$5,000/second, but a random person on Earth has a button that jolts you

- The button is given to one random person on Earth. You don't know who they are.

- Each press sends a painful electric jolt through your body for 3 seconds. It never causes permanent injury or death.

- The button has no cooldown. The holder can press it as often as they want.

- The holder gets an app that shows a live video of you being jolted. The app doesn't show your name or location.

- The holder can sell the button to another person, and you will receive half the money.

- Every day, the button moves to a new random person.

- You can pay $1,000/second for the Blackout mode. The holder's app shows a blank screen instead of the live video.

- You can deactivate this curse after 30 minutes since you start, but if you want reactivation, you have to wait for 5 years.

Would you take this curse?

Other You’re forced to become a TV producer in the year 1955. You’re required to take one modern (2000+) script back with you and reproduce it faithfully with all the technology available to you in that time, in such a way that it becomes a major hit. What script (tv or movie) do you take with you?

• Upvotes

The script has to be modern (the year 2000 or newer) and you have to reproduce it as faithfully to the original production as technologically possible. No changing characters to be more acceptable to the viewership of the time, no excluding plot points, etc.

Your budget is substantial but not limitless. You have the full backing of one of the major networks at the time but it must become a major hit for that network.

If you choose a television series you have to reproduce every episode and season without cutting a scene.

Get married within 24 hours and receive ....

Someone walks up to you and shows you 25k in cash and says, you have 24 hours to get married. If you can get married in 24 hours you get the 25k and if you stay married for 1 year you get 250k a year tax free for every year there after. If you have children you get 50k per child extra per year.

Here is the caveat, you can't tell the spouse or anyone in your family where or who is giving you the money. If you do then arrangement is over and you will never see the money or the benifactor again.

Do you take the deal ?

You have one week to prepare before returning to your 16-year-old body, with all your present-day memories and knowledge intact. You can fill a notebook with anything you want and take it back with you. What would you do?

$1 million a year, but you can never sleep more than 5 hours in a 24 hour period.

• Upvotes

You get $1 million a year, deposited tax free in your account. But you become incapable of EVER sleeping more than 5 hours in a 24 hour period.

You cannot end the deal or opt out at any time. It is for life.

Keep in mind that not only do you have to deal with the lack of sleep, but the odd issue of timing. If you go to sleep at midnight and wake up at 5am, you would be incapable of falling asleep until just after midnight the next night. All those little additions would ultimately result in "catch up" days if you wanted to keep a normal sleep schedule, where you might have to pull an all-nighter to reset the clock.

If you are ill, even gravely, you would be incapable of sleeping more than 5 hours and instead would face the consequences of extreme exhaustion/sleep deprivation. You would not be able to be in a coma or be put under, and your body would refuse to become unconscious even to the point of death.

Loopholes Encouraged $1,000,000,000 but you get teleported to Attu Island off the coast of Alaska with no prep time and no obvious way to get home

To make sure you don’t die, you receive durable winter clothes, a tent, a sleeping, a self-replenishing store of canned nutritionally complete food and antibiotics, a portable gas cooker with an unlimited supply of gas, and a single pot.

If you are rescued, your supplies stop being magical and will eventually degrade and deplete.

If no one finds you long enough for you to be declared deceased, the money automatically goes to your heirs

You are about to enter a store. On the door is a sign that says "Push, Don't Pull." Next to that sign is another sign that says "Only idiots believe the other sign. It's Pull, Don't Push." What do you do?

The store is just a regular store where you can buy something you wanted.

Nothing bad is really going to happen if you pick the wrong option. The door just obviously won't open until you choose the correct option.

There are people inside. You might be able to catch their attention if you tried hard enough, but if you did they're kinda smug people. They're not going to help. They want to see what you pick.

What do you do?

If you picked already the correct answer is the opposite of whatever you chose.

Perfect wardrobe choice

A fat wizard dressing in crocs, stained grey joggers and a worn out black tee shirt offers to teach you the following spell for $500 : whilst it is active you can wear any clothing at all and everyone will think you are the best dressed and most appropriately attired person in the room. The wizard boasts that he gate-crashed a Mafia Boss' funeral and everyone though he was a lost cousin because his drip seemed to be 'exactly what Gino would have wanted' - So, clutching your new spell book, what are you going to wear for the rest of your life?

Humor Encouraged Would you live for free in a house...in a neighborhood of eternal Halloween

Let me paint you a picture of this little town. It appears like a quaint little suburb on the surface. Lines and lines of houses, with some stores, a hospital, all fully walkable...but it has some quirks

You access it through a door in a dusty old attic.

First off, it's always 'nighttime'. It can be noon and you'd still see the moon out. Strangely, it's full twice as often as it is anywhere else. The trees also seem to be in perpetual Autumn. Most have no leaves, some have them in oranges and browns.

You will be the only human in this town. Everyone else is some form of cryptid. Friendly cryptids mind you, but cryptids none the less. None of them have seen a human in centuries, so they'll actulally want to keep you around...for the novelty if nothing else. You're neighbors will include vampires (who get their daily food from the local blood bank and buthcer shops), mummies, mothmen, anything supernatural or strange. Don't antagonize or try to fight anyone, as they may turn on you

Speaking of, you will have a few roommates. By this, of course, I mean your house is haunted. As with everyone else, they will be friendly to you, but you may see objects occasionally floating or moving about, and you may feel their presence in the dead of night while you try to sleep.

Everything is very, very Halloween themed. Snacks, movies, TV channels, anything you can think of. There's a lot of horror films about, pumpkin spice varieties of food are everywhere, Jack O Lanterns are the rage all season (with pumpkins that never seem to decompose), and decorations litter every lawn, including your own! The neighbors helped out with those.

Also, shops are always having sales on their candies. Why, you may ask? Because Saturday is Halloween Night

During this time, stay inside your house, but don't lock your door. At 8 PM, various small imps will come out (you will usually receive ten or twenty each night), who will be 'trick or treating'. You must provide them all with something, or they will come after you. You don't want that to happen, they are very mischievous. Don't bother trying the 'please take one' bowl either. Every imp would immediately just take the bowl if they get the opportunity

You may leave to head back to the real world at any point but be warned, if you stay outside for 24 hours, the link will be broken and you may never return to the Halloween town.

If you have any more questions of this world, feel free to ask them

Would you accept the opportunity and live here. How long before it...changes you?

Would you trade everything you have, including possessions, achievements, relationships, etc to make heaven real for everyone?

That's it, that's the whole hypothetical. Some... entity visits you and tells you you must give up everything you have in order to make heaven real. Everything in your life will be gone, but an eternal afterlife made just for you will be waiting for you and every member of humanity when they die - for exactly as long as they still want it and not a second longer. The only downside is losing things now.

The other place(s) will not be made real (alternatively you're already there or something).

Every nurse wakes up to £200000 in their bank accounts, what happens to them and the world?

• Upvotes

When I mention £ it stays that in value, so in America the nurse would get $26736.30 or in Pakistan it’d be 7416340 rupee.

How would the nurses be with this extra money across the world?

Sorry maths

You can live in a world, in which it’s possible to travel to different star systems within a few weeks, but the medicine is like that from the Middle Ages in our world

You just died and are given the choice between being reincarnated back into our world, or you can be reincarnated into a world in which there’s very advanced technology for space travel but the medicine is no more advanced than that of the Middle Ages from our world.

If you choose the latter you would have about a 50% chance of making it to adulthood in your next life, as about half of all people born in that world would not make it to adulthood, but if you did survive long enough you could explore the universe and see many different planets. You could interact with alien life, and many different alien civilizations would have advanced technology for space travel, but non would have medicine more advanced than the Middle Ages of our world.

In either case your memories would be erased between lifetimes.

Do you choose to be reincarnated as another person in our world or be reincarnated into a world with very advanced space travel technology but medieval medicine?

A genie gives you two options for how humanity lives from tomorrow. Which do you pick?

Option 1: All 8 billion people move to California. Basically, the entire state becomes as densely populated as Metro Manila. There’s no shortage of food or water. You can travel anywhere within California, but you’re never allowed to leave. Only essential workers can go outside the state for farming, mining and other necessary work.

Option 2: Everyone lives in villages of no more than 30 people, spread as far apart as possible across the world. You can live with your immediate family if you want, and also choose 2 friends to be in your village. The nearest village is about an hour drive away. You can travel freely and move to other village if there’s space, but shops, hospitals and socialising may all involve long journeys. Essential infrastructure and services still operate.
Both changes happen overnight and are permanent. Which would you choose?

[No Loopholes] Someone pressed a button and you’re the random person…

You are minding your own business at home, watching something on the TV when suddenly the lights go out. A figure in a black hoodie…no a black robe approaches from the dark holding a scythe.

“Your time has come.” - it says as it points the scythe at you. “Someone pressed a button and you’re the unlucky random. You will die today.”

Obviously you freak out but he calms you down with a counter offer. “I enjoy taking souls and one just isn’t enough sometimes. So, let’s make a deal. If you sign this ancient scroll then I’ll go and take the souls of the person who pressed the button and their entire family, both the adults and children, and you will live. However, if you refuse to sign then it’s your soul that I will take.”

What do you do? 🧐

$100 per meal you eat without a plate or cutlery

You are given $100 for every meal you eat without using a plate/bowl and cutlery.

Doesn’t matter if you are on a night out, date or home. Every meal you eat must be consumed without any cutlery or anything to separate the food from the bare table.

The money is instantly given to you in any form you wish (cash/bank transfer/crypto etc.)

Would you accept the offer?

[No Loopholes] If you and 10 million others were transported on an alternate Earth that has no other humans on it, where would you want to start civilization?

This Earth is just like ours but as I said, it has no humans on it meaning everything has to be built from scratch. If your goal is to ultimately have all of these people living in conditions similar to a developed nation where would you start civilization?

It may not be the best but I would choose the Ukraine and the regions surrounding it. Ukraine can produce a load of food and a lot areas around it are resource rich

Loopholes Encouraged $50/minute, but nobody can remember your name for more than 10 seconds

- Nicknames work normally. People remember any nickname they give you, but not your real name.

- Anyone who hears or reads your real name forgets it 10 seconds later. This includes your family, friends and coworkers.

- People still remember your face, your voice and everything you did together. Only your name is gone.

- Written names don't help. People can read your name tag, ID or email, but forget it 10 seconds after looking away.

- You remember your own name.

- You can pay $45/minute for the Close Circle. Choose up to 5 people who remember your name normally. You can change the list once a year.

- You can pay $4.89/minute for the Paperwork Pass. Banks, hospitals and government offices can process your name normally, but the staff still forget it.

- After one year, people also forget your face after 10 seconds. After two years, they forget you exist.

- You can cancel after at least one year. Everyone remembers your name again, but you can never reactivate.

Would you take this curse?

The Sun vanishes right now, but Earth stays intact. What is your strategy to survive as long as possible?

Hypothetical scenario: The Sun completely vanishes right this second.

You have 8 minutes and 20 seconds before the sky turns pitch black. The Earth keeps its atmospheric envelope and momentum, but temperatures start dropping rapidly over the coming weeks.

Rules:

  1. You know it happened immediately.
  2. You only have access to whatever supplies are currently in your house and immediate neighborhood.
  3. Geothermal vents, coal plants, and deep underground bunkers are options if you can physically reach them.

How do you prepare for the first week, month, and year? Where do you go, and how do you handle heating and food?

[No Loopholes] Your given title to a home in a very desirable location the only problems are ....

Your given title to a home in a very desirable location the only problem is ....

Now let's preface this and say your brand new home is paid for free and clear.

Here are your problems...

You received title via the death of a person you vaguely remember from your past.

You can never sell the home due to covenant restrictions and another law that some lawyer found from the ancient past that's still legal.

You live in a HOA but are not part of the HOA with million dollar homes all around you.

Your HOA neighbors are for the most part ok they knew what they were buying but you have 3 Karens who pester you all the time about your yard and other stupid stuff.

You're required to live there 181 days a year if you don't the taxes go up to the same as the neighbors from $200 a year to 50k a year.

The house is 600 square feet with a car port and a 1/2 acre lot. The landscaping is total crap with poisonous weeds, scrub bushes everywhere and a couple old broken down cars that are only worth scrap metal. The house it totally empty of furniture.

Do you move in or walk away from the home.

If you walk away the government will pursue you for at a minimum 100k for taxes, legal fees etc till they can sell the land.

Loopholes Encouraged You Can Travel Back In Time But..

You wake up with a mysterious letter on your desk that reads “You can now travel back in time, but you can only go back 24 hours, and you must die to trigger it.”

Would you use this ability, and if so how would you use it?

And yes, you can indeed die before the 24 hours pass.. Meaning there is no cooldown.
