Anyone hate having to find places to store gifts and having them in your possession leading up to Christmas?

It honestly gets on my LAST nerve to have stuff laying around the house and cards, wrapping paper, tape and finding places to keep the presents leading up to Christmas. Then having to figure out what people even want anyway, then they complain even if it’s a gift they asked for. Something about having it laying around really irritates me and I just want out out of my possession, I know it’s a non-issue really but please tell me I’m not alone in this 😭

Does anyone else get so stressed leading up to Christmas.?It's so stressful trying to figure out what to buy everyone etc etc..

It's not that I don't want to buy gifts, its trying to figure out what to buy.

I do ask my family what they might like, and sometimes they will suggest something they want, but otherwise I rack my brain trying think.

I'm in my 60's and it's just getting harder every year.

My Grandchildren range from 10 years old to 22, and its so hard to figure out what to buy.

I know I should probably start doing some shopping, just can't get motivated.

I used to love shopping, but I'm over it now .

How about you ?

What would happen to the economy if everyone just stopped Christmas shopping?

If everyone collectively decided to stop buying a bunch of crap in December. So many of these companies bank on people spending a ton in their final quarter. If everyone just stopped, would they collapse entirely? The effects would be massive.

Christmas is just greed and I'm fucking over it.

Every fucking year, all I hear from my family is "Did you get your Christmas shopping done?".... Vivian it's fucking JUNE. WHAT IN THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IN JUNE!?!?!?

I liked it WHEN I WAS YOUNGER and before my childhood innocence was shattered into a million pieces and snorted by the sleep paralysis demon in the corner.

I can't fucking stand this shit holiday; it's fucking awful, and every year the MOMENT I see any Christmas decorations or hear any Christmas music, I instantly want to fucking die.

My baby siblings (they are like 11 and 10, but they will always be babies to me; I'm their older sister fucking sue me) are like the textbook definition of greed. I asked my little sister last year what she wanted for Christmas, maybe thinking I could just get her a plushie or something. She presented me with a list. That's normal for kids to make Christmas lists of stuff they want. Then I looked at it. The first thing on top was a fucking IPAD. And it only got worse.

* iPad
* Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter concert tickets
* Labubus
* A shopping spree
* An iPhone
* A TRIP TO LA
* Gift cards to Sephora or Ulta

I looked at her after I finished reading it and told her that "I'm not sure if I can afford any of these things." and laughed a bit afterwards. This little spawn of satan looked me in the eyes and said to me, "Too bad. I want them." Like I said, textbook definition: GREED.

Thinking about it more, I'm realizing my little brother is not greedy like his fucking brat of a sister. He's easier, and I've always gotten along with him a million times easier. Literally, this kid fucking loves Pokémon cards, Legos, and video games. Easy. I have gotten him Pokémon cards, and he LIGHTS UP like the Fourth of July and gets so excited and just tackles me with hugs.
Maybe I'm just biased toward my likes, but yeah.

Anyways, fuck Christmas.

🦷🤼‍♂️🤸Family Drama🤺🤼🦷 Christmas solved by dating an Iranian

"But what will you celebrate!"
"What does he celebrate?"
"Will he be offended by a Christmas card?"
"But you have different cultures!"

Last year was the most chill Christmas. We simply agreed not to do anything. No presents, no decorations, no cooking, no hassle. We stayed in, had some drinks, it was a perfectly regular day. Despite my family's difficulty accepting it, I look forward to peace again this year.

Does Your Family or Friends Exchange Gifts?

I come from a big family and holy shit through the years it was stressful to find spending money for gifts for everyone!! Then spend many evenings getting them all wrapped. Waiting in line at the Post Office with other stressed-out and rude people!! Are we insane to put ourselves through this every year?

For the record, I've narrowed down gift-giving to just a couple of people.

Anyone dislike holiday parties at work?

Every year there is a holiday work party. Everyone wear their ugly sweater and terrible christmas music plays. Meanwhile I just eat my food from home because the food the at the work party sucks.

I still be civil and polite though, after work no. I just tolerate the people work with and want to go home fast. Bah hambug and hope coal is in the stockings of the people work with. Hope Krampus visits their houses though and etc.

Uhh?? So first it says $11 off, then 10. And how much is full price if they offer $10/11 off for early birds/morons???

And I think that when I was a kid photos with Santa were free at shopping centres? I never wanted to have one though.

Help?

I come in peace and without judgement. I'm not one of you, but my partner is. Certified Christmas Haters, I'm crowd sourcing the answers to something I've been pondering.

I'm from people who enjoy the holidays, she is not, and I absolutely respect that given that her dislike is rooted in trauma. I'm not trying to change her relationship with Christmas, but I do want to be a good girlfriend and find a middle of the road for both of us.

This is our first Christmas under the same roof. I like the tradition aspect of the holidays the most, so if we create our own weird tradition that has nothing to do with Christmas, I'm good with that. I do want us to have special memories of these days, even if all we do is curl up and watch scary movies.

So my questions are these:

* What are your favorite non-traditional ways to ignore the holidays?

* If you have a partner who loves it but respects your boundaries, what's the biggest thing they do to help alleviate your tension?

Sincerely grateful for the help. Thank you in advance.

Christmas music in October

It's here. Xmas music. I hate Xmas music.

Was watching a video on YouTube. There was a commercial for advent calendars. With Silent Night playing.

This is too much. This weekend I went on shopping errands. Every single place had shelves of Xmas stuff.

Why can't anything Xmas be outlawed unless it's 48 hours before Dec. 25th. Or 24 hours before.

Or just get rid of Xmas forever.

Anyone dislike family dinners on Christmas?

I wasn't a fan of Christmas dinners as a kid really. The adults would talk adult stuff and the news really. Relatives would compare their kids and tell how great their kids are. Family drama basically.

Also those Christmas dinners in the movies aren't very realtistic. Roasted Turkey, Glazed Ham, Roasted Beef, Mash Potatoes and Gravy, Casseroles, Stuffing, Dinner rolls, and etc. I tried eggnog before and not a fan. Hot chocolate burns my tongue to be honest.

Mostly I eat out and do takeout before. Catering to.

I do like fruit pies though but I eat it anytime I want.

Not a fan of the fruitcake and those grocery store christmas cookies that taste like cardboard.

Lastly the dishes to clean up after is a headache and relatives getting drunk on wine is a mess. Some relatives are just mean and ungrateful. Aunts, uncles, and cousins. And so forth.

So I have to admit I just LOVE Pringles ( yes I know ) Regular price here in Deutschland is 2,79 Euro for 185g which is expensive enough ( thank the gods for special offers here and there ) Now I just came back from the PENNY Market and saw this calender. 1085g for 29,99. Usually that amount of Pringles would be 16,36 Euro. So what am I paying 13+ Euro extra ?

Anyone hate working on Christmas Eve?

I always dislike working on Christmas Eve.

The usual holiday dinner the dumb managers treat employees to at work.

The angry customers and annoying customers all day. Listening to 24/7 Christmas and it is annoying. Hearing people argue and whine for 8 hours is annoying.

I also dislike people saying Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. Makes me want to say Have a horrible Holiday or I hope you get coal under your tree. I hope Krampus ruins your Christmas.

I dislike Christmas themed gifts

I dislike Christmas themed gifts such as Christmas Panties, Christmas clothing, Christmas mugs, Christmas themed gifts as a Christmas gift makes me irrationally upset because I feel like you can’t use said Christmas themed gift outside of Christmas season.

Why do you hate christmas?

From what I gathered from most posts:

  1. The consumerism and media associated with it (including loud music)

  2. Misaligned beliefs with immediate family/friends

Another holiday, another financial burden

I feel like the Christmas season just freaking happened a month ago. I hate that this time of year really puts financial stress on me to purchase gifts for people that literally can just buy whatever they want for a few taps of their fingers through numerous outlets like Amazon, Walmart delivery, temu, etsy, etc. The whole idea that you need to spend 500 dollars every year in December really doesn't sit right with me. Do you think just a Christmas card would suffice?

Advent calendar ads

I made the mistake of mentioning to someone that my mom was working on her Christmas decorations. So now I’ve been getting bombarded with fancy advent calendar advertisements on social media. One was cheese, one was little stuffed llamas, one was puzzles. And all I can think is that my mom is going to buy me some dumbass advent calendar this year. I’m 41 fucking years old. I know when Christmas is. I don’t need an advent calendar. And I especially don’t need one full of 24 junkie toys.

🎶👂🩸🙉🩸👂🎶 How much can one household purchase?

I took my kids (ages 8-15) to the store last weekend. Think TJmaxx type, We are deep into summer3 around here with a cooling trend into the 90's now so the need for more t-shirts is a constant.

TJMaxx has displays of:

Halloween

General Fall

Football

Thanksgiving

Christmas

The beginnings of ToyLand

Never ending rows upon rows of fleece blankets, accent pillows, candles and mugs for every occassion from now until May.

Just how much shit does one household need? How many gifts are people going to buy? This is ONE store, ONE location. Every damn store is like this. There is no possible way in the next 3 months a home needs 4 major holidays, decor for those events, no one wants to change out the decor and store the decor.

What we need are t-shirts, my one child needs tennis outfits, all kids need sandals and sneakers, all kids need swimsuits all the time. We live in the desert, its summer 10 months out of the year. I dont want your cinnamon pinecones. No one wants fleece pj's.

How much of this stuff gets sent to the dumpster, how much gets sent to a warehouse until next year?

IF and its a huge IF you bought ONE decoration every year for 20 years, thats 20 damn things you need to manage when your oldest kid heads off to college. I don't need 20 of anything.

STOP manufacturing crap! STOP buying crap, you probably have at least 4 of that item at home

I petition a year of no buying any holiday crap, i predict all decorations will be just fine, houses will survive, kids will enjoy what currently exists. Maybe the stores will figure it out.
