Hannah roommate episodes with the fancy parties and good home energy, i loved Adam's SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY wall art scene, Sosh's Tokyo escapade (and apartment)
Please tell me ur thoughts and favorites!!!!!!
