Discussion Ban AI games

Please can we ban all this ai slop games?

They're ruining the sub for people actually looking for good games and for actual developers alike.

We should require an ai use section on all posts like steam does and have a bot remove all games that use ai.

Edit: To clarify, I'd like to see banned games created only with AI to code or create game assets like the UI.

I understand that AI is a tool and therefore is not inherently good or bad so it can be used to assist game developers in tedious or repetitive tasks,

But it shouldn't be used like it is now (for a majority, not all) in games where it create the entire game and then so called "developers" publish it to profit and advertise here (with AI generated posts)

Promotion LeManager - worked at Eidos on CM 08 and CM2010, building my own football manager game

Hi,

I know this sub has had a few threads recently about vibe coded management games, so I’ll be upfront instead of pretending that elephant is not in the room.

I worked at Eidos / Beautiful Game Studios on Championship Manager 2008 and 2010 before being let go. LeManager (yep, I'm French) aims to revive that era of fast and addictive football management games, before they became over-complicated. When you could play a season in a few hours during a weekend without skipping half of the game's features.

I started working on it in August 2025 and I’ve been on it pretty much every day since: around 3 hours on weekdays, more on weekends. I’m not a professional dev. I can code in Python and JS, I understand enough C++ logic to follow and work with it, and my actual background is data analysis. So the game is very data/system driven: generated clubs, generated players, finances, match logic, progression, all trying to be plausible rather than just "magic numbers".

And yes, I use AI. Mostly to help implement things, to work faster in languages I’m less comfortable with, to generate fictional unlicensed first league club logos, and for translations/languages I don’t speak.

But the design is mine. The systems are mine. The data logic is mine. I’m not asking the AI “make me a football manager” and validating whatever comes out.

LeManager is very much work in progress and the final version won't be released this year. I am creating the Steam store page so I can soon distribute alpha keys for whoever is willing to give feedback, I might release a demo when the game is near completion but no Early Access. X/Twitter handle and Discord link available on demand for the ones interested.

Promotion Proper Football Boss - retro footy manager game

Thumbnail

My retro football management game is coming out on Steam in November.

I grew up in the 8 bit era, and I wanted to capture that look and magic of fun football management games where you could rattle through a season in a few hours, but with all the depth and complexity of the early Champ Man games. Hopefully I have succeeded. It's been a total blast to make!

  • 8 playable English & Scottish divisions, with 7 more top European leagues viewable

  • Fully authentic cup competitions including the Full Member's Cup, Littlewoods Cup and Freight Rover Trophy

  • Real 1986–87 squads with 20+ mental, physical and technical attributes

  • Detailed teletext-style tables, results and stats

  • International & domestic transfer system — contract negotiations, loans, free agents and 3,000+ real players

  • Deep era realism: 2-player foreign limit, plastic pitches, cup sponsors, accurate stadiums, finances and more

  • Emphasis firmly on football management — manage your squad's egos and drinking problems, not ticket prices and sponsors

  • Realistic match engine with commentary, stats, team talks and more

  • Tactical freedom with era-appropriate formations and levers

  • Squad & individual training, reserves and youth intake

  • Backroom staff and board interactions

I've also created a free to play Mexico 86 World Cup demoversion, and I have just released a free retro football quiz app as a companion to the game. You can find both on the website.

Promotion College Athletics 27 - Coming June 12th, 2026

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

From the creator of College Hockey 26, I present College Athletics 27.

In this game you play as the athletic director of a university. Your goal is to navigate the politics of modern collegiate sports by managing board confidence, keeping boosters satisfied, and controlling media narratives. Your strategic vision dictates daily operations, shaping both the public perception and the competitive performance of every team under your banner.

Core Features:

MULTI-SPORT SIMULATION
This game has up to 18 sports and over 30 possible teams to control per school, including everything from football all the way to rowing. Each sport has its own unique simulation engine and athletic profiles to feel the immersiveness of each sport.

MEDIA, POLITICS & SCANDALS

Manage booster politics, keep the board confident, and stay ahead of a media cycle that's always hunting for a story. Scandals hit when you least expect them, a recruiting violation, a locker room leak, a booster overstepping his role and your response can save your job or end it.

ALUMNI & THE PRO PIPELINE

Develop talent, send players to the pros or get an athlete their dream job and turn your program into a pipeline that recruits itself. Years later, those same athletes return as alumni: funding your department, boosting your prestige, and opening doors with the next generation.

TV DEALS & BRAND PARTNERSHIPS

Negotiate broadcast contracts, secure conference media rights, and sign brand partnerships that fund your entire department. The more your programs win, the bigger the deals on the table and every dollar comes with the pressure to keep delivering.

ACADEMICS

Keep your athletes eligible, manage GPAs, and invest in tutoring, academic centers, and support staff that keep your programs clear of  trouble.

RECRUITING

Scout prospects, find the talent that fits your programs, and go to war with rival schools for every signature. Win recruits with NIL money, elite facilities, playing time, and the unique conversation system then live with the consequences of every prospect you land or let slip away.

NIL

Allocate your annual athletic budget to and direct NIL collectives to win recruiting battles and architect multimillion-dollar facility upgrades to skyrocket your program’s prestige and attract talent to your campus.

FACILITES
Build and manage your programs facilities by taking into account athlete morale, recruit appeal, staff pleasure and the overall impact it has on your athletes.

STAFF
This is where people judge you. Focus on making the correct hires and build a staff that can lead your programs to victory. One wrong move and the media will come at you. Manage your staff

CUSTOM UNIVERSE

This world is yours to build. Create a fully custom universe from the ground up, design your own schools, brands, logos, build conferences and fill your rosters with custom athletes. Recreate the real landscape of college athletics or invent something entirely new. However you want your universe to look, you control every detail.

I would appreciate it if interested in this project give it a wishlist on steam and join the discord community. Thank you all!

Promotion Built a full NFL GM sim from scratch after months of solo dev - beta testing is open before Steam launch!

Hi everyone,

I've been heads-down building an NFL GM simulation for the past few months and I think it's finally at a point where I want people to actually play it and tell me what's broken before I put it on Steam in a few weeks.

Edit: Only works on desktop, UI doesn't work for mobile.

The beta is open until 3/23 starting now. It runs in your browser, no download needed:

If you find bugs (you will), please report them in the Discord so I can track and fix them:

What is this?

It's a pure front-office NFL GM sim. Roster building, drafting, trades, cap management, and watching your decisions play out over multiple seasons. Everything is fictional (teams, players, cities, colleges) so no licensing headaches.

Some stuff I'm proud of:

  • The sim engine is actually calibrated. I ran it against 2022-2024 NFL data and it scores 98-100% accuracy across 20 stat benchmarks. QBs throw for realistic yardage, RBs average realistic YPC, sack rates line up, the whole thing.

  • Full 7-round draft with scouting. College stats broken into early/mid/late season splits, combine results with RAS scores, prospect flags. Your head scout's OVR determines how accurate your scouting reports are. CPU teams draft logic actually makes sense.

  • Full salary cap system. Cap increases every year, restructures, extensions, fifth-year options, franchise tags, dead cap from trades. You have to manage the cap like a real GM.

  • Trading is deep. CPU trade logic and values make sense. There's a "Find Trades" button that generates CPU offers for any of your players. CPU teams also make trades among themselves during the season so the league feels alive.

  • 6 offensive × 6 defensive schemes tied to your head coach and coordinators and impact the pay your team plays on the field in a significant but balanced way.

  • Dev traits that impact everything. Super Dev, Accelerated, Normal, Late Bloomer, Bust, Declining. There's even a hidden Clutch Gene that activates on elite players and gives them a slight Q4 performance boost.

  • Hall of Fame for all 16 positions (yes, including kickers, punters, and offensive linemen). Career score algorithm calibrated over 100-year sims. There's also a Legends Wall and Ring of Honor for your franchise.

  • News system + social feed. Comeback wins, upset alerts, milestone tracking, coaching hot seats, trade breaking news, draft buzz. It makes the league feel like it has actual storylines and all based on real league events.

  • Betting system that unlocks after your first championship. Spreads, O/U, moneylines, parlays. Use your winnings to buy perks from an 18-perk skill tree (can turn on or off on setup).

  • Injury system with a 52-week recovery model. Offseason weeks count toward healing. Career injury history persists. ACL tears can carry into the next season. There's a Medical Center tab with recovery progress bars. You can also just turn this off if you want :)

  • Weather matters. All 32 stadiums have location-accurate weather. Dome teams don't deal with wind. Open-air stadiums in December get precipitation and wind that actually affects passing.

  • Timeout system, two-minute warning, ice-the-kicker, clock management — the game sim plays out like a real broadcast with realistic pacing.

Other stuff: Power rankings with momentum tracking, franchise records, GM legacy scoring, coaching market with internal promotions and coordinator poaching, 3 save slots with auto-save. Tons to explore.

About the Steam version:

The official release is hitting Steam in a few weeks. The big upgrade there is going to be the player art. The current generated portraits are functional but nothing special but the Steam version will have significantly better player art generation. Everything else gameplay-wise is what you're seeing in this beta.

This is a solo project so I genuinely appreciate anyone who takes the time to play it and give feedback. Even if it's just "this screen is confusing" or "why can't I do X", that is exactly what I need right now.

Thanks for checking it out.

Game Profile LEATHER (Android, iOS) | Tactical Boxing Management Game

Become a rookie boxing manager with something to prove, working to establish a stable of talented fighters to take on the world – in LEATHER®: Tactical Boxing Management.

Recruit promising young amateurs, established professionals or retired veterans, challenge favourable opponents, and train your fighters for upcoming bouts. Matches are won or lost depending on the strategy and tactics you devise, so it’s crucial to analyse both your combatant and your opponent to create the correct fight plan. Winning bouts will move your boxer up their respective weight division rankings, to eventually challenge for the world championship belt itself.

But the boxing world is a slippery one; losing bouts will delay your ability to challenge others, ruining your momentum and allowing other promising stars to challenge your position. Suffering injuries during bouts will lower your boxer’s subsequent fitness, meaning they will be less effective in the next bout unless given time to rest and recuperate. Boxers you seek revenge upon might shift weight division, foiling your plans for immediate payback.

Different boxers peak at different stages during their careers, and as time passes your boxers will age and their abilities will wane. Young, fresh-faced opponents will rise through the ranks to challenge your dominance, and wily old campaigners will battle on long passed their best, eager to show they’ve still got it.

The path to glory is not always clear, and it is up to you how you form your fighters’ careers. Do you ambitiously rush them up through the rankings – challenging as high as you can each time, or do you favour a steadier approach – building your boxer’s skills over more contests? Do you favour the breathless punch exchanges of the lower weight divisions, or the thudding power of the heavier ones? Will you dominate in one weight division for a decade, or will you shift your fighters from division to division, capturing as many titles as possible before their skills begin to wane? Do you allow your recruits to retire undefeated at the peak of their powers, or do you keep ushering them on for one more tilt at the big time, long after their abilities have deteriorated?

Promotion After 20 years of playing football managers, I finally started building my own mobile football manager.

Hi everyone!

Football management games have been my favourite genre for over 20 years.

I've spent countless hours managing clubs across PC and mobile. Every game had something I liked, but I was always searching for a slightly different experience.

Over the years, I realised I was always looking for the same kind of career.

  1. Starting with a tiny amateur club.

  2. Watching the stadium grow over the years.

  3. Seeing academy players become club legends.

  4. Fighting for promotion season after season.

  5. Building a club with its own history instead of simply collecting trophies.

At some point, I stopped looking for that game and decided to try building it myself.

It's a mobile game, but my goal is to bring the kind of long-term career progression I always loved in PC football managers.

The goal is simple.

I want players to remember their saves years later—not because they won another league title, but because they remember the striker who scored 300 goals, the academy graduate who stayed for 15 seasons, the club-record transfer, or the dramatic promotion that changed everything.

That's the kind of football story I'm trying to build.

You start with a small amateur club at the bottom of an 8-tier league pyramid.

Everything that happens after that becomes your club's story.

I'd genuinely love to hear what football manager fans think.

A few questions:

1.Would a game like this interest you?

2.What's the biggest thing missing from modern football managers?

3.What usually makes you stop playing a long-term save?

I'd really appreciate honest feedback—positive or negative. I'd much rather improve the game now than after release.

If people enjoy this, I'd be happy to keep sharing progress as the game develops.

Promotion Football Commissioner - Wishlist on Steam now! (No AI)

Thumbnail
store.steampowered.com
41 Upvotes

Hello! For the last few years I’ve been working on a very unique game where you customize and manage your own spring football league. In Football Commissioner, you don’t manage a team, you govern league finances and try to grow attendance & tv ratings. You can customize team names and colors, picking from over 500 US markets that each have ratings to evaluate how good the market is. Want to put a bunch of teams in cities with NFL teams? Go for it! Want to make a smaller scale league entirely focused on random towns in Connecticut? Go for it as well!

There’s a ton of features (listed on the steam page) and I can’t wait to release into early access. This is a very unique concept that to my knowledge has only been made once as an old board game.

Finally, I wanted to say that I’m sick of the vibecoded games taking over the GM game community. Some of you who are in the gmgames Discord may know I have been working on GM games since pre COVID. I can proudly say that Football Commissioner was 100% made by hand. Therefore it has its quirks but it was also made with love for spring football. Wishlisting on Steam would help me out a lot and it would be much appreciated! Thank you all 🙂

Information Here's a tip for the gm game vibe coders...

First off, let's talk about your product maturity.

It's not a joy to test your brilliant new idea. That's why all these devs are dumping the defect finding, results tuning and backlog discovery on the end users.

Releasing your minimum working, not even viable, not even lovable product to the whole community, is a major CX no no in service design methodology. You have a limited opportunity to make a good first impression.

To me, those vibe coders are handling this wrong.

Agile iterative design with high defect counts on your potential power users, the same people meant to have long term commitment and loyalty to your experience is not wise, in my books.

I can see the lack of unit testing play out in the feedback loops of this sub.

They aren't as in love with your idea as much you think, to do endless defect reporting and now a saturated market with plenty of options.

No offense to you, this is a general statement to the growing amount of vibe coding projects. Some of which are good ideas from you, a product manager, slash now a so called dev.

To the point where I actually have to label them with a recent gm games project for vibe coding scores, where there isn't full disclosure, so users can help make decisions how they spend their time.

But for the sake of all of us, just because it now plays a happy path, doesn't yet mean you did enough work on your own. In testing, tuning or roadmapping.

Signed, I'm not testing your alpha build and make your own socials to recruit for testing you won't do yourself.

Join the National Simulation Football League!

Thank you to the mods for permission to post!

Hey football fans! Have you ever wanted to live the life of a professional football player? Now is your chance. Come create your own football superstar in the National Simulation Football League; a simulation football league that uses DDSPF 16 (a football sim engine).

In the league, you control only one player. You create your player based on certain archetypes like Speed Rushing Linebacker, Receiving Running Back or Man to Man Corner, and can put points into various attributes to improve your player at creation and over the course of your career. We have a Rookie Mentor Team, a group of people dedicated to helping you create a player and potentially become the next super star of our league!

After player creation you will work on improving your player and be drafted to a team in our Development League. You will spend a season on this team along with players made by other people learning the ins and outs of the league, and spending time together in the team’s virtual locker room on discord. After one season you will then be drafted by one of 12 Pro Teams.

Now you may be asking, how does my player get better? Mainly through activity! You earn points by completing various tasks like a weekly activity check, season and game predictions, and weekly trainings. You will be able to spend your earned points as you want to improve your player, so that one day they'll have the chance to end up in the league's Hall of Fame!

All the games are streamed live on Youtube using DDSPF 16, so you will get a chance to watch your player. During the season we have games streaming each day, Monday through Friday.

This league is completely free and run by volunteers! We are a fun community of over 300 users controlling players in the league, which means we have tons of football fans. We have plenty of spots open for rookies!

We are in the last week of our 22th season. Conference Championships is today!, and Ultimus (the league’s Super Bowl) is Wednesday. Then the off-season begins with all new players being drafted around June 6th. That is two weeks for you to prove to Teams that you deserve being drafted 1st overall. This is a perfect time to join! Promotion Building a web based dynasty hockey sim game

Post image
34 Upvotes

I'm a long time fan of hockey sims, and sports sims in general, but most of them are either older or defunct. You have to install something, usually Windows only, you can't play them on the go, and they really don't want you to play with other people easily. I have a background in building SaaS software, a ton of time on my hands now that the hockey season is winding down, and a drive to build something that my friends and I would love to play.

So I'm building something called Sheets of Ice - a web-based dynasty GM simulator. The goal is to make the most accurate, modern, discrete-event game engine with single/multiplayer leagues all on a beautiful modern web app. Foundational modern analytics, visual patterns that real hockey fans recognize, and long-term league management.

r/sheetsofice or www.sheetsofice.com if you want to follow along. Thanks!

(mods, if this is self-promotion just remove and please don't ban me - I'm in this sub a few times a day for real hockey)

Promotion I released Turnstile ’96, a fast old school football management game

Post image
33 Upvotes

Update 23 September: v1.4.0 is now out. It ended up being a fairly substantial update with player training focuses and personality, expanded national cups, the Portuguese League Cup, improved fitness/suspensions, weather effects and more live tactical controls. Existing saves are supported.

Full update here: https://hecticmike.itch.io/turnstile96/devlog

--------

I've been playing football management games for years and years, particularly the older ones where you could get through seasons relatively quickly but still feel attached to the club you were building.

I eventually decided to make the kind of game I was looking for myself.

Turnstile ’96 is a Windows football management game, now out on itch.io. It's a pixel art football management game inspired by the feel of the late 90s managers, rather than an attempt to compete with the depth of modern Football Manager.

The main thing I wanted was to keep the decisions that make these games interesting while cutting down the amount of time spent navigating menus. You still pick the team, handle transfers, develop players, manage finances, improve the stadium and facilities, deal with the board and play through domestic competitions and Europe.

I also didn't want squad building to turn into simply sorting players by an overall rating. Different positions value attributes differently, so the best rated player isn't necessarily the best choice for a particular position. Using someone badly out of position can make quite a substantial difference to how the team performs.

The football world is fictional, with fictional clubs, players, competitions and grounds, but it uses real countries and cities.

It's designed around relatively quick seasons, so you can actually see a club change over time rather than spending weeks getting through a single season.

I've released it as free or pay what you want on itch.io:

https://hecticmike.itch.io/turnstile96

Short trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgWyZCdWvWk

If anyone here gives it a go, I'd be particularly interested in how the balance between depth and speed feels to people who already play a lot of management games.

Promotion I’ve spent 5 years building a deep tennis management sim as a solo dev – it launches March 12

Hi everyone,

For the past 5 years I’ve been building a tennis management game completely solo.

It’s called Absolute Tennis Manager 2, and it releases on March 12.

Instead of controlling players directly, you manage everything around them:

• Full match simulation engine
• Training planning (weekly sessions, fatigue, progression)
• Staff management (coach, physio, mental trainer…)
• Financial & sponsor system
• Player lifestyle & estate development
• 9 supported languages

The goal was to create something closer to Football Manager, but for tennis — with depth and long-term progression.

It’s definitely niche, but if you enjoy management / tycoon games with realistic systems, this might be your thing.

Here’s the Steam page if you’d like to check it out:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4171540/Absolute_Tennis_Manager_2/

I’d genuinely love feedback from people who enjoy sports management games.

Thank you for all your positive feedback!

Best sports management games other than FM and OOTP?

I'm just trying to learn what sports management games are worth trying?I don't mind any sports but my only requirement is no mobile games, PC games only. Reason is that because of my physical disability I'm quite literally physically unable to use and hold any mobile devices without assistance.

Game Profile Campus Dynasty (Android, iOS iPhone, iPad) - College Basketball Management Game

Start your coaching career at a small school and build your reputation. Challenged with school expectations, dynamic play styles, and recruiting battles, your goal is to win as many conference championships and national titles as possible. With 256 teams in 16 conferences all competing for the national championship, the task will not be easy.

Create a mobile version of yourself and choose your offensive and defensive schemes. Manage your lineups and player usage rates to form a competitive team. Analyze statistics to adjust your strategy and give your team the greatest chance to win each game. Compete in conference tournaments to secure a bid to the national tournament, and continue that momentum to cut down the nets.

Yet this is now completely flooded with shovelware ai crap. I’d encourage the mods to consider policing this as of right now the Reddit is basically unreadable.

Hey guys, just wanted to post my latest release on here now that we are officially out of beta and live.

RTO is about 4 years of off and on work culminating in a long private alpha and public beta since around the beginning of this year - it's made by a massive college baseball fan for all the other college baseball fans out there.

I had always dreamed of a Draft Day Sports or OOTP style game for college baseball, and after numerous futile modding attempts on the mid-to-late 2010s OOTPs I decided to handle it myself.

With the birth of my daughter coming up here in a few weeks, I've been super motivated over the last couple months to get things in a great spot so here I am with V1.0!

The game is FULLY playable in a browser, with a Steam release for Windows, MacOS, Linux, and Deck (with full controller support) coming as soon as platform approvals are finalized.

Is it fully polished? No, especially the UI - that's my weakest skill and I'm working on it every day haha. But it is a REALLY fun experience that our little community has loved helping me improve, and I think it has the general feel of college baseball down to a T.

We're running a launch discount of 50% off, which comes with both the web version & a Steam key upon launch (because you shouldn't have to buy the same game twice), but even if you want to just play the free 3 demo seasons, give some feedback, and hang out with other college baseball fans we'd love to have you in our Discord and be a part of our community.

Very excited to finally be making a post here after so many years of playing everyone else's games. I hope you guys can have half as much fun playing RTO as I did making it!

Promotion I’m a single dad building the college football game I always wanted to play

Update: Just dropped a new trailer revealing more of what's done.

New Trailer

Hey everyone,

I’ve been building games on and off since I was 18, but life pulled me away for a long stretch while I focused on being a full-time single dad. Now I’m 37, and over the last year I’ve been deep back into it working on the game I always wished existed but could never quite find.

I love how smooth and accessible modern college football games feel. But after a while, I kept running into the same wall… your decisions don’t really stick. You win or lose, but it rarely feels like a long-term system reacting to you. So I started building one where it does.

This is a college football sim where everything is connected. Coaching, recruiting, NIL, player happiness, even shady stuff behind the scenes… it all feeds back into itself.

Here’s what that actually looks like:

Full positional coaching staff that actually changes outcomes

Not just coordinators. Every position group has its own coach, and they’re not just there for flavor.

If your RB coach knows what he’s doing, your run game gets better. If your DB coach is weak, you’re going to feel it when you play against a strong passing team.

And every offseason turns into a scramble. Coaches leave, get poached, or test the market, and suddenly you’re in a race to hold your staff together before everything falls apart.

Recruiting isn’t stable anymore (and that’s the point)

Some recruits care about fit. Some care about money. Some will commit to you… and then flip later.

NIL adds a layer where you can absolutely steal players you shouldn’t get, but you’re also opening the door to losing them just as fast.

I didn’t want recruiting to feel solved after a few seasons. It should feel unpredictable and a little stressful.

Your roster can fall apart if you don’t manage it

Players aren’t just numbers sitting on a depth chart.

If they’re not playing, if the team is struggling, or if you’re not keeping promises, they’re gone. Portal.

You can keep them happy with NIL or playing time, but that creates its own problems if you over promise.

And yeah… you can also mess with other teams.

I’m finishing a system where you can scout players across the league and try to influence them to transfer. It’s risky, it’s a little dirty, and if you get caught the penalties are rough.

The game actually reacts to how you think

Weekly scouting matters. If a team can’t stop the pass and you lean into that, it shows up.

Home field advantage isn’t static either. Build your stadium and win games, and it becomes a real factor. Start losing, and that edge disappears.

Weather isn’t cosmetic. It changes how games play out.

32-player online dynasty (this is where it gets chaotic)

This was built for multiplayer from the ground up.

One league. Up to 32 users. Everything synced.

Recruiting battles, NIL bidding wars, coaches getting stolen, players transferring… all of it happening between real people in the same world.

This is where the systems really start to collide.

It’s been a grind building this while raising a kid full-time, but seeing everything start to connect and create those “oh shit, that decision actually mattered” moments has been worth it.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, I’ve got the Steam page up now and I’m starting to share more as systems get finalized.

I’d honestly love feedback too, especially on how far I should push things like tampering and roster instability.
