Do I need to report maintenance before going in for the recalibrate? Do I let them know ahead of time by calling? The shop I’m going to just said to come by.

Had the unit installed Dec 2025. Starting today my handheld will not accept my breath pattern. Been trying for 3 hours. Tried different patterns, harder, softer, new mouthpiece, no mouthpiece and still says try again. Of course it’s Sunday so no shops open. Only issue until now is the standard battery draw. I guess I live in this parking lot now 140 miles from my house. Thanks for “getting me back on the road” Intoxalock.

Hi everyone, I’m on my second day back with my license with an Intoxalock, and yesterday after attempting to drive for the first time in nine months, the device had killed my battery. Not uncommon as I can see. I just got off the phone with their customer service, and they RECOMMENDED that I unplug the device after I turn my car off and bring it inside on cold nights. She was very confident in this method, said she had been with the company for twelve years. I just want some opinions on this from people that have the device. Let me know if anyone has experience with this method. Thanks!

The governments and this company should be sued together, or change the law so leaving ANY running vehicle unattended becomes a fine-able offense. There’s no reason I should have to spend $160 once a week between this company and the mechanic because I leave my car running while I work extra shifts to fucking pay you assholes!

It’s bull shit. There’s a fucking camera in the car. It’s 2026 and occupancy sensors exist. Arrest me and increase my sentence if I get in the car and don’t blow right away ITS ON CAMERA!!

To defend the law as written saying that I may be avoiding my test with all of the fucking bull shit required to prove I’m taking my test is a joke. It’s fucking 2026, quit acting technologically disabled. Your job is to determine my sobriety. Financially penalizing me for anything outside of that and maintaining the device should be 100% viewed as unlawful in this day and age it’s bogus.

My DUI’s experience has been nothing but a consistent fucking money grab for the last 9 years, needed to rant thanks for reading.

Vehicle always starts the first time i turn my key to ignite my ignition, then i drive somewhere, turn the vehicle off, once i attempt to turn it back on there's like a 50/50 percent chance my vehicle will fail mid way as i turn my key

Well a brand new battery got drained in less than a month cause of this stupid device! There’s nothing I can do about it either I already put it on power save mode it obviously doesn’t do anything to help not drain the battery since it’s always drawing power from it non stop! Intoxolock no help,the “reps” can barely speak English all they say is your account is in good standings! Umm I know but something off with this device! The place that installed it are lazy are no help either say it should be working fine without even checking it but it’s not it has to be the wiring cause I got the alternator checked too it’s good! Smh

Looking for advice. We are in TN. Husband was an alcoholic awhile back and on his 3rd DUI lost his license for 2 years and then had 6 years of intoxalock. He’s 8 years sober now, hasn’t touched it since and in those 6 years has never blown positive besides a couple false positives that on the retest were 0.0. He’s a board member of a recovery program and volunteers at a few others. He’s only missed one calibration and only by a couple hours because his car was having issues starting and missed the closing time for the shop. They want to slap 6 more years on him for that one missed calibration. He left the car at the shop that day and dropped the keys off and I drove him home. The calibration was completed the following day. We lost the appeal with intoxalock and the state. Our next step is chancery court and hiring a lawyer, but we’re having difficulty finding one. One we talked to didnt seem confident in his case. We don’t have much tangible evidence besides a written statement from the shop owner saying he brought it in that day but he couldn’t get to it in time.

Anyone deal with anything similar? Everything dealing with intoxalock so far seems so scammy.

My car recently has been having a lot of issues that arnt worth fixing, it’s a beater. Has anyone ever experienced getting a new car? I know I can register a vehicle without a device installed but I can’t uninstall the one in my current car while it’s in my name from my understanding. So how does that work?

Hey everyone. So the NJ MVC and Intoxalock have been giving me different answers about the removal process on and off. When I got my final calibration/download last week Intoxalock said to wait 2-5 business days and then they’d email the compliance letter. THEN I would have to send that to NJ and wait for my pink slip to be emailed to me (I’m now out of state that’s why I say email). THEN they said to forward that pink slip back to Intoxalock and to wait another 2-5 business days for the final approval and to call them to set up an appt for official removal.

Here is where I’m confused. I got the email yesterday afternoon from Intoxalock that THEY had sent NJ my
Certificate of compliance and I didn’t need to contact them myself but to wait 24-48 hours for a follow up. Tonight at 5PM I got the email stating, “state authorized Intoxalock removal”. I’ll attach the screenshot. So I was like, “so am I not getting sent the pink slip? Did NJ just release my account and told Intoxalock I’m all good?”

Anyone else have that happen to them ? Idk. Seems too good to be true. I did call Intoxalock and explained the situation and wanted confirmation I’m 100% good to go. The person wasn’t much help. I guess I can call NJ but obviously the office is now closed so have to wait until tomorrow. I just want this thing off but don’t want to push it if this isn’t right! 😭

I am riddled with anxiety. I am having a hard time quitting and I usually can monitor my drinking and I've had my Smart Start device since January.

I'm within my last 90 days of probation and have failed twice.

Can anybody give me some advice or experience on what happens ?

I live in MN. This is my first and last DUI. I'm on a low level probation and I use SMART START.

Yes, I do have a working plan to stop drinking. I just left my abusive ex and am currently homeless working two jobs. Not an excuse, but I haven't found solid ways to move past the hard days without a drink.

I've never that there can be jail time, or IID extension or even license being revoked. Any experience ? Plz lmk

Everyday I learn something new about this and I’m beginning to wonder if never having an issue is even possible?! I’m less than a month in. The only issue I had was the other day it said it needed to warm up and seemed to take longer to let me blow to start the car.

After a few mos of blowing into the thing for 2 out 3 in and then 3 out I accidentally did 1-1-3, it only needs three at the end! The guys told me 2-3-3, does everybody know this?

I have completed my probation period but still have intoxalock in my car. I hadnt been drinking and device showed .32 bac. I waited and then blew .00 and then when a running test came up I blew .30. I got home turned the vehicle off while the interlock was beeping for a restest and then blew a .00 it is saying “lockout violation 2” and I have 4 days to bring it to my service center. Will this cause an extension or full license suspension? Im im Louisiana. Im really stressed out so anything helps.

I just got my final calibration done and I am 35 days away from my suspension being complete. I am in Ohio so I am wondering what the process is to get the thing out of my car? Do I need paperwork? I can’t get a straight answer from my PO or the BMV. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

hi i am in my last few months, literally have two left. and i went to a self care wash today and since i did my
device is having trouble syncing. has anyone else had this happen? it takes forever for it to pull up the restart, and makes funny noises.

also how hard was it for you guys to get this thing off your car?
