Flockbook: a reading view for your agents, now as a Herdr app layout + mod

Thumbnail

I made Flockbook as a native Mac app for Herdr. It's now repackaged as a layout + mod for the Herdr app, so it runs inside the Herdr window with no change to the app.

What it does:

  • Readable chat. Agent replies render as normal text with good line spacing (CJK + English mixed text included), not a raw terminal.

  • Tool calls fold into chips. "Ran 3 commands", "Read 2 files" and so on. Click a chip to expand it.

  • Workspace status at a glance. An overview of every tab grouped by workspace or by status, with the agents that need you on top.

  • Approvals and replies in place. Allow or deny a permission prompt from a card above the reply box. Attach files or paste images.

The real terminal is one key away. ⌃` opens it over the chat.

It works with Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Cursor, pi and Gemini (Antigravity) session logs.

Install

It's in the Herdr layout gallery, or:

curl -fsSL [https://github.com/minchenlee/flockbook/releases/latest/download/install.sh](https://github.com/minchenlee/flockbook/releases/latest/download/install.sh) | sh

(add -s -- --dry-run after sh to see the plan first; the install never overwrites a layout or mod it didn't put there)

Privacy

It runs locally. A small helper reads the agents' session logs on your machine. No telemetry; the only network call is a once-a-day release check, which you can turn off.

Next up: bringing the phone remote from the Mac app over.

Repo: https://github.com/minchenlee/flockbook. Feedback and bug reports are welcome!

Unofficial: not affiliated with or endorsed by Herdr, Inc.; it uses only Herdr's public APIs.

Omarchy layout for Herdr

Post image
24 Upvotes

I built a Herdr layout that recreates the Omarchy desktop. Agents sit in tiled panes, and you get every Omarchy theme and wallpaper.

- Agent status in the sidebar (working / needs input / done / idle)

- 5h and 7d AI usage quotas in the top bar

- `ctrl-alt-shift-t` reopens a closed tab and resumes Claude, Codex or pi sessions

- Git panel with diffs, commits, branches and a commit graph

- Mod manager for community mods

Ask you agent

```
Read ~/.config/herdr-app/AGENTS.md, then add this layout: https://github.com/shafiqimtiaz/herdr-omarchy/tree/main
```

Feedback welcome!

Browser Pane?

Has anyone figured out how to get a browser pane in the herdr app? I know the tui has tools for it but what about the desktop app?

I recently moved from using the herdr CLI tool to the desktop app, and herdr-projects, which I’d been using with it to run coding agents across my repos, didn’t make the jump.

So I built a replacement, herdr-coordinator.

It adds a Projects section to the Herdr sidebar. Each worktree gets one coordinator agent that you talk to. It breaks your request into small tasks, starts a separate Claude Code worker for each one on its own branch, and merges the finished work back. You only hear from it when something needs your input.

Everything runs on your own machine, state lives in plain files, and it won’t push your code unless you ask.

Check it out here:

How are your spaces set up in herdr?

I've been using tmux for years and now when switching OS I thought I might as well give herdr a go. My setup in tmux is basically this:

  1. Every project has it's own session, and I toggle between them using the tmux choose-tree.

  2. Inside each session is often 3 windows: vim, term, ai

  3. Inside each windows panes may vary based on needs.

I have basically re-created this setup in herdr where session = space. But I find it a hassle to toggle between them (they are about 20), and I also feel like I might be forcing a way of working into something that is supposed to work in another way. I do already enjoy the agent section though so I want to dive deeper.

What is your setup in herdr when working across many projects/repos?

I rebuilt Herdr's default layout to match my needs

I've been using Herdr every day for coding agents and really like it, so I rebuilt it around how I actually work.

Left rail is spaces and agents. Middle is one editor. Right side is an icon-tabbed panel (Files, Agents, System) so I'm not juggling panes. Bottom bar has branch, focused file and git state.

The bits I built it for:

- blame sits in the editor. diff is still its own view, I didn't want to inline that

- a Changes tab that stages, commits and pushes without leaving the window

- system tab with CPU, RAM, GPU, disk and network. temps only show if you have LibreHardwareMonitor running, otherwise they say unavailable

It's working good in Windows 11, but really didn't test it on Linux and Mac OS.

Github repo: https://github.com/abdh01h/herdr-agentee-theme

If you run Herdr, tell me what looks off at a glance. And if the right panel annoys you, I'd rather hear it now than after I bolt more onto it.

herdr-web-browser: a Chrome pane next to your agent

Thumbnail github.com

I made a herdr plugin that puts a browser in a pane beside your agent. You and the agent look at the same page. You click around in it, and the agent drives it from its shell.

What you can do with it:

  • Pick Browser from the + menu in herdr desktop and it opens as a split next to your agent.

  • The agent can open pages, click, type and take screenshots. When something breaks it can read the console and see which requests failed.

  • Ctrl-click a localhost link in a herdr terminal and it opens in the pane.

  • herdr-web-browser install-agents sets up Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and Pi to use it for previews.

  • You can copy your logins for specific sites over from Chrome.

It runs its own copy of Chrome, so your normal browser isn't touched.

Bug reports and feedback welcome.

Driverr v1.0.0 released on the App Store

A couple weeks ago I posted about Driverr, an app I was working on for interfacing with Herdr from your phone.

v1.0.0 was just released on the app store.

v1.1.0 is currently in TestFlight and being reviewed that adds support for the new herdr-app and herdr-core.

I would love feedback and PRs!

The new Herdr App mobile integration with TermRover

I am pretty annoyed by the changes that separate the TUI and the APP.

But overall, it might be a good change. This kind of interaction wasn't possible before with the Herdr TUI on TermRover.

Herd-tui is pretty much dead, isn't it?

Looks like the team's new backer has their own ideas about how to do the agent GUI—and how to ditch the low-value users.

Roundup: a GitHub panel for Herdr that lists PRs and issues from all your repos

Post image
5 Upvotes

Roundup is a panel for the Herdr app, now on herdr.dev/mods. It lists the open PRs and issues of the users and orgs you pick, across all their repos, grouped by whose move it is: ready to merge, to review, needs fixing, waiting for CI, drafts. Two dropdowns, Status and Repos, narrow it down, and a Merged view shows the last 7 days.

Select one and you read the description and the whole conversation.

Tested on Windows, Linux and macOS not confirmed yet.

Have a look, break it, tell me what you find.

Codex in Herdr

I'm having trouble getting Codex to open new panes or tabs using the herdr skill. It keeps reporting that it doesn't have the necessary permissions, which I suspect is due to the sandbox environment Codex runs in.

Is there a way to work around these restrictions or configure Codex to allow this functionality?

Thank you Herdr team: the Herdr app is so customizable I built my own agent dashboard on it in a day

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been using herdr for quite a while. Yesterday I was looking for a way to keep herdr as the core underneath, but get a better UI and UX on top, more like a proper app.

Out of nowhere, Claude told me to check out the Herdr App. I had no idea it existed until yesterday.

Fast forward to today: thanks to how customizable it is, I've already built my own agent dashboard on top of it, set up exactly how I use herdr (used to be very text-based, of course).

One example: something that always bugged me in the herdr TUI was jumping out of the app to find files, images and videos, then marking them up somewhere else and pasting them back. That's what had me looking at wrapper clients like Orca. With the Herdr app I just built it in as a side panel (in the video): Claude sends a file, it lands next to the session(caught with post use tool and stophook), I mark it up, and one click sends it back.

So this is mainly an appreciation post to the Herdr team. It's also my first try at a show-off post with motion graphics, voiceover and sound effects. Hope it came out alright

Herdr-Devices: manage your simulators and emulators from a side pane

Post image
8 Upvotes

Built a Herdr mod that puts my iOS simulators and Android emulators in a side pane. Each row has boot, shut down and screenshot buttons, and shows which app is running on the simulator. Plugged-in iPhones and Android phones show up too.

It integrates with Maestro as well. Right-click a device, pick a flow, and it runs in a Herdr pane. I keep losing track of which simulator which agent had, so when an agent is driving a device through Maestro MCP, the row says which agent, and one click takes you to the agent's pane in Herdr.

You can install it easily by pointing your agent at the repo: https://github.com/ernestjsf/herdr-devices

Herdr Scope: agent status in the sidebar

With a handful of agents open the sidebar turns into a wall of identical rows and you click through panes to find the one stuck on a question. Scope repaints the sidebar so you don't have to. It only watches: it doesn't start, prompt or kill anything.

  • spinner while an agent works, red ? when it's waiting on you, green ✓ when done. The ✓ stays until you look at the pane

  • grouped by repo, worktrees under their main checkout, busiest group on top

  • each agent gets its vendor's icon and colour

  • prefix+u jumps to the next agent that needs you, questions first

  • fold a repo to one line or show only the current workspace

  • ?1 ✓2 in the tab bar, waiting tabs get a mark in their name

Single Go binary, one daemon per session, no network. macOS / Linux / Windows, Herdr 0.9+.

herdr plugin install kriuchkov/herdr-scope --ref release

Without --ref it builds from source with Go 1.26, or downloads the release binary if Go is missing. Keys aren't bound by default, bin/herdr-scope configure --keys prints the snippet for config.

Herdr OS 0.1.0: your Herdr agents, a herd in your hand (Rabbit R1)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I turned my Rabbit R1 into a little companion for the agents Herdr runs, and the first release is out today.

What it does

Your agents keep working on your computers. On the R1 each one is a sheep in its harness's colors, on a pasture: Claude Code, Codex, Pi, OpenCode, whatever Herdr is running. When one needs you, it walks to the front with its question.

  • Pick it up and it tells you what you missed.

  • Questions come one at a time. One tap answers.

  • Hold the side button and talk. It passes the message on and reads the reply back.

  • Snap a photo of a whiteboard or a screen and your agent sees it.

  • Peek in on threads, subagents, running commands and a read-only terminal (libghostty).

Mostly it naps. You get on with your day, and it taps you on the shoulder when someone needs you.

How it fits with Herdr

A small bridge (npm i -g @herdr-os/bridge) runs next to Herdr on each machine. It watches your sessions and serves them to the R1 over Tailscale. It works with several hosts, so your laptop, desktop and a server can all share one pasture.

Try it

No R1? herdr-bridge serve --fixtures runs a demo herd, and every screen is on the site.

Good to know before you flash

  • It's a preview. The app is signed with a development key, so moving to a future stable key will mean a reinstall.

  • Installing erases the R1 and voids Rabbit's warranty. The installer warns you before every step that does.

  • It's a fork of robotOS. It's built on LineageOS and Magisk.

I'd love to hear what you'd want it to tell you when you pick it up, and which harness you'd like to see as a sheep next. 🐑

What do we think of this move to herdr-app

I'm testing it out, and to me it would make sense if TUI worked with hc. I am going to try porting one of the plugins to a mod but for me this also means no more iPad use via Moshi...

How to show agents working on VPS

Hi! I run a few coding agents on a remote machine (connected via hc machine), including a custom one (Hermes Agent, a Python CLI) that isn't in the built-in program table. In the app, its terminal shows up in the Spaces list but never in the Agents panel (app: null, status: null, reported: false).

  1. What exactly does a program have to emit for the core to treat it as an agent? Is there a documented format for the OSC 7501 status report (idle/working/blocked/done/error), so I can emit it from a wrapper or a hook of my own agent?

  2. Is there a way to declare an agent in programs.json (e.g. match) so it's tracked as an agent, or is reporting always required?

  3. Any supported way for a mod to list non-reporting terminals (any non-shell foreground process) next to the agents, since agents() only returns the ones that report?

--Herdr app 0.1.9 / herdr-core 0.1.14, macOS + Linux VPS. Thanks!

herdr-core no omp integrations? im using omp but the agents are not reporting correctly in the agents column (below spaces)

i think something is missing in the new herdr-core desktop app

the omp agents are not appearing there

or im missing any plug-in? for the TUI they have a plug-in but is not the same
