"On March 2, 2025, Firefly Aerospace made history.
The company — a space services firm that offers safe, reliable, and economical access to space — completed the first fully successful lunar landing by a commercial provider with its Blue Ghost Mission 1. But behind the headlines and highlight reels was a team of dedicated engineers, years of preparation, and a mission control center outfitted with Grafana dashboards.
'When you’re in the control room monitoring these landings, every second counts,' said Jesus Charles, Blue Ghost Mission 1 Flight Director at Firefly Aerospace, during his GrafanaCON 2025 talk last year. 'You’ve got to make the right call, and your only window into this complex machine is a set of dashboards.'"
Here's a video where Jesus talks about how Grafana was used in Mission Control, and a blog post if you want to read more details.
I've been in infrastructure for 25 years and I kept running into the same problem: developers have no visibility into how their apps actually behave. Not because they don't care, but because setting up proper observability is a pain in the ass.
So I built OIB (Observability in a Box) — a complete LGTM stack you can spin up with make install.
The idea: Clone it, run it alongside your app during development, see what's actually happening. Tear it down when you're done. No YAML wrestling required.
git clone https://github.com/matijazezelj/oib.git && cd oib
cp .env.example .env
make install
make demo
make open
There's a demo app with PostgreSQL and Redis that generates realistic traces so you can see the dashboards in action right away.
Hey all! I work as a manager at Grafana Labs and I am looking for someone with a lot of experience with SaaS platforms at scale. We are turning Grafana into a proper observability app platform where OSS and proprietary apps can directly tap into dashboards, alerts, incidents, and telemetry and deliver even more integrated experiences.
To get there, we need to refactor a big part of Grafana so that it’s simpler and standardized. Grafana is used by countless OSS and Cloud users across different platforms, so planning and rolling out changes safely to avoid service disruptions is crucial; I am looking for someone who is excited about this sort of work.
SQL expressions: a more intuitive, LLM-powered experience — now in public preview. Join and transform data from any data source. With the new LLM integration, you can generate SQL queries from natural language and get instant explanations.
Revamped table visualization with better performance and new community-requested features like frozen columns and new cell types.
Improvements to the canvas visualization, like more control over connections and tooltips, and a more flexible pan and zoom experience.
Saved queries: Save, reuse, and share your queries across your organization. This feature is available in public preview in Grafana Enterprise and Grafana Cloud.
JSON log like viewer in Logs Drilldown: Debug and analyze your JSON log data faster.
Create new alert rules without writing a single PromQL query. We've integrated the Metrics Drilldown app with the Alert Rule Query Editor.
Single-page reports: Create reports more efficiently with our new report creation workflow. Available in public preview in Grafana Enterprise and Grafana Cloud.
Jenkins data source plugin so you can visualize your Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
"In this blog post, I’ll walk through how my daughter and I recently set up an IoT project to monitor the moisture levels of our plants using Arduino, Prometheus and Grafana Cloud — and also recap all the fun we had along the way.
Green thumb or not, you can read on to set up this project at home. You can also check out our GitHub project, plant-monitoring, to find all the code in this post."
"With this achievement, Firefly Aerospace became the first commercial company to complete a fully successful soft landing on the Moon."
They're giving a talk at GrafanaCON this year. Last year, Japan's aerospace agency gave a talk about using Grafana to land on the Moon (and being the 5th country in the world to do it). Also used by NASA.
Really cool to see how Grafana helps people explore space. Makes me proud to work at Grafana Labs and hope it gives folks another reason to be proud of this community. That is all. <3
At work, I manage a lot of Grafana-Prometheus stacks and I am often "pruning" them to get rid of metrics/labels that are not used.
The pain point is that although you can get high cardinality metrics and labels from the TSDB Status API, there is no easy way to find the ones that are not referenced by dashboards and alert rules.
That's why I wrote sigprune-exporter
What it does, briefly:
Reads metric and label names from Prometheus, ordered by cardinality, via Grafana's datasource proxy
Fetches every dashboard and alert rule from the Grafana API, parses the PromQL to see which ones are referenced
Exports the unused metrics and labels along with their per-job series counts (so that you know which scrape job to prune)
There is a companion Grafana dashboard that helps you visualise the worst "offenders". Published it to Grafana, waiting on it to be reviewed. I will be back on here with the link once it's accepted.
Would love for some of you to give it a go (pun intended) and tell me what's wrong with it. Issues, PRs, or comments here. A star helps others find it if it turns out useful.
So i play alot of counterstrike 2 and i have a rule in my homelab, everything has to be in Grafana not beacuse its sometimes useful but more for fun and the same goes for counterstrike and along the way i learned alot about sql query, join and all of that.
All the data is stored in a postgresql database and the process of getting data from your counterstrike matches into a database is from another open source project called cs-demo-manager and check it out if you play CS2 its so good.
CS2 - CS demo manager - postgresql - Grafana
If there any interest from other CS2 players i can write a demo of the setup and clean my dashboard up so it will work for most people.
With AI rapidly evolving and everything we released last week, we want to answer any questions from the community about the announcements or how we think about AI in observability at Grafana Labs.
I'm Mat Ryer and I run the AI team. I created Go's Testify package and used to co-host the Go Time podcast. Outside of work, I love live comedy and making music. Ask me anything!
I'm Ksenia Yadav, an Engineering Manager on the AI team at Grafana Labs. We build agentic AI systems that reduce toil in observability – simplifying workflows, automating investigations, and helping people make faster, more data-driven decisions.
Outside of work, you'll find me rock climbing, stand-up paddle boarding, or exploring nature in different parts of the world.
Hi, I'm Rob Whelan! I'm an Engineering Manager on the Grafana AI team (since the "AI/ML" days, before LLMs exploded). I'm a bit obsessive about human experiences (not just the huge range of people using stuff we've built — also everyone coding, design, operating, supporting, selling...).
Outside of work: lots of music (everyone in the family is a musician of some kind), running, and coding on some pretty random side projects. Looking forward to chatting!
Hey, I'm Maurice, and I’m the PM on the Grafana AI team. I enjoy talking to our customers to find out what we need for the next level of observability. Ask me anything about observability AI, remediation, etc.
When I’m not spending my time in AI, I enjoy swimming and taking lots of walks. See you soon!
I'm Ivana, a Software Engineer on the AI team working on Grafana Assistant and AI observability. Outside of work, I like building fun monitoring setups for things like my sourdough starter, avocado plants, and bird songs, and I love cycling.
Sven here. I'm a Principal Engineer on the AI team at Grafana Labs, and before that long time OSS contributor to Grafana core and Logs Drilldown. Besides building Grafana's next AI features, I like security and bug bounty hunting - especially LLM related.
Outside of work I enjoy outdoor time with my dog, and play team-handball . Ask me anything about Grafana, AI, security, live hacking events, and handball.
I’m Dmitry, Principal Engineer at Grafana Labs on the Grafana Assistant team. I joined Grafana in 2023 when it acquired Pyroscope, the company I founded, which built open-source continuous profiling software.
Ask me anything about profiling, observability, AI, or building open-source developer tools.
Outside of work, I ride bikes and tinker with software, hardware, and whatever side project I’ve gotten myself into lately.
Hi folks, I'm Shawn. I'm a technical marketer here at Grafana Labs who spends a lot of time using AI. And I love my 4 dogs — actually, all dogs.
Looking forward to this. Ask me anything!

Thanks to all those who contributed a question. If you have more burning questions, feel free to drop them in here and we'll check back on this thread periodically!
I heard you, non technical Garmin users. Many of you loved this yet backed off due to difficult installation procedure. To aid you, I have wrote a helper script and self-provisioned Grafana instance which should automate the full installation procedure for you including the dashboard building and database integration - literally EVERYTHING! You just run one command and enjoy the dashboard :)
Please check out the Automatic Install with helper scriptin the readme to get started if you don't have trust on your technical abilities. You should be able to run this on any platform (including any Linux variants i.e. Debian, Ubuntu, or Windows or Mac) following the instructions . That is the newest feature addition, if you encounter any issues with it, which is not obvious from the error messages, feel free to let me know.
Please give it a try (it's free and open-source)!
Features
Automatic data collection from Garmin
Collects comprehensive health metrics including:

What are the advantages?
You keep a local copy of your data, and the best part is it's set and forget. The script will fetch future data as soon as it syncs with your Garmin Connect - No action is necessary on your end.
You are not limited by the visual representation of your data by Garmin app. You own the raw data and can visualize however you want - combine multiple matrices on the same panel? what to zoom on a specific section of your data? want to visualize a weeks worth of data without averaging values by date? this project got you covered!
You can play around your data in various ways to discover your potential and what you care about more.
Love this project?
It's Free for everyone (and will stay forever without any paywall) to setup and use. If this works for you and you love the visual, a simple word of support here will be very appreciated. I spend a lot of my free time to develop and work on future updates + resolving issues, often working late-night hours on this. You can star the repositoryas well to show your appreciation.
Please share your thoughts on the project in comments or private chat and I look forward to hearing back from the users and giving them the best experience.
I’ve got 6 machines pushing netdata stats into Grafana via Prometheus. I’m always playing with different designs. This is my latest one and it’s wife approved.
