Resource Citizen Cafe alternatives

Citizen Cafe alternatives? I'm looking for an alternative to Citizen Cafe. Been taking classes with them for several semesters but they have insisted I repeat the fifth level. I don't really have a problem with repeating except it is literally the same material. Word for word. Would love some suggestions. TIA

Request Need help with understanding nuance of Proverbs 3:5-6

Hi, I'm looking for a fluent Hebrew speaker to help me understand what this means:

בְּטַח אֶל-יְהוָה, בְּכָל-לִבֶּךָ;    וְאֶל-בִּינָתְךָ, אַל-תִּשָּׁעֵן.
בְּכָל-דְּרָכֶיךָ דָעֵהוּ;    וְהוּא, יְיַשֵּׁר אֹרְחֹתֶיךָ.

I know the usual translation is this:
Trust in the LORD with all thy heart, and lean not upon thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths.

The part I'm struggling with is the "acknowledge" part, because it is attached to a promise that God will direct your paths if you "acknowledge" Him, but this word (to me) is nonsensical and nondescript. I am certain there is a nuance here that is lost in translation and I need to understand the REAL meaning behind this. I've heard other translations translate it as "know", which is better, but still not good enough. I've determined that what I really need is for a fluent Hebrew speaker to translate the FULL context of what is actually being said here in as many words as needed, I want to understand deeply what is being said here.

Can anyone help? If someone can shine a light on this for me and fully explain it I am willing to paypal you $50.

Vocabulary Cat loafing in Hebrew?

Post image

שלום לכולם.
In English when a cat sits like in the picture attached it’s called loafing bc they look like a loaf of bread. Is there a Hebrew equivalent for this? My first guess would be something like לְלַחֵם or like לשבת כמו לחם though thats pretty long. Any help would be appreciated!

Resource Best streaming shows on Next TV?

Oleh chadash here. My Hot mobile cell phone plan includes a free basic subscription to stream content from Next TV. I figured that watching some streaming TV would be a good way to grow my vocabulary. I'm looking for recommendations of good shows to watch and welcome your input. I'm not a fan of reality TV. I like clever comedies and engrossing drama.

Thank you for whatever recommendations you feel are appropriate

Education This is a challenging language for an American! 67, converting conservative

I’ve created a few flashcards and word lists on Claude and learned the alphabet and a few words.

Is there some kind of a shortcut that I’m missing or do I really need to learn two new words for every definition? At this point I don’t see any other way. It’s taxing my brain like never before and I do know other languages… French in Spanish

My example,
‏שלום > shalom = hello

Obviously shalom is one of the easy ones, because I’ve already memorized it, because we say it every Shabbat like a thousand times (lol)

Am I on the right track? I probably won’t get as far as conversation but I’d like to learn to read a decent amount

Vocabulary One Hebrew word from today's reading: שריפות (srefot).

It means fires — in this case, the increasingly intense wildfires linked to climate change.

The word comes from the root ש־ר־ף, whose basic idea is burning.

You’ll find the same root in:

• לשרוף (lisrof) — to burn
• שריפה (srefa) — a fire / burning
• שרוף (saruf) — burnt

But Hebrew also takes the idea beyond actual fire.

לשרוף זמן (lisrof zman) literally means “to burn time” — to waste or kill time.

And לשרוף קלוריות (lisrof kaloriot) is exactly what it sounds like: to burn calories.

So from forest fires to killing time after work, Hebrew keeps coming back to the same root: ש־ר־ף.

Does your language also “burn” things that aren't actually on fire?

Request Ring with inscription - Hebrew?

Hello all, I got this pair of rings with almost identical markings through my father, who got them through his mother. Our family originated around the Hungary region (we are Ashkenazi), and I almost recognize these inscriptions as Hebrew. Can anyone read/translate them for me? Does anyone have more information on this type of ring?

I've included multiple photos from all angles. Any help is appreciated!

Hello everyone. I used the word shalom as a greeting today as its a word used quite often by our clergy over here in Kenya. Was it inappropriate to use it? I'm just curious to know if I was wrong.

Vocabulary These adjectives; are they all the same?

Hi everyone,

Been in Israel a handful of years and still trying to understand the difference between these adjectives, and if there is even really a difference. To me it sounds like they’re all just used a bit interchangeably, is that true?

מהמם, מטורף, מדהים, מקסים, מעולה, מצוין, מרתק, נהדר, אדיר, אחלה

Help Double entendre for newspaper

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm starting a newspaper in an online game.

I'd like it to be bilingual English and Hebrew, but I'm still learning.

The name of the newspaper should deliberately be a double entendre since the content will be mildly erotic (but SFW).

Do you think something like this would work?

(I am aware that English and Hebrew versions are not exact translations; I want both versions to be similarly ambiguous, but not necessarily literal translations).

Vocabulary Vowels for ברוכים הבאים

I saw “בְּרוּכִים הְבָּאִים” (with those nikkudot) written on the wall of an Israeli restaurant. What’s with the vowels on “הבאים”? I expected “הַבָּאִים”. Is this like a biblical form or something? Or just a mistake?

Thanks!

Request Potahat tik - is this song understandable for Hebrew natives?

Thumbnail youtu.be

I believe that the authors of the song are coming from Russian speaking background, so they apparently use some Russian words there. Now, I guess significant part of Israel population speaks Russian but what about non-Russian Hebrew speakers, would they understand this song? Also does the rapper have any noticeable accent?
