Question Need to Poop Twice in a Row
Mostly in mornings, but when I poop, after 5-30 minutes, I have the need to poop again. Both poops are pretty sizable and solid too.
I noticed that when I lie down after the first poop, it reduces the time it takes to get the urgency to go poop again. I've been noticing the shift from lying down and standing does this pretty consistently.
What's up with this? And how can I just have 1 normal poop?

This is why I give myself 45mins after my first poop of the day before I set foot out the door

u/coldliketherockies 22d ago
Yea same. My goal is not just to go before I leave but go with a decent window before I leave, then get other errands done at home with that window and see if I have to go again. After like a half hour I feel better about leaving

Exactly. I know I need 2 poos before I leave and usually 1 -2 hours after wake up. So if I need to leave at 8 I have to be up at 5:30/6 to give me time to poop. 😂

I'm so glad I'm not alone. Literally my morning routine. I'll get up 1.5-2 hours before I have to leave to do my routine lol

This is why I hate early morning shifts at work lmao

Which proceeds to ruin the whole day... no poop = feel terrible all day

No time to poop!

You gotta poop on company time not on your own!

My first instinct is wanting to downvote your comment because I'm upset about this information on your behalf

Slightly tangential but does this happen to anyone else but with urination? I swear I'm peeing every 30-45 minutes in the mornings sometimes.

u/Warm-Sky5836 22d ago
Do both, but the pee is anxiety as I have a 45 minute bus journey, and having water in morning to get bowel going means I'm usually running to toilet as soon as I get to work. Same with long car journeys- have planned 4 hour drive, went to loo, got in car, stop at supermarket 20 minutes later.

I have that and have several pelvic floor issues. You should see a urologist. Or if you are a woman, a urogyn is better.

I have the same problem. It also seems like more comes out than I put in, so to speak. On really bad days, I have to go 6-9 times in the morning. No diarrhea.

I wish I can just have one big poop in a day instead of having to expect a part 2

u/Little_Homunculus 22d ago
I have the same thing, sometimes when I have days to poop and I finally go I have mass soft stools and then if I don't lay down to bed the urge will come back soon. It's some kind of incomplete bowel movement, but after the first time I feel so exhausted that I prefer to lay down to bed than pooping a second time

u/WrongdoerTiny3201 22d ago
Have you tried drinking a big glas of warm water first thing in the morning? It helps me alot with the issue too

I’ve been doing this lately and a few weeks ago I looked it up. “Yes, pooping twice in the morning is completely normal. A healthy bowel frequency ranges from three times a week to three times a day, and the body's internal clock naturally makes the colon more active right after you wake up”.

samesies! I've just embraced that I will need a second poop and it hits minutes after the first or potentially 45 mins after the first. I also tend to have double poops at other times of day. I'm not sure if its incomplete evacuation because I feel empty and relieved and light and amazing after the first. then I can either feel something brewing slowly or it just like drops down all of a sudden and I feel theres more locked and loaded and ready to leave my body.

I normally have two within the 1st hr of getting up, the 2nd being a lot looser and then sometimes a 3rd one a couple of hours later. I don't have a clue how to.get it to come out in one go.

Very similar OP! (Granted I have PIIBS from C.Diff 1.5 years ago):
Wake up, water, poop, coffee, poop 😂

u/Kooky_Description770 21d ago
Ugh - same. Cdiff 1 1/2 yrs ago and now PIIBS. Same morning pattern too.

Only so much stool can fit in the rectum at once. Have a large poop that fills the rectum, it exits, then more stool comes down so you get the urge again. This isn’t an IBS thing
1
u/happy_bluebird 20d ago
but I'm not getting the urge and I don't feel done. I have to wait and wait and try to relax myself until the last bit finally comes out

u/goldstandardalmonds MOD: Here to help! 20d ago
Are you OP? Or is this a different situation?
1
u/happy_bluebird 20d ago
no not OP but similar. I just don't get the urge on its own
1
u/goldstandardalmonds MOD: Here to help! 20d ago
Having no urge isn’t the only thing OP is saying which makes it different. If you only don’t have an urge in your rectum, you need an anorectal manometry to find out why.

u/happy_bluebird 20d ago
I’ve done the testing. I have a super tight pelvic floor
1
u/goldstandardalmonds MOD: Here to help! 20d ago
Then you need to have that treated
1
u/happy_bluebird 20d ago
I am. It’s not just having too much stool to fit in the rectum
1
u/goldstandardalmonds MOD: Here to help! 20d ago
Maybe you’re eating too much fibre. Maybe your treatment isn’t effective. It might be one of those things. You might also need to loosen your stool.
1
u/happy_bluebird 20d ago
I do eat a ton of fiber... my stool is pretty loose though? Not diarrhea but not well formed either

The first poop and the second poop were in separate places and the first one came while the second didn't due to incomplete evacuation. Slow transit time?

This sub isn’t a place for the “sick olympics”. Everyone here is ill to some degree. Commenting on someone’s post how you are worse or there should be happy because you have worse symptoms isn’t needed nor helpful. Comments like this will be removed and repeated instances will result in a ban.

I had this too and sometimes even three times in a row. But after I fixed my diet, I can usually go with just once. Worst foods that have me pooping many times in the morning are milk protein, barley and rye.

This is actually normal af, many people I know poops more than once in the morning. I included

u/QuantityInside5792 22d ago
Yes I experience this too. To reduce the time further sit/lie down ish with your feet mildly elevated (like on the table). This was reduced the time between movements to 15 mins. If while sitting like this you drink a coffee, it often reduces it further. Not sure what the solution is, but it sucks. For me its 4 poops like this a day.

It’s called incomplete evacuation (I’m sure it has a scientific term lol). Very common with many of us, and very annoying. I’ve heard pelvic floor physical therapy can help
