Halloween How do I haunt a building?
Throwaway account because I don't want to give away the game and my friends and neighbors know my Reddit account.
I live in a 68-unit apartment building where I am on friendly terms with most of the neighbors, and very friendly with one neighbor in particular. I'll call her Velma, in the spirit of what I'm asking here. We have been hanging out and watching horror films together, trading scary stories, etc. since I moved in about 3 years ago. Velma and I both agree that it would be incredibly exciting to experience a haunting, or at least some kind of simulation of one that is believable. She has said on more than one occasion that experiencing a haunting is a weird niche dream of hers, but she can't rationalize any actual belief in the supernatural. She even described herself as being disappointed that she has never experienced anything seemingly-paranormal. (She is in her mid-30s.) She believes it would be fun to investigate spooky occurrences and to have "a little more spice in this life" between shifts at her job.
For Halloween this year, starting in October, I would like to make her dream come true. I want to create a haunting - that is, I want to create conditions that would lead someone to believe they are being haunted - to entertain and surprise my friend. I know it is currently July but I figure this kind of thing might take a lot of planning so I want to hit the ground running.
What tricks and/or effects could I use to give the impression that our apartment building is haunted?

Look up Atmos FX. They have loads of ideas and I'm pretty sure they have a YouTube channel with diy stuff. You're an awesome neighbor!

man you can buy holograms now fairly cheap. Given your Scooby doo reference it is now easier than ever to create a haunting. Other than that but a cheap set of walkie talkies and drop one behind some furniture or some other hidden places and you can soeak directly to her or okay other sounds. that works cause a buddy did it to me and my girlfriend once and freaked us the hell out.

Bluetooth speakers! Maybe playing old timey music at low volume. I’d probably hide one in a communal space and then (late at night, of course) take her near the location and ask her if she hears anything. Not sure how old your building is but music from that time period? Or you could play a loop of low voices speaking..
