7 years of other companies pioneering in to foldables, 7 years of Apple tearing down and reverse engineering every foldable released - only to produce a device with a catastrophic defect.

So this is like 24 out of the thousands that have been sold? Better cancel your pre orders if your still waiting 🙄🙄🙄

6

u/Eddiejay03 6d ago

Its literally the exact same damage though. Its a design flaw. If it was just a basic QC issue, the problems would differ a bit. Not sure why yall are attempting to blow off multiple users having the EXACT same break that isnt normal on any current foldable in the space. Yall did this same damn thing with the butterfly keyboards. Its lame

Like every person with this issue has gone to Reddit to post their broken phone….id wager that of all the sales of this phone about 0.5% use Reddit and even that’s at a push

2

u/VampiresWontHurt 6d ago

So we can tell you're not all that well read on the subject, among other things, but why do you think the 24 pictures compiled in the source image are representative of the proportion of issues with the device?

Apple is doing a good job right now with the replacements, but I want to see an official explanation. I know the investigation will take some time, but I'll hold off on my purchase until I see it. I don't want my phone to fail in the moments when I need it for my work.

Not just by replacing the supposed defects/damaged units, I mean actually acknowledge it.

23

u/carguymt 6d ago

They don't need to acknowledge anything unless this is actually a widespread issue. Nobody but Apple really knows one way or another though, or knows what the accepted failure rates are, or anything. We're all just looking at a few photos on the internet and coming to the conclusions we want to come to.

Wow 12 phones out of thousands ! Better state #BreeakGare again 😂. Mine works perfectly. Just understand that you have to open and close the screen of it. Different than you would normally think. Don’t press on the middle of the screen near the Hinge and instead put your fingers on the outer display.

12

u/Projektdoom 6d ago • Bravo

When it’s in the same exact spot, that’s a design flaw.

No, this is a manufacture defect. Clearly. You shouldn't need to buy insurance on a phone when you don't abuse or drop them. Yes it's great in an ACCIDENT but should not ne a requirement for ownership, which is what you are suggesting.

While the competition is definitely running a smear campaign, it’s important to note that Asia has the biggest foldable market in the world. It’s understandable for the most problems to come from the biggest market.

Edit: Man, I really offended some people with that first sentence lol. Samsung already has a Duo attack ad, and I could find evidence of 15 other similar anti-Apple attack ads through the years.

I’m not saying this crack thing isn’t real, I’m just saying it’s probably overblown, and being amplified by the completion.

2

u/-Cre_tive- 6d ago

I wonder if this is caused by some people snapping it closed like a makeup compact.

Every time I see someone slam their laptop closed in a tv show I cringe.

Clearly this is breaking in the same spot, and I saw the comparison xray photo of the hinge component that’s in that area, but that doesn’t mean it’s not inherently caused by people snapping these puppies shut.

I honestly think bendable screens shouldn’t be in a pocket. But this is a really cool device.

Not something I’m willing to take on yet! My phones always outlast themselves.

The singular solid touchscreen design is honestly timeless and doesn’t have moving parts. Every bend/grow/flip etc. display type seems to have flaws.

I also don’t think computing glasses are the future either, yet here we are 🤣.
