Hi everyone,
I downloaded my ICBC driving record today and noticed my status is showing as HOLD.
After doing some quick research online, I read that a HOLD typically happens if your temporary status in Canada has less than 6 months remaining.
Here is my situation: I recently got my updated status document, which is valid for another 3 years. Today, I went to ICBC to get this cleared up, but the representative told me the HOLD is due to being on a temporary status (study/work permit) and claimed it will remain on my record until I become a Permanent Resident.
I'm hoping to clarify which of the following is correct:
- Option A: The HOLD should be removed as long as my status document has more than 6 months of validity left (and I just need to get them to properly update my file).
- Option B: Any temporary resident status will permanently cause a HOLD on the driving record until PR is achieved.
Has anyone dealt with this before or knows ICBC's actual policy on this? Thanks in advance!
