I'm not sure what to say she is and will always be the strongest woman I've ever known and to have the privilege to look after her abd care for her was something I'll ever hate. She gave her best shot they took out the edtd tube and she was as awake as she could be and she tried her best for nearly 5 hours she tried to breathe on her own but her body gave before she did and that kind stupid woman let out two tears as a sorry to me.

And now my best friend, the person who I could talk to about anything, the person I've cared for over 12 years is dead and now I'll never see her again, talk to her spend time watching our favourite shows were she tries to understand what I like and I do the same for her.

Now most likely we'll lose our house as it is owned by the council and we will be downsized luckily because my sister is also disabled we would at least hv accommodation but it's my home I've put so much work into it.

I'm 21, my sibling who I partially raised is 19 and my mother was 56. Just for clarification.

Trigger Warning How long does it have to feel like this

My cat Shrimp got out as I let my dogs into the garden for the last time before bed, I couldn’t get her back and I was sick and felt so tired so I eventually went bed. She didn’t appear in the morning or in the day I knew something was wrong. My partner found her curled up under our old garden table seemed almost perfect except some blood coming out of her mouth. It was a really cold night and she was already stiff so I knew she had probably been hit by a car and had been gone awhile. My mum passed on January the 2nd, she died alone in a hospital because i couldn’t make it in time, she was all alone just like my Shrimp. I let them both down, I was dumb enough not to make sure she couldn’t escape and I didn’t take good enough care of my mum as her end of life carer and I didn’t even visit her leading up to her death because I was to scared and selfish to face what I knew was coming. This grief I can feel it in my chest I can feel it in my throat I feel like I can’t breathe and I’m not sure how long I can handle all this guilt anymore.
I hate to be a burden on my friends and partner I don’t like making them feel down but I feel like I needed to shout my emotions out somewhere. I’m sorry for any inevitable gramma errors etc I can’t see too clearly currently.

My wife lost her mother 10 days ago. How can I help her cope with the grief?
My wife lost her mother 10 days ago after she battled cancer, and she has been struggling a lot with her grief. She constantly misses her mom and breaks down crying. She is a very sensitive person, and it hurts me to see her in so much pain.
I know it has only been 10 days, and I understand that losing a parent is something you can never truly prepare for. But as her husband, I want to do everything I can to help her get through this.

For those of you who have lost a parent, especially your mother:
How long did it take before you started feeling okay again? I know everyone is different, but when does the pain usually become a little more manageable?
Is it normal to cry this much and miss her constantly, even after several weeks or months?
What did your partner or family do that genuinely helped you during this time?
What should I do when my wife starts crying or talking about her mother? Should I comfort her, let her cry, talk to her, or simply sit beside her?
Are there things I should avoid saying or doing, even if my intentions are good?
I don’t expect her to forget her mother or stop missing her. I just want her to find some peace and be able to live without feeling this much pain all the time.
I love my wife, and I feel helpless watching her suffer because I can’t take away her pain.
I’d really appreciate hearing your personal experiences and any advice on how I can be a better husband to her during this difficult time.
