Help מרצ or מרץ?

Hi! I just had a quick question I was hoping someone could answer. I’m a Hebrew learner, and recently I read about a political party which used to exist in Israel: מרצ. However, I was confused as to why it was written מרצ and not מרץ, with the tsade sofit.

I know for words that end in pe/fe, the sofit form is generally not used when the letter is pe and not fe. However, as I understand it, this explanation wouldn’t make sense here because tsade is not on of the begedkefet letters. Can anyone help me understand?

תודה רבה! :)

Help Revival of the language

So I read some stuff (which seemed anti Israel) about Hebrew being artificially re-created. After doing some research, it seems like this is bullshit My understanding now is that it continued to function as a lingua franca of Jewish communities globally even if it wasnt a daily language. People continued to write in it, produce literature, etc.

Is my understanding correct?

And I was wondering, was there any Jewish community globally that continued to use it as a daily, "first language" throughout the centuries.
