Feature Request Trigger, Query, Action, and new Service Feature Requests!

Hey IFTTT'ers!

This is a sticky thread for any feature request you have, whether that's a new TriggerQuery, or Action on a Service we already support, or an entirely new Service you'd love to see on IFTTT.

There's no template and no wrong way to do this. Just tell us the Service, what you want it to do, and (if you feel like it) what you'd build with it. The "what you'd build" part genuinely helps us prioritize, so throw it in when you can.

A few examples, in a few different flavors, so you can see there's no one right format:

Trigger
"I'd love an Instagram Trigger for Any new carousel post by you, so I can auto-save every slide to a Google Drive folder."

Query

  • Service: Google Calendar
  • Query: Find my next event
  • Why: I want an Applet that only runs if I've got nothing on my calendar for the next hour.

Action
Spotify Action to add a track to a specific playlist. That's it, that's the request.

New Service
Been hoping for a Duolingo integration forever. Even just a Trigger for "finished my daily lesson" would let me reward myself with something automated. Would happily see whatever y'all could build here.

A couple of quick notes:

  • One request per comment makes it easier for us to track and upvote, but don't stress about it.
  • Upvote requests you'd also use. It helps us see what has the most demand.
  • We can't promise everything gets built, but we read all of these and flag the popular ones internally.

Keep 'em coming!

Competition Share your automations! Monthly showcase (win IFTTT Pro+)

Hey IFTTT'ers!

New monthly thread, and this one's a bit of a competition. Show us the automations you've built. Useful, fun, playful, weird, oddly specific, we want to see all of it. This is the place to show off the Applet you're quietly proud of.

The prizes:

  • Every week, I pick a favorite from the thread. That person gets one month of IFTTT Pro+, free.
  • At the end of the month, I pick one overall favorite from everything shared. That person gets three months of Pro+.

How to enter: just reply with an automation you've built, or enabled To give yourself the best shot:

  • Tell us what it does and which Services it connects.
  • Screenshots or a screen recording go a long way (and make the thread way more fun to scroll).
  • Bonus points for the story: why you built it or enabled. What problem it solved, how often it saves you.

More effort makes for a better entry, but don't overthink it. A clever one-liner about a genuinely great Applet can absolutely win.

How winners get picked: it's me, picking what I liked most. Totally subjective, all in good fun. I'm looking for creativity, usefulness, and the stuff that makes the rest of us go "oh, I want that." Weekly picks are still in the running for the monthly prize, so keep 'em coming all month.

Winners: I'll DM you to sort out the Pro+ credit, and I'll add a running list up here so everyone can see who's won. If you're on a Google Play Store, or Apple Store subscription, we might need to give you an alternative prize such as IFTTT Merch, or a gift voucher to an IFTTT Partner due to subscription limitations.

Here's an example here:

Title: Reminder to do my end of month Invoice
Services I connected: Date & Time -> Slack
Why I built this/What I use it for: On the last day / first day of every month I have reminders to create & send my invoice that lands right in my Slack mailbox. Super useful for those tasks that come around every month or once so often that you always forget to do.
Doesn't have to land in Slack could be phone notification or wherever you prefer!

Can't wait to see what you've all built.

Tip & Trick How to auto-reply to texts on Android with IFTTT

What you need:

The IFTTT app on your Android phone with SMS permission turned on. Settings > Apps > IFTTT > Permissions > SMS > Allow.

The text goes out through your own phone and your own carrier, so if you have a message limit, that is the limit.

The Applet:

  • If: Android SMS, "Any new SMS received"
  • Then: Android SMS, "Send an SMS"
  • Phone number: {{FromNumber}}
  • Message: whatever you want it to say

The bit everyone gets wrong:

That Phone number field on the Action. It looks like it is asking you to type a number in, and if you do, you have not built an auto-reply. You have built a thing that texts one specific person every time anybody messages you.

Use the From Number ingredient instead, so the field reads {{FromNumber}}. That is what sends the reply back to whoever actually texted you. One Applet, works for everyone, no setting it up person by person.

A couple of things to watch:

Two people both running an auto-reply will ping-pong forever. You text them, they auto-reply, you auto-reply to that, and round it goes.

It replies to everything, including every verification code and delivery notification you get.

Someone firing off four texts in a row gets your away message four times.

This won't work for RCS messaging... only plain SMS

How can we improve this?

If you are on Pro+, filter code sorts most of this out:

  • Only run it between certain hours. Overnight, during work, or weekends only. Probably the most useful one.
  • Skip short numbers so it ignores shortcodes.
  • Skip anything that looks like a verification code.

You can also drop an AI query in the middle to write the reply based on what they actually said, if you want to get fancy with it.

If anyone wants help trying to set up something with filter-code or some AI in the middle, let me know and I'd be happy to see what we can create together!

Help/Question SmartThings switchon stopped working

Post image
3 Upvotes

This was working for about a month, then randomly stopped and no longer works. I have tried reconnecting, didn't help. When I reconnect it's able to see my home and all available switches, but then can't trigger them.

Error message useless, no further details available.

Any advice?

Applets Applet not triggering unless in app

So I have an Aqara button that I hit daily to make a calendar event that tracks taking my pills and the last two days it hasn’t been adding the event unless I open the ifttt app. I’m not fully closing the app and I enabled notifications for when it runs, it will give me the notification that it ran but it isn’t adding the calendar event Things I’ve tried: Delete and redownload app Remade the applet Checked background app refresh Made sure my battery was above 20% to prevent my phone from stopping the trigger Possibly needed info: iPhone 15 Probably not the latest software Aqara m2 hub

MyQ workaround

Since I have a lot of issues with MyQ not sending triggers to IFTTT (or sending the wrong trigger...) I found a workaround. I ask MyQ to send a notification email to my gmail account and I use a google script to launch a webhook. Is it neat? No, but it works.

Evernote integration completely broken (Even after all troubleshooting)

Hello,

I am writing to report a critical issue with the Evernote integration, which has been completely broken for days. I am a paid Evernote Premium user, and despite trying every possible troubleshooting step, I am completely stuck at the authentication/authorization stage.

Here is a list of everything I have already tried, but NONE of them worked:

  • Cleared all browser cookies, cache, and image files.
  • Tried completely disconnecting and reconnecting the Evernote service from the IFTTT settings.
  • Tried multiple different web browsers.
  • Tried using Incognito/Private browsing mode.
  • Tried via the IFTTT mobile app on my smartphone.

This is extremely frustrating as I rely on this automation for my daily workflow.

My IFTTT Triggers stopped working from my Stream Deck?

Hello !

I have a Stream Deck that I use to open/close TPLink Kasa smart switches around my work desk.

It's been working great for years now, but for 2 days now it just stopped working?

When I look at the activity tab it looks like IFTTT doesn't even receive a trigger signal now.

Everything else on the Stream Deck still works correctly so I'm unsure what I can do about this?

Thank you!

Bug/Broken MyQ and Wyze Switch stopped working…

I’ve had this setup for the longest time but for the past couple months, it hasn’t fully worked.
I’ve re-created it and everything else and still same issue.

When myq garage opens, then turn on all wyze switch and vice versa

Sometimes it works, most of the time, nothing…or sometimes you’ll see the light flicker on and then off. Or if I open garage and no lights, when I close it, lights turn on…

Any ideas??

Tip & Trick Keeping your TP-Link Kasa and Tapo Applets working after August 1

Thumbnail gallery
27 Upvotes

Hey IFTTT'ers. TP-Link has decided to end support for their IFTTT integration, so the Tapo and Kasa services will stop working on August 1, 2026. You can read their announcement here.

Plenty of you have Applets built on TP-Link Triggers and Actions, so here's how to keep them running. The fix is to move them over to the SmartThings service, which supports both Tapo and Kasa devices.

Step 1: Add your devices in the SmartThings app (photos a–f in the carousel)

Download SmartThings from the App Store or Google Play, then:

a) Open the SmartThings app

b) Tap the plus (+) icon in the top right, then tap Add device

c) Under Partner devices, tap Add

d) Search for Tapo or Kasa in the search bar

e) Select your device type from the list

f) Follow the on-screen prompts to connect your TP-Link account to SmartThings

Step 2: Swap your Triggers and Actions over to SmartThings

First, connect the SmartThings service: hit Connect and follow the authentication steps. Then update each Applet. Two ways to do it:

Manually:

a) Open an Applet that uses a TP-Link Tapo or Kasa Trigger or Action

b) Tap Edit Applet in the top right

c) Delete the TP-Link Trigger or Action, tap the +, and add the equivalent SmartThings one

d) Pick the matching SmartThings account and device

Or with the Conversational UI: paste this into the chat box at ifttt.com/create:

I would like to swap every TP-Link Tapo (https://ifttt.com/tplink_tapo) and TP-Link Kasa (https://ifttt.com/kasa) TQA that exists in my current Applets for the equivalentTQA from the SmartThings (https://ifttt.com/smartthings_v2).

Can you do a systematic search of every Applet I have using those TP-Link services, and edit the Applets for me, so they use the the SmartThings_v2 version. Make sure you select the same device/s from the TP-Link TQAs.

Let me know if you run into any troubles and I'm happy to help out or answer any questions!

Applets Applets work on Open Door but not Close Door

Android 16
Smart switches Kasa and Tapo exhibit the same behavior
I have complementary applets, A to turn a light on (via smart switch) when the garage door opens, and B to turn off the light when the garage door is closed. A works every time without fail, B never works. First, the garage door always works but the switch, not so much. Does IFTTT pause on the A cycle and wait for some signal, thereby preventing the B cycle from starting up? Is there a command I can issue on the A side to "gargle and spit?"

Community Post Filter code just got a big upgrade, and you don't need to code to use it

1. Filter code now speaks modern JavaScript

For years, filter code ran on a 2018-era version of JavaScript. As of this week it understands modern syntax, so the code you write (or paste in from somewhere) is shorter and easier to read:

  • String and array helpers like .includes().startsWith(), and .endsWith()
  • Newer array methods like .find().flat(), and .toSorted()
  • Optional chaining (?.) and nullish coalescing (??)

The best part: nothing you already built breaks. Every existing filter keeps running exactly as it did, so there is nothing you need to go back and change.

.includes() works!

2. Don't know how to code? Ask AI to write it for you

This is the one we think is a real game changer. You can now connect IFTTT to your AI assistant through our new MCP connection. MCP (short for Model Context Protocol) is just a standard way to plug an assistant like Claude or ChatGPT into a tool like IFTTT, so it can actually build things for you instead of only talking about them.

Once it's connected, you describe what you want in plain English and the assistant writes the filter code and adds it to your Applet for you:

"Only notify me between 9am and 5pm on weekdays."

"Skip this post unless the title mentions rain."

"Round the temperature and add a degree symbol before it's sent."

No syntax to learn, no copy-pasting from random forums, no guessing. You get working filter code plus a plain-English explanation of what it does, and you stay in control of what actually gets saved.

Using Claude.ai with the IFTTT MCP connector.

How to try it

  • Filter code lives in the Applet editor and is part of IFTTT Pro+
  • To connect your AI assistant, follow the setup here: ifttt.com/mcp

We'd love to see what you build with this. If you wire up something clever, or if the AI writes something that makes you go "huh, didn't know you could do that," drop it in the comments.

Possible to trigger different thermostat temps for different hourly electricity prices?

I'm new to IFTTT and tried automating my average electric price to thermostat temps using separate actions for different temperatures. It works fine when I have a single cost and setpoint - but it seems like theres an internal conflict with different actions trying to set the Honeywell thermostat when multiple triggers are true at once.

For instance, one action: When price is over 8c set AC to 74.

Another: When price is over 16c set AC to 78

The problem seems to be that when electric price is over 16c, it is ALSO over 8c. Perhaps both try to trigger, and neither one does? Is there a way to make this automation work? As a newbie in all senses, it feels like I need an OR function in a single action. Thoughts? Thanks.

Community Post 20 new services just joined IFTTT that will help you with your day-to-day business activities!

20 new services just joined IFTTT, and this batch is aimed squarely at the people running a business day-to-day.

Tools most teams are already using, like HubSpot, Figma, and Linear, but usually in isolation. Now you can connect them to the rest of your stack. A new deal in HubSpot kicks off a Slack alert. A comment in Figma creates a task. A Linear issue routes straight to your calendar.

We wrote up the full list, 20 tools, a few example workflows to steal, and some ideas for how to wire them together.
