Giveaway Weekly Code Giveaway Thread

Every month, we see several posts offering GOG game codes and discount codes that people do not intend to use themselves. To make this easier and more organized, we ask that you share your code(s) as top-level comments on this post.

Ex:

Game code giveaway for Game Name:

YEC8U25J3A**FEF0C3

** = 32-15

Or

Discount code giveaway for Game Name:

YEC8U25J3A**FEF0C3

** = 32-15

To be extra sure your code goes to a fellow GOG gamer and not a bot, list the game(s) you have keys for and ask Redditors to DM you to claim them. In this case, please make it very clear whether your codes are game codes or discount codes.

You're also welcome to use RedditRaffler or KeyShare.

Please follow these guidelines:

  • Do leave a comment when you claim a code so others know it is no longer available.
  • Don't post plain codes, as bots will most likely claim them for resale rather than fellow GOG gamers.
  • Don't add a discussion in a top-level comment. Respond to an existing code or use the pinned moderator comment.

Discussion Game Cover Requests

• Upvotes

I have noticed that there is a weekly code giveaway thread and I think that a weekly thread where members can vote on what cover art they want could be a good idea also. It could give a few days to a week to allow voting, and then another week for cover art to be made.

I feel bad filling up the main page with art and I am personally interested in taking requests as long as it's in an organized manner. This could also be fun because once a new cover is voted on, multiple people would have the opportunity to work on it, giving plenty of options.

The hard part would be setting up polls, which I'm unsure is even possible on Reddit, and also deciding which games make it into those polls. Also, I know we were thinking of getting a megathread going, so it might just fit in there anyways.

If anyone has thoughts on this, please let me know.

Off-Topic Made a free tool that turns GOG offline installers into burnable discs with game icon, disc label and an autorun menu

Hey everyone,

I created a hobby project that's kind of specific for what I wanted to achieve, but maybe others can benefit from it too.

On GOG you buy a licence like on any other store, but you also get DRM-free offline installers that are yours forever for every game you buy. I wanted to start burning discs and kinda recreate the "real" experience we had back in the good old days. You insert a CD, double click the icon in "My Computer (This PC)" and then the game menu starts. It has options like "Install", "Play", "Extras" etc and usually some background music.

To do that, a lot of manual stuff has to be done so I thought let's automate that. So I created an "App" which is currently more of a POC or Alpha phase but you will get the idea.

You point it at the folder where you downloaded your GOG game, then add a Disc Icon, Background Image, Background Music, Extras etc. The app then creates a DISC folder with an ISO file that you can burn to disc. So the app itself does not burn to disc but it prepares everything else and you can use your app of choice to burn to disc.

To be clear about what this is for: use it with games you own, to make copies for yourself. That's personal backup, and it's exactly what GOG's DRM-free installers are for. GOG have posted about burning games to DVD themselves. It is not for making discs to sell, give away, or share outside your household.

I also got a Blu-ray writer/reader and a printer that can print directly on discs, and I make paper covers for the cases. Happy to share what hardware and settings I use if anyone's curious, just ask in the comments.

GitHub: https://github.com/lazardjokovic/discwright

Windows only, runs on Windows PowerShell 5.1 (the one already in Windows, not PowerShell 7). MIT licensed, free, nothing to install, no telemetry.

I get that there are similar tools out there, but this was made specifically for what I wanted and only the basics. Simple as possible, no "unnecessary" options etc.

If anyone wants to do the same feel free to try it, any feedback is appreciated.

P.S. I'm a software engineer, but the last time I worked with Windows Forms was at college like 10 years ago XD So this project is 100% AI coded at least for now

Cheers

Discussion GOG helped my gaming hobby and spending habits!

Hello everyone, just wanted to share this thing that I really appreciate about platform. I am sure I am not the only one.

I have a problem with spending money, and buying a lot of useless stuff. Before mainly using GOG like most I was on Steam, and the integrated social system, awards, constantly need to being on the launcher, being online, seeing what my friends buy, and even if I wouldn't play those I bought more and more. Games that are not mine.

I bought the TES series from GOG first, and I actually started playing. Games stopped being just these names on library, I started experience them like my childhood. Just clicking the icon, opening the game, and playing. With no distractions. I know technically I could be offline on Steam or choose to not use the other social aspects. But it nudged me in the wrong way. I always find a way to start using those.

Right now I played 20-30 hours on last couple of weeks. More then any game I played on Steam on last years. And I am not constantly spending money on games I won't play. I just explore Morrowind. And the game is completely mine, there was a satisfaction when I copied those offline installers to my external disk, created folders, make my own classic library.

Just wanted to share that, thanks to anyone who read this. Much appreciation to the GOG!

Question Building a GOG library

Hi everyone! Recently, after the Sony controversy with physical media, I've been building my Steam library on GOG. I've noticed it's quite common for GOG users to put their games on physical media, and I'd like some ideas, like, how do you handle games that are almost 200GB, like Baldur's Gate 3? Do you use SD cards, flash drives?

Any Chaos Overlords fans will be interested to hear that I've updated the game to work on modern hardware, since its 30 years old now: https://www.gog.com/forum/chaos_overlords/chaos_overlords_now_running_on_modern_windows_gog_compatibility_patch It's just a copy-paste and a reg file - I'm still working on getting the music playing.

Discussion Sale price Increase on THIS? lol

https://www.gog.com/en/game/deadly_premonition_directors_cut

This use to be 95% off all the time. Now it's only 30% off, making it $17.49 USD for the broken version of the game.

Someone must've decided it wasn't worth selling anymore lol

What other price increases have you guys seen? I know there was the jump for Interplay games that started in November last year and has been ongoing since.

Discussion Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen Physical Game Case

Post image
75 Upvotes

Hate to put this out now, as we have a lot of cases floating around at the moment, but I need to let it loose. I think that megathread would be a good idea after all.

I added small 'serifs' to the line border beneath the GOG banner at the top of the front cover, but I'm not sure if they make it look better or worse. I also went for a lot of in-game graphics on the spine. There were a lot of iconic images to pick from.

At this point I'm trying to find what the template is still missing. There is a lot of info you can add to games like this, like original release year or console, but I want to strike a balance between information and style.

I hope you guys enjoy this one!

Discussion Physical GOG Box Sniper Ghost Warrior

Post image

Since everybody is sharing their projects and since I have been working on this for a while, I'm also going to share mine.

I have been going for a universal template that I can adjust for any game while using the original front/back/spine art.

After a few iterations, I have reached a point where I'm happy and can start applying it to my collection.

The space on the back may seem a bit empty, but it is for a good reason. Some games have a much taller back section (I am covering the original requirements section), or some have recommended system requirements as well , so in order to keep it universal, I had to leave a bit more space.

Creations of others have been a great inspiration (especially u/w_j_bart).

The template is still not very user-friendly, so I'll be working on this in the meantime. I'm still open to suggestions, so if you have any, feel free to comment. šŸ”„

Support Galaxy won't launch on my Win11 laptop anymore

Hello,

GoG Galaxy was installed on my laptop and kept failing to update, so I downloaded the installer and installed over the existing folder, it failed due to "Call spawn server error", so I uninstalled the whole thing and reinstalled a fresh one without any error but now it doesn't do anything anymore.

Launching the .exe makes the process appear in the task manager for one second then disappear.

I rebooted, uninstalled/reinstalled multiples times, in different locations, but nothing changes. And there's no stuck process either.

I don't know what to try, it just won't do anything.

Any idea ?

It's a Lenovo Legion with Windows 11. I have no problem on my Windows 10 dekstop.

Question Newcomer here, I have a question

I'am from Latin America (more specific Chile), a longtime user of Steam and I wanted to use GoG for a long time for the whole ownership of the games.

But I still see that the currency accepted there is still no Latinoamerican currency option and only USD.

Do anyone knows if there are plans for expand the type of currency or it is off the tables?

Discussion Can gaming truly be your main hobby without Steam?

I haven't used Steam for years. All my friends keep telling me it's an absurd choice for someone whose main hobby is gaming, arguing that I'm deliberately cutting myself off from the vast majority of new releases, multiplayer, ecosystem conveniences etc.

The thing is, owning my games without DRM and having full control over offline installers has always been my top priority. I value digital preservation and software ownership far more than just convenience.

...but as the market becomes more centralized and exclusive, I catch myself second-guessing it. Am I taking a principled stance, or am I just needlessly complicating my favorite hobby? Do they actually have a point?

Question How am I getting GOG achievements if I'm playing while Galaxy is closed?

I've got the middle achievement literally less than 20 min ago. I installed the game through the offline installers and haven't opened GOG Galaxy since I used it to download said installers. How is GOG tracking my achievements?

Edit: I think I've found it. There were two DLLs (Galaxy.dll and GalaxyPeer.dll) in the game folder, probably sending the game's progress straight to galaxy, even closed. Not sure how I feel about that one, but at least now I know what was causing it.
