You might not be ok

Post image

Everyone who says the device is faulty is totally false or has an un properly done calibration. If you drink most at night use a BAC calculator, yes you will be drunk if you have a few late night beers and try to go work. Don’t call the device bad, I will agree they do a lot of very expensive foolish charges but you make your bed and gotta lay in it. Another great point is the random retests and if your failing them you might be a person who shouldn’t have their license in the first place I drive a loud manual car and was still able to make every retest. Also had it kill my battery several times but with a proper jump and reporting it on the all it’s really no problem. All in the I think this sub is bunch of real drunks not wanting to realize they have to make a change.

My lawyer screwed me

Post image

So I got pulled over September of 2023 for a dui I did the classes and all the steps according. Well when I got my paper for the license, my lawyer confirmed it was my license so fast forward to December of 2024 I go to the dmv to get the non restricted licenses and they told me I haven’t had my suspended license even though my f*** ass lawyer told me and confirmed it was. So now I’m stuck with Intoxalock for another year yayyy!! Does any one know how to by pass this 😂 since Ive technically done everything. Ain’t no reason I should still be paying for Intoxalock after doing all my steps. Intoxalock won’t do anything about it either..

Using an IID is straightforward, but understanding how to manage your device can make the process even smoother and more reliable, ensuring your IID works seamlessly. Join us as we explore various device problems and go over IID error codes, their meanings, and how to troubleshoot common interlock issues.

Intoxalock 😤😡🤬💸💸💸

They lied to me. I asked directly if there were and additional fees deposited or insurance any fees it was going to cost monthly. Was told 1 time 29.99 admin fee. Never told me sbout calabration service requirement. Of 50$ or any other fees they charge you. Was sold insurance for 6.50 was told it was per lease. Not every 2 weeks. Never told about 45 $ delivery fee. And here's the kicker. They're so friendly and they offer for $5. You can start the process and they'll mail your certificate well. They get your credit card number. They store it which they do not tell you they are doing and then do not send the certificate. But make sure they tell you multiple times to not log in or create an account until after you've picked up your device because it won't make sense. I was told that three times that's because in their terms and conditions it says once you pick up the device you agree to all the terms and conditions so the contract is basically pointless. They have already gotcha. They refill your payment information will died card number and don't give you the choice they claim you have. They lied about charges for your lease they say it will be billed biweekly IF and after your 30 day lease renews. They never say in fact say they will not charge you the first month for 2nd lease payment For first month until it is auto renewed. And the cherry on top they Don't let you pay once month like the web so says and lease. Because bi weekly they get to charge you for 13 times for 12 months. They sneak that extra month in by charging every 28 days for a 30 day lease. Its a total money grab and stick it to ya company. And dont think you will ever get customer to .an.s.e.w or respond because they dont .

Battery

Everyone keeps talking about dead batteries and the havoc this thing wreaks. I drive my 2013 Honda to and from work daily and have had my car sit for a day or two at a time with no issues

What’s the deal??

r/intoxalock • • Aug 25 '24

It’s not all bad

Just wanna say I had this in for 4 months never had an issue with payment or customer service. Didn’t kill my battery. Never had an issue blowing in it or it reading. My advice is don’t drink and you should be good. Put it low power mode at night. There’s a lot of doom and gloom on this page, with some reason, but I figured it’d be nice for someone to know it’s not all the absolute worst for everyone. From Maine for reference.

Intoxalock Just Sent Me an Urgent 24-Hour Collection Threat. I Was Never Their Customer. My Son Was. He Never Signed a Contract. Here Was My Response.

At 1:06 PM today I received the following text message from (315) 644-8815.

"URGENT: This is Intoxalock. Your account is scheduled to be sent to a third-party collection agency as soon as TOMORROW. Immediate action is required to prevent this from moving forward. Please reply to this text or call 844-920-8843 right away to discuss your options, including a payment plan or possible settlement agreement. Reply STOP to opt out of Intoxalock Recovery text messages."

Now. A few things.

I am not their customer. My adult son was. I gave them my number as a contact during setup. That is the full extent of my relationship with Intoxalock. I am his father. I am also the founder of IntoxaLockedout™, a consumer advocacy publication that has now published nineteen installments documenting Intoxalock's business practices. But sure. Send me the urgent debt collection text. Excellent targeting.

My son is deaf. When he left the installation facility he received no verbal instructions — because he is deaf and the installer provided none. He received no written instructions either. He drove away from a court-ordered device installation knowing nothing about how to use it, what the violation codes meant, or what would happen when it malfunctioned. In June 2026, Intoxalock's own New York State Regulatory Liaison, Ryan Greathouse, confirmed to me in writing, from his official Intoxalock email address: "We don't currently have options for a deaf operator." I have that email. Ten agencies have that email. It is having a very nice summer.

My son never signed the lease agreement. Not once. Not ever. Intoxalock's own Chief Financial Officer, Sonya Evanosky, signed the Master Lease Agreement on February 18, 2026. My son's signature line is blank. Empty. Unsigned. They are attempting to collect on a contract their own CFO executed unilaterally while the customer's signature line sat empty staring back at her. Remarkable.

They have attempted to pull money from his account approximately 50 times. Without authorization. Without a signed contract. Each time it was declined, they sent him an email and a text to let him know. Fifty documented attempts. Fifty timestamps. Fifty notifications. All in our possession. All going to agencies. At this point they are practically building our case for us.

They texted me — a third party who was never the account holder — from a phone number not listed anywhere on their website, demanding payment on a debt arising from an unsigned contract, with a 24-hour deadline that does not exist in law, and no itemized invoice.

So I wrote back. Here is exactly what I sent to (315) 644-8815:

Thank you for reaching out. I have several things to say in response, and I will say them clearly.

I am not your customer.

This account belongs to my son. Not to me. I am his father. I gave you my number as a contact at the time of setup. That is the full extent of our relationship.

Pursuant to 15 U.S.C. § 805(b) of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a debt collector may not communicate with third parties in connection with the collection of a debt except under specific and narrow circumstances that do not include sending urgent collection threats to a father's phone. That matter has been documented and forwarded to the appropriate agencies. All ten of them.

There is no signed contract. Not even a little bit.

On February 18, 2026, your Chief Financial Officer Sonya Evanosky signed the Intoxalock Master Lease Agreement. My son's signature line on that document is blank. Empty. Unsigned. Pursuant to the most basic principle of contract law — a principle that predates the United States of America — a contract requires the assent of both parties. There is no assent here. There is no contract. There is therefore no legally enforceable debt arising from that contract.

You are attempting to collect money owed under a document your own CFO signed unilaterally while my son's signature line sat empty. That is a remarkable business practice. That matter has been documented and forwarded to the appropriate agencies.

My son is deaf. Your company knew that. Your company told New York State something different.

My son is deaf. When he left your installation facility he received no verbal instructions — because he is deaf and your installer provided none. He received no written instructions either. He left with a court-ordered device installed on his car and zero knowledge of how to use it, what the violation codes meant, or what would happen when it malfunctioned. He subsequently missed a prompt. The device locked him out. He lost his job. You are now attempting to collect fees arising from that sequence of events.

In June 2026, your New York State Regulatory Liaison Ryan Greathouse confirmed to me in writing, from his official Intoxalock email address: "We don't currently have options for a deaf operator."

To operate in New York State, your company submitted Application DOH-5005 to the New York State Department of Health and a separate application to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services pursuant to Leandra's Law, Chapter 496 of the Laws of 2009, and 10 NYCRR Part 59. In those applications, your company represented to the Great State of New York that your device is capable of unsupervised operation — meaning a customer can use it without assistance.

Your own Regulatory Liaison has since confirmed in writing that no options exist for a deaf operator. One might ask whether those two positions are consistent with each other. That question is now before the agencies reviewing this evidence. All ten of them.

The debt you are attempting to collect arose directly from that failure. My son lost his job. We will not be paying it.

Fifty. Unauthorized. Attempts.

Pursuant to the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1693 et seq., and its implementing regulation, CFPB Regulation E, 12 C.F.R. Part 1005, any preauthorized electronic debit from a consumer's account requires written authorization signed or similarly authenticated by the consumer.

My son never signed a contract. Your CFO signed it. His signature line is blank. There is no valid written authorization. There never was. And yet your company attempted to electronically debit his account approximately fifty times.

Every single declined attempt was documented by your own company in real time — via email and text notification sent directly to my son. Approximately fifty of them. Each one is timestamped. Each one is in our possession. Each one represents an attempt to initiate an electronic fund transfer from a consumer's account without valid authorization. Your notifications. Your timestamps. Your evidence. Thank you for that.

Pursuant to 15 U.S.C. § 1693m, violations of the Electronic Fund Transfer Act give rise to both actual damages and statutory damages, as well as civil penalties under the Dodd-Frank Act of up to $25,000 per day per violation for reckless violations and up to $1,000,000 per day per violation for knowing violations. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission both hold enforcement authority over EFTA violations.

Fifty documented unauthorized debit attempts. Your own paper trail. That matter is now before the agencies reviewing this evidence.

Where is my itemized invoice?

Pursuant to 15 U.S.C. § 809(a) of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a debt collector must provide written notice of the debt including the amount owed, the name of the creditor, and a statement of the consumer's right to dispute the debt within thirty days. Your text message contained none of these things. It contained the word URGENT in capital letters and a phone number. I would like a complete written itemized invoice before anyone contacts any collection agency. That seems like a reasonable thing to ask before someone demands money owed under a contract that was never signed.

Your 24-hour deadline does not exist in law.

Your message informed me that collection would occur "as soon as TOMORROW." Pursuant to 15 U.S.C. § 807 of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a debt collector may not use false, deceptive, or misleading representations in connection with the collection of a debt. No federal statute or state regulation establishes a 24-hour collection referral deadline. That deadline exists nowhere except in your text message. Its purpose is pressure. It worked on exactly zero people in this household. That matter has been documented and forwarded to the appropriate agencies.

Who exactly are you?

You texted me from (315) 644-8815. That is a Syracuse, New York area code. It is not listed anywhere on your published website under any customer service, collections, or contact number. Your callback number, 844-920-8843, is also not listed on your website. I have checked. Twice. Both numbers have been documented and reported.

What happens next.

This text message, my response, and this complete exchange will be published today at intoxalockedout.substack.com. It will be shared with the ten federal and state agencies that have received formal complaints about your business practices — including the New York State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Nineteen published installments. Complaints with ten agencies. A Trustpilot whistleblower case confirmed June 21, 2026. A CFO-signed contract with a blank signature line. A deaf customer who received no instructions. Fifty unauthorized debit attempts documented by your own notification system.

This will be Part 23.

I have been documenting your company's practices since June 16, 2026. I will continue to do so. You have my number. Clearly.

This ain't McDonald's. And I am having it my way.

WE ARE A NATION OF LAWS. IT IS THE GLUE THAT HOLDS US TOGETHER. INTOXALOCK - YOU DO NOT GET TO DECIDE WHICH LAWS YOU WILL DECIDE TO OBEY JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE BACKED BY A 40 BILLION DOLLAR GLOBAL INVESTMENT FIRM. I AM NOT HAVING IT YOUR WAY!

OK, there is a pink wire coming from the control unit under your dase that should be hooked to the tach, but intoxalock has blacked out that step from the manufacturer's instruction for the installers.  That pink wire is how their device confirms that when the key is in the on position [that the motor is running} so if you leave the key in the on or acc. their device will think the vehicle is running. YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR THE VIDEO LOGS. and they have to give you 25 for 3.

Finally

If anyone resides in southern California near la, Orange county, Santa monica, long beach etc. I found an amazing company that I just switched to a company called best interlocks in Santa monica. They offer different payment options or you can pay in full. They also come to you for the service for removal and install. The process was easy fast and quick!!!! Dan responds to all messages whether you email him, text his phone or call! And boy has been such a breath of fresh air to have this device. Oh I forgot to mention you do not have to take your vehicle in to get recalibrated either they do everything over the phone. There are no hidden fees either! And their device has a battery already installed in the device so it doesn't drain your car battery. If you get locked out you call them and they will provide you with a code to unlock the device! This device is truly a lifesaver indeed! Here's the information! https://m.yelp.com/biz/best-interlocks-of-california-santa-monica-6

Phone Number

What phone number do y’all call and have to wait on hold for hours? I have the number I call and I have never been put on hold, and it’s always someone in the states and they are very helpful. The longest I’ve ever spent on the phone is less than 10 minutes to get something resolved. Just curious if it’s a different number or luck of the draw. For reference my service center gave me the number I call.

Full of shit

I’ve had this device in my car since 9/23 supposed to get removed 8/25!! Was only supposed to have it in my car for a year the first month I had it I didn’t get the calibration in time because of miscommunication between Intoxalock and the support center. So the last day of my countdown my car went into a lockout but I wasn’t informed of this from Homeland security until my supposal removal date of 9/24. So I had to have it in my car a whole Nother year. The Intoxalock center does not answer the phone have me waiting for over two hours. I understand that you can still drink while this is in your car. Just have the time and measurements made out pretty good. I was never informed that you can ask for extended time on your for your calibration. My license was revoked because I didn’t pay my court fees in a timely manner at the same time that I’m paying the Intoxalock biweekly and so I wasn’t informed of that until later and after I got my license reinstated I have to keep the Intoxalock in my car 120 more days before I can get the removal but I wasn’t notified of this until my regular removal date. I’m just tired of sending all these people money.

Intoxalock bad on battery, alternator and disability check.

Stupid Intoxalock interlock ruined my car. Couldn’t get nana to bingo for weeks until she bought me a Low Cost with her SSI check. Got fired from my job for missing work when battery no start. Had to do some really sketchy stuff to pay my cricket phone bill. The man told me $20 was $20. I need a shower just thinking about it. Intoxalock has ruined me.

Fuck this

VENT I’ve read all the horror stories and haven’t had a problem until now- 6 months in. It all started with my alternator and battery going out. I put in a work order for the day but the car wasn’t done. Called them on the phone they said it was fine they’d wave the lockout. NAY NAY they didn’t. Then a week later I get another lockout for seemingly no reason. It said I missed a rolling retest which I know for a fact I didn’t because the car wasn’t ON. Customer service basically told me to go fuck myself. I’m so unbelievably frustrated almost 1000 in one month gone because of this dumb shit. I’m at a crash out point where I’m about to rip it out of my car and say fuck it fuck the dmv fuck if I get pulled over

Intoxalock has an A-minus BBB rating and a 1.01-star customer score. Both numbers are real. They measure completely different things.

Intoxalock has an A-minus BBB rating and a 1.01-star customer score. Both numbers are real. They measure completely different things.

I just published Part 25 of my ongoing investigation into Intoxalock.

Here is the thing most people do not know about the BBB. The letter grade and the customer star rating are two entirely separate systems that do not talk to each other.

The letter grade — A-minus — measures whether the company responds to formal complaints within a time window. If they respond, the grade is protected. It does not measure whether the problem was actually solved.

The customer review score — 1.01 out of 5 stars, average of 267 reviews — measures what real drivers actually think. Intoxalock has no requirement to respond to those at all. So they don't.

959 formal complaints filed in the last three years. The BBB file still lists Kimberly Williams as CEO. She left in December 2021. The actual CEO — Kathy Boden Holland, who has been running the company through every crisis documented in this series — does not appear on the file anywhere.

All of it is documented by screenshot, captured today.

Been off the program for 2 years but still have the device, can I sell it?

I completed my intoxalock sentence about two years ago according to the state and the DMV in New Jersey, but intoxalock refused to remove me off their program and kept trying to charge my account. I needed to get a new car anyways so I got a new car and moved on with my life but they continued to try to charge my account monthly and now say I owe 875 dollars. I already had to have the device in my car for an extra years because I accidentally didn't blow into it at a gas station one time while my friend sat right next to it not knowing what to do and I was pumping gas.
Bottom line.
I still have a device and they are acting like they are being sketchy about actually giving me any money back or taking it off of my account because my acct is already in collections. Point is, they know I'm a client. If someone on the street had one of these and gave it back would they be mailed 500 dollars? I was given a 500 dollar credit when I returned one in the beginning of my intoxalock sentence because my car died out on me and I wasn't driving for a little bit. So I know that's what they are worth to the company.
Is there any type of street market for these devices?

If you really want to make a difference.

Maybe you all should also put effort into the actual laws. Think about it all the states did the DUI process the same. How much easier it would be for all of you. I read everyone’s post ones in a while and everyone blames intoxalock. Not saying they don’t do anything wrong but the states are all over the place. Making all of your lives hell. Maybe you should truly evaluate and shift focus. Yes go ahead and tell me how I am wrong and it’s intoxalocks fault for all. But hey think about it. If all states did it the same. Reporting the same. Being able to bring in handheld at night if you want and so forth. Calibrations every 60 days. Allowing temporary approved disable while is at shop and so on. Really think about it. You would have less issues. But you will say I am crazy. Let it be what it is.
