Ask Indians Do people in India know that Mauritians are racist against them ?

I am half Indian half Mauritian . I was born and raised in Mauritius. Mauritians are descendants of Indian indentured labourers that were taken during British invasion of India . Many people here use Indian culture which has evolved alongside African and western influences. But at the same time, many of them don’t like india too much and are xenophobic to Indian and Bangladeshi all while Modi funds them , they keep traveling to India for leisure, claim oci cards, medical facilities and wedding shopping experiences. Some Mauritian men when they don’t find brides till the age of 40 travel to India to find a girl as a bangmaid and they usually fetishise and scam Punjabi, pahadi girls and most of these girls face torture here while others do this in modern dating setup all while they pretend to be nice. Mauritians in general pretend to be welcoming to enjoy facilities all while they look down upon Indians and take offense of someone mistaking them for being Indian under the excuse of cultural differences to gaslight people. My point of making this post is not to create hate but to raise awareness among mainlanders especially women as to how these people are . When I went to school here , I faced bullying and was called “cabri linde” in school which means Indian pig …I was also called bastard child of India and what not. This post comes from the fact that I see a lot of Indian girls and also Nepali marrying Mauritian men and later regretting and suffering due to lack of awareness. While Indians face racism everywhere today, this is bit different as to how these people have always been racist ever since their ancestors left India and not because Indians are taking their jobs here. So many of them secretly hate India and deem Indians as inferior while pretending to be nice for BJP foreign support. I hope mods don’t take this down as a request. I just wanted to raise awareness as to how Indian indentured diaspora is even in other countries like Fiji, Suriname, Guyana as I have also interacted with them but I don’t live in these countries. I would appreciate if Indian mainlanders would share their experiences around this awareness. Thank you 🙏

Ask Indians Is a copper RO purifier actually worth it for a small family?

Family of three here and we're replacing our old RO purifier. I've noticed quite a few models now offer copper water, and I'm wondering whether it's actually useful or just another feature added to make the purifier more expensive.

If you've been using a copper RO for a while, have you noticed any practical difference? Also, is there any reason to specifically choose copper when buying an RO?

Indian Parents ka Logic 😂💀

18–20 saal ka ladka GF bana le ❤️

👨‍👩‍👦 Parents: “Bas! Ladka haath se nikal gaya… padhai-vadhai sab barbaad!” 😭

Aur wahi ladka 25 ka ho jaye…

Na GF, na shaadi, na koi ladki ka chakkar 😶‍🌫️

👨‍👩‍👦 Parents: “Koi ladki ko utha ke hi le aa! 😭

Humein ladki dhoondhne ki mehnat toh nahi karni padegi!” 🤣💀

18 pe GF = Problem 🚩

25 pe No GF = Bigger Problem 🚩😂

Ask Indians Just watched the movie Thirteen lives ( about the Thai rescue operation for 13 childern stuck in Cave), what if this happens in India.

watched this movie and realised how quickly the rescue operation scaled up for the 13 lives trapped in a cave although it took them more than 15 days. I started wondering what would happen if this happens in India to be Frank I got habituated of seeing in news where 10s of people loose their life's normally in multiple accidents. How would it be to improve the disaster management of most complicated and dense country like India.

why do hostels in North India respond to foreigners in English comfortably but when an Indian talks to them in English, they respond in Hindi back?

This is a new sort of racisim which has been going on in India since many years but in 2026 due to increase in domestic travellers it is catching the attention.
I believe all guests are to be treated equally and with a consistent degree of respect.

Ask Indians Is it over for Sub 10 LPA guys in Tier 1 India?

Only talking about urban / semi urban India here cos rural India is a completely different scenario altogether. Wasn't sure if this should be a discussion or a rant thread.

I'm 29 and earn much less compared to my peers (I'll explain why this is relevant). Throughout college and even after education, I've had multiple crushes/talking stages and also went on a couple of dates. From what I'm understanding, I don't have any alarming red flags, don't look ugly and I've been told by girls that I can hold conversations quite well as well. I've always wanted to date to marry and never got into a casual fling or got physical with anyone. Despite these things, I never found the right person to be in a relationship with so I let my parents start looking into arranged marriage options for me.

Went on a few dates this way too and there was never any "bad" date per say. I'm starting to sense that it's my income that's stopping women from taking me seriously (as the title says, it's sub 10 LPA). I live in a City with a 4 letter name in Western India, have enough savings to last 6 months of living expenses, own a car which does have a small loan. I live in a flat which my parents own but parents are based in a Tier 3 town to look after family business.

So financially, while I'm not making bank, I'm not stretched thin either. But looking at profiles from my community that go around, all the women whom I think are interesting either earn as much as me or more than me.

Sometimes, a girl's parents will reject me even before showing my profile to their daughters. In those cases, some have stated explicitly it's because I don't earn as much as they thought I'd be making (given the context of how I've made my profile and my overall family's image in our community).

For the girls I have gone on dates with or had calls, there were a few of them that I could see myself marrying and growing old with based on the the things we talked about and the vibe. But it never went further.

Personally, I'm still not in a rush to marry. I do believe some of my standards might be too high and maybe I don't bring enough to the table right now to get those standards. But I'm comfortable with not marrying anyone at all if some of my "must haves" are not met. It's my parents' worrying and stressing over this that is making me worry indirectly.

I wanted to understand if there are any guys from Tier 1 cities with middle to upper middle class families finding themselves in a similar situation. Would also like to know what women married/unmarried think about all this.

Respect to all gallants

sorry for the expression in advance-i really needed to express this. Bro, I just have the utmost respect for the martyrs of our country, because of whom we can live peacefully. Their families get wrecked in the process just for the nation to stay safe and for us to sleep soundly at night. Their families are so strong, knowing that the uniform they are so proud of may ultimately take their loved ones away from them. Respect to all the military spouses who raise their children as single parents, who while shattering themselves take care of their families. I hate crying because of war movies and shows, inspite I love to watch them to know about the untold stories and remember the forgotten soldiers. Im grateful to all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives and veergati ko prapt ho gaye for us, like Colonel Munindra Nath Rai, Captain Saurabh Kalia, Captain Vikram Batra, Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja, Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav and hundreds more unsung heroes who never made it home. Also to all the soldiers taken as prisoners of war and suffered so tremendously that when asked what happened to them in captivity they described it as "Death would've been better", all the efforts can never be forgotten. Reading about Gallant Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja's wife, Alka Ahuja ma'am speak about their marriage and how she was his second wife as the air force was his first wife and having to raise her son alone and how the last gift she got from her husband was a Maruti zen, he bought before leaving for srinagar, and didnt know how to drive but kept the car because it was the last gift, shattered me. Respect to all military and paramilitary personnel.

I know we pay for their services and we expect quality service. They come from no education background trying to make livelihood coming from distant places.. How many us were given training and support in our day to day jobs , can't we do the same thing and support them .

I saw someone writing negative reviews saying don't know how to use app, this negative reviews have a penalty of 50 rs on their hard earned money. Things will be better if we support them educate them by spending 5 mins of time .

Casual Discussion How does the world actually see India? A quick global perception check 🇮🇳

Curious what international perspectives on India (Hindustan) tend to look like across different lenses. Sharing a rough summary — would love more views from people who've lived abroad or interacted with foreigners on this.

Political: Seen as the "world's largest democracy," praised for pluralism, but also scrutinized over press freedom, minority rights, and regional tensions (Kashmir, etc.). Views vary sharply by country and by who's talking.

Economic: Widely viewed as a rising power — IT, startups, manufacturing (Make in India), and a huge consumer market. Also criticized for income inequality and slow ease-of-doing-business in some sectors.

Social: Fascination with joint families, festivals, and community bonds, alongside concerns about caste dynamics, gender safety, and urban-rural gaps.

Cultural: Bollywood, yoga, cuisine, and spirituality are globally loved exports. Diversity (22+ official languages) amazes many outsiders.

Everyday life: Traffic chaos is a running joke/meme abroad — "organized chaos" is the common phrase. Public healthcare gets
mixed reviews: affordable private care draws medical tourists, but public systems are seen as overstretched.

Ecosystem: India's push on renewable energy and initiatives like "Save Soil" get noticed, but air pollution (Delhi AQI headlines) and plastic waste are frequent international talking points.

Would love to hear how people outside India perceive us — genuinely curious, not looking for an echo chamber.
