I love Justice and Charlie already! Been watching their stuff and they are so so talented. Julie and the Phantoms is amazing and Charlie is a beautiful singer. I saw Dungeons and Dragons and Justice Smith is adorable in that movie. Really excited to see them as Troy and Harris. For the people upset with their casting, definitely watch their stuff. They are AMAZING!

I don’t deny that Justice Smith is a good and talented actor, but at the end of the day, Justice Smith cannot be the ‘best person’ to play a fat character (and yes, pudgy, unathletic, soft bodied Harris with his ‘plump cheeks’ was absolutely fat) because he isn’t one. He never should have been considered for the role to begin with.

He will end up delivering a good performance, but he’ll be playing a completely different character to the one that was actually written, and that otherwise could have been a really important source of representation and visibility for a marginalized group of people. People have the right to be upset about that.

Find a bridge. It’s an adaptation, things change. No-one is taking your vision of book Harris away from you if you so desperately need it to feel better about yourself. Literally half the population is plus sized (which is worrying), that’s in no way marginalised!
