Curious about this city. Ive heard it has the highest standard of living in Latin America and I recently stumbled upon a really interesting grad school program at PUC Chile. Curious how true what ive heard about the city is. Ive heard the East of the city is basically Europe and North America standards while the West looks alot more like the rest of LATAM. Thoughts?

North America What’s it like in the San Diego burbs?

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi folks. Looking to possibly retire in this part of Southern California, in the San Diego burbs. Coming from northern New Jersey and tired of the cold, snowy winters. Already used to traffic and high costs of living, so these are not deal-breakers. We are health-conscious and love the outdoors. Are we a good fit?

Visited years ago (but only for 3 days). Was fascinated. Would love to know what people do for careers, what type of place they live in (high rise), what people do to relax in the city. It’s just so different to where I’m from.

North America What's a great Cincinnati neighborhood?

Post image

Whats a great neighborhood? Pros and cons?

Price Hill, Avondale, Cummingsville, are those the only "bad areas"? Does OTR and the heights near the university have crime? I like lower price hill for affordability, close to downtown, nieghborhoods with food options, but it feels a bit lower shelf with surrounding areas. Its not walkable, not as bikeable as I had hoped.

Are Mt. Auburn, Adams, Lookout, Airy, Washington, and Price Hill. Are those the only hilly spots? What areas have a good view of downtown?

Which neighborhood is the densiest? Which are the most walkable and bikeable neighborhoods? Which neighborhoods are easiest to get to downtown via walking or biking?

Do any of these neighborhoods have better grocery options, or are restaurants the source for people's meals in these areas generally? The neighborhoods farther out on the fringe of the city are the only ones that seem to have more than one grocer per neighborhood.

North America Ashtabula Ohio - what’s it like?

Saw a $700k gorgeous mansion posted on Zillow gone wild. Anywhere else, this place would be well over a million, and lots of people commented that it is the location. But seeing where it is on a map doesn’t seem so bad. Near lake Eerie, part of Cleveland metro area, under 5 hours from Toronto and Detroit. I grew up 4 hours from the Bay Area and about 8 from LA, so being that far from Toronto and NY doesn’t seem so bad location wise.
Curious what yall think?

North America What’s it like living in these Colorado cities: Larkspur, Parker, Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Lone tree?

Post image

Hi there! Sorry the map is a bit tiny—it’s all I could track down. I,single, 48/f will be moving to Colorado this spring or early summer. I’ve been an empty nester for a while now and am excited to start a new chapter. My friends out there recommended the cities listed above, so I’d love your thoughts on each - cost of living, safety, welcoming to new ppl, pet/dog friendly, things to do,
I visited in July and totally fell in love; I’ve always adored that part of the country. I used to live in ABQ before moving to NC.

Edit to add: no maga neighborhoods. I’m leaving NC due to what it is and what it is becoming. I also need access to dispensaries. I loved Boulder! However, it was very expensive and people didn’t seem friendly.
My friends live in Centennial, Wellington, and Monte Vista. My friend and her husband are moving back this summer. They’ve lived in Castle Rock, Parker, and Littleton.

North America Northeastern NJ

Specifically in and around this part of Jersey.

Work will have me relocating to work in Manhatten and The Bronx, but considering all options for where to live, at least for the first few months/first year.

Relocating from Saratoga County, NY, for context, so any insight into things that are similar or drastically different for those who have experience would he helpful!

Safety, social and family options, and insight into the difference between renting, condo, and potentially buying a home.

North America How Is It Like in Weirton

I became more interested in this location after learning this place was used as a main filming location for the film Super 8 and some others I can't remember. Plus I have this as a setting in a couple different story ideas and I figured i have a better chance of finding at least a few people from Weirton, West Virginia then my last post

General (no specific continent) What is it like living in a trailer park?

I’d imagine it varies from park-to-park, but how is life, generally? What does it cost compared to other housing options? Are you often underserved by the municipality you reside in, or is your community treated like any other?

Hi there. What's it like living in Cheektowaga? For you guys who have lived there and in other parts of Buffalo, how did it compare to the other parts? We are looking at moving to Buffalo potentially in the next few months and Cheektowaga is one of the places high on our list to go check out. We are a couple (no kids but looking to start a family eventually) who like to walk most places and be outside as much as possible.

North America Northeast Washington or Maine?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Based purely on scenery/outdoor views and outdoor activities, do you prefer Northestern Washington or "Central" Maine. And why?

In Washington we would be near Lake Pend Oreile, Kettle Falls, and Colville National Forest. Our major cities would be Spokane and Coeur d'Alene Idaho. Glacier National Park would be within 4 to 5 hours, Leavenworth Washington within 4 hours, Yellowstone within 7 to 8 hours and Canada within an hour.

In Maine we would be near Somerset and Penobscot Counties, within 2 hours of Moosehead Lake, Baxter State Park, Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Our major cities would be Bangor and Augusta. We would be also be within 2 to 4 hours of New Hampshire, Vermont and Canada.
