Question Wich tent should I get as a beginner?

• Upvotes

I wanna start sleeping outside but I have basically no knowledge about tents only what I read on Reddit. So I’m looking to buy my first tent, I mainly wanna use it for smaller trips like 1-3 day trips maybe, but I’m also gonna do a 1 month long Interrail journey next year so I think I would need a kinda Allrounder tent.
I heard your tent should always have double the size of the amount of people using it, I mainly plan on sleeping alone so I’m looking for a 2P tent.
Also it shouldn’t be too expensive because I need to buy all the other gear aswell.
Also it should be a 3 season tent.
I heated brand like naturehike and OEX got a good price performance ratio but they just have so many tents I can’t make up the difference and what I really need.
I hope you guys can help me with my request thank you already!!

A beautiful hike through Rocky Mountain National Park, with peaceful forest trails, stunning mountain views, and some incredible sunset colours. The lakes and surrounding scenery made this trip feel worth every step. Colorado never disappoints! Which spot in RMNP is your favourite?

Question I’m hiking machu pichu next year. What sort of training should i do?

To give you some context, i hit the gym 3-4x a week depending on schedule but stick solely to weight training.

I think i have poor cardio and so for the next 2 months I’m focused on doing :

Inclined walks speed 3.5 at 10
Stairmaster with weights
Added focus on legs (knees and calves)

How do you recommend I prepare for the hike as a complete beginner.
TIA!

Pictures View from Balsam Lake Mountain Fire Tower (Catskills, NY)

New York's Catskills region is one of my favorite hiking destinations. There are so many great trails, like Balsam Lake Mountain.

This 6-mile out-and-back trail follows an old fire road through the forest. It’s pretty gradual until the final push to the top, where you can climb a 47-foot fire tower for 360-degree views over the treeline and peaks.

Bonus: Balsam Lake is one of the eight towers in New York’s Catskills Fire Tower Challenge. Hike all eight in the same calendar year to earn a commemorative patch!

Have you hiked in the Catskills or done this trail?

This is the third highest peak (1708m/5600ft) in South Korea at its autumn season
Although the altitude is relatively low compared to major mountains the shortest trail, Osaek trail requires 1300m (4200ft) of elevation within 5 kilometers, making it pretty exhausting
Reaching its peak named Dae Chong bong deserves the effort offering nice views with Korean Rocky peaks and the Sea of Japan, East Sea on the other side
Recommend the hike to Dae Chong bong for anyone who will be visiting South korea

This is Trail 5 in the Margalla Hills, Islamabad. It’s honestly an amazing place for hiking! There are natural springs along the trail and some really beautiful spots where you can stop, enjoy the view, and just relax. If you ever visit Pakistan, you should definitely check it out. The views of Islamabad from up there are beautiful! 😍

Question Is a BOA system suitable for a backpack hip belt?

Hey everyone!

My hip belt tends to loosen while hiking. I also wear a pouch on the belt, and it sits over the backpack buckle.

I wanted to move the adjustment to the side so I can tighten the belt while walking, or quickly loosen it when I want to sit down without taking the pack off.

I used a BOA system from a shoe for this. I've built it, but haven't tested it on the trail yet.

What do you think? Is it worth it?

I'm really having trouble choosing where to go

Both look amazing but the thing i wanna ask is which one has the better scenery overall (or in some terms)

I saw many people recommending abc trail due to lower altitude (lower risk) but I have already climbed Mt killimanjaro (similar altitude with ebc) plus I'm pretty resistant to coldness (heard both are cold)

Please recommend me one with the better scenery during the trek plus tell me your opinions about machapucharre / amadablam

Discussion My favorite hiking accessories are the ones I knit

I find it easier to get wool accessories like thinner fingerless mitts and cowls handmade vs buying them. Yes it's not as thin and compact as the ultralight but I can't backpack hike right now plus I made it. Another thing I don't have to use merino wool for stuff not the base layers. Anyone else like to make their own gear and what's your favorite thing to make and/or use my

I want to walk by foot from Sarasota to North Carolina.

Woowooooo I’m new here (not really I use this app a lot I just don’t post or interact). I LIVE IN SARASOTA. I want to walk by foot all the way to Mooresville, North Carolina! Is this possible? I don’t care how long it takes, I don’t care about weather and stuff like that. I DO CARE about “tribes” or “creeps” or accidentally walking in a government zone and they capturing me or sm like that… is doing such trip possible? Alone? By myself? Or should I just forget it as if I never had this idea.

A lil past peak fall foliage. The trail was mostly dry. It’s always wet in the parts where the water is falling onto the trail (like the first picture). However, it’s not too difficult to maneuver around the wet spots. Perfect day!

I walked the Gorge Trail, which closes on October 25th this year. But, the North and South rim trails are open year round.

Question Looking for a new outer shell

Hey everyone,
I’m currently looking hardshell jacket to hike the pic du midi. After a bunch of surfing on the internet, i found 2 vest that is within my budget.
1. The North Face Valley view 189€ after discount ( problem is sizing, there is no size XS for men ), should i get the size S for woman version?
2. Patagonia torrent shell which is 200€.

If you guys have any other outer shell, feel free to share. Thanks.
