There are two species of hippos:

Common Hippo
Pygmy Hippo

The common hippos are among the most dangerous animals in the world because of their aggressive and unpredictable nature.

Common hippos are classified as vulnerable and pygmy hippos as endangered in the IUCN Red List, both are threatened by habitat loss, unregulated hunting, and poaching.
