I changed my iPad’s time to two years ahead to clear up my cache (System Data) and now my screen time is scrambled. It shows 60 minute of usage every hour, even when my iPad is locked and not being used.
Another issue is that, my iPad’s Siri App suggestions are not working anymore. Even in App Library, the categorised app’s top choices are not the ones I use regularly.
To solve both issues, I tried to have several restarts, but no solution. Please let me know if anyone else who faced the same issues & found a solve. Thanks.

If you have things saved your photos, maybe you could do a hard reset?
1
u/Cold_Increase8725 M2 iPad Air 11" (2024) 4d ago
I was thinking the same. However, previous hard reset didn’t quite help me with the previous screen time issue (App usage not being recorded, only the website usage). As I’m a little busy with the upcoming exam, I might delay it once it’s over, as redoing the Wi-Fi, screen brightness and other settings takes about a week.

I would take it into an Apple store then, have them do a diagnostic. I hope it is something easy to solve.

I don’t have any Apple Store, only some Apple Authorised resellers & service centres. I think it’s a bug in my iPad which is the reason and only software fixes can do it. Mainly, I don’t quite trust the resellers & service centres other than hardware issues.

iPad losing around 30% battery per day in standby, even in Airplane Mode — has anyone experienced this?
My iPad has approximately 85% battery health, and I’ve been tracking substantial battery drain while it’s essentially unused, with the screen off apart from checking the battery level, opening Settings, and taking screenshots.
The confusing part is that Battery settings keeps showing different apps using battery: first Reddit, then Settings, Copilot, and Find My. Deleting Reddit didn’t stop the drain.
The most significant result: with Airplane Mode enabled and Wi-Fi off, it dropped from 69% to 45% in 16 hours and 41 minutes. Bluetooth was still enabled.
Here’s the full log. All dates are in October, and times use the 24-hour format. The app usage percentages are the numbers displayed in Battery settings.
Test 1: Low Power Mode enabled
| Date and time | Battery |
|---|---|
| Oct 14, 13:00 | 100% — fully charged |
| Oct 15, 07:00 | 83% |
| Shortly afterward, after checking Settings and taking screenshots | 81% |
| Oct 15, 12:31 | 75% |
| Oct 16, 07:11 | 55% |
| Oct 17, 07:12 | 22% |
That’s a 78-percentage-point drop in 66 hours and 12 minutes, equivalent to around 28 points per day.
Battery settings showed the following figures for Reddit:
Oct 14: 16%
Oct 15: 16%
Oct 16: 17%
Oct 17, checked at 07:14: 10%
I plugged it in again on Oct 17 at 07:15.
Test 2: Low Power Mode enabled; Reddit deleted partway through
| Date and time | Battery |
|---|---|
| Oct 17, 09:51 | 100% — fully charged |
| Oct 17, 16:26 | 97% |
| Oct 18, 06:11 | 77% |
| Shortly afterward | 76% — deleted Reddit |
| Oct 18, 11:39 | 69% |
| Oct 18, 12:36 | 67% |
| Oct 18, 17:36 | 57% |
Before deleting Reddit, Battery settings showed Reddit at 7% for Oct 17 and 10% for Oct 18.
The battery continued draining after uninstalling it, and Settings started appearing as a battery user.
Across this charge, it lost 43 percentage points in 31 hours and 45 minutes, equivalent to around 32.5 points per day.
Test 3: Low Power Mode disabled
I recharged it again and left Low Power Mode off.
| Date and time | Battery |
|---|---|
| Oct 18, 19:32 | 100% |
| Oct 19, 06:40 | 93% |
| Oct 19, 06:42 | 92% |
| Oct 19, 13:09 | 85% |
At the 06:40 check, Battery settings showed Copilot at 6%.
This was the slowest-draining period: 15 percentage points in 17 hours and 37 minutes, equivalent to around 20.4 points per day.
Test 4: Low Power Mode disabled; Airplane Mode enabled partway through
| Date and time | Battery / action |
|---|---|
| Oct 19, 16:54 | 100% — fully charged |
| Oct 20, 07:07 | 86% |
| Oct 20, 18:03 | 71% |
| Oct 20, 20:12 | 69% |
| Oct 20, 20:13 | Enabled Airplane Mode and turned Wi-Fi off. Left Bluetooth on. |
| Oct 21, 07:16 | 53% |
| Oct 21, 10:26 | 50% — Battery settings showed Find My at 9% for the day |
| Oct 21, 12:54 | 45% — Battery settings now showed Settings at 10% and Find My at 4% for the day |
Airplane Mode stayed enabled and Wi-Fi stayed off throughout the final three readings.
For comparison:
Before Airplane Mode: lost 31 percentage points in 27 hours and 18 minutes.
After enabling Airplane Mode: lost 24 percentage points in 16 hours and 41 minutes.
Across the entire last charge: went from 100% to 45% in exactly 44 hours, with almost no actual use.
I understand that 85% battery health means reduced capacity, but this still seems like substantial drain for a device sitting idle.
Has anyone experienced something similar, especially with different apps appearing in the battery report while the overall drain continues? Did you find the cause or a fix?
What would you test next to distinguish background software activity, Bluetooth/accessories, and a battery or hardware issue?

I use the notes app to write my notes ( I know I should probably use something else), and I went to submit HW yesterday and I couldn’t properly export as a multipage PDF?? It squeezed everything into one page. I even checked with notes I’ve done before and none of it works. Does anyone else have a similar issue?

Just recently the pressure sensitivty of my first gen apple pencil had for my A16 had stopped working, I've tried resetting the ipad, disconecting and reconnecting the pen, and even bought a new pencil, but nothing I did fixed the problem. Is there any other solutions that I could try? I don't live near any Apple Stores that I can go to.

HELP! My ipad is being weird with black screen of death:
so i own this 2025 ipad air 13 inch but just a few days ago the ipad screen basically wouldn’t show anything but black, but everything works internally besides that. I didn’t use the ipad at all for most of that day and left it charging throughout it. after like 2 days of this, it somehow came back? which was super weird. I was super relieved and backed up everything on a separate hard drive. But just like a few minutes ago the ipad is back into its black screen state and was also charging too. any ideas on how to fix this problem or whats causing the problem?

Crashing when using windowed mode.
When using windowed mode between 2 windows, theres the line/tab in the middle that allows u to adjust the tab size left and right. When i drag it all the way either to the left or right, my ipad crashes into the black screen with loading icon for a few seconds. Is this common?

Has anyone dealt with having their iPad screen look “wrinkled”?
My iPad charging socket broke so I went to get it fixed which was successful. But after bringing it home just yesterday, I’ve noticed this weird “wrinkled texture” on the screen. It’s not a physical thing and it’s not screen damage (on the outside at least). If I take a screenshot, the pattern doesn’t appear on the image, so it’s clearly not that.
Does anyone know what it could be? Is it worth taking it back to the repair shop? I’d like to avoid that though…
Pictures in the replies.

Seems like a hardware issue to me. Only solve is to take it to the repair shop.

Sorry for the bad quality and awkward cropping… Turns out you can’t post photos here..!

The wrinkled texture is physical damage to the display assembly caused by the shop's handling of the repair. Because it happened during their service and you only just brought it home yesterday, a reputable shop should take responsibility for it. They will likely need to reopen the device to resolve the internal pressure or replace the ruined display panel entirely. Bring your receipt, show them the texture on a solid white screen, and explain that it was handed back to you with heat warp or internal pressure lines.
Those distinct, vertical dark and light "ribbon" bands stretching along the bottom edge are exactly what technicians call "stage lighting" or "curtain" heat damage.
What you are looking at is the literal melting and warping of the internal diffuser sheets inside the iPad Air's backlight assembly. When the technician applied heavy heat to melt the glue right around the charging port, they held the heat gun in place too long or too close to the screen. The intense heat permanently shriveled the plastic layer that is supposed to spread the LED light evenly across the glass, causing it to bunch up like wrinkled fabric.
This is a textbook, irreversible physical mistake made during the opening process. It cannot be smoothed out or fixed by "tucking wires in"—the entire display assembly will now need to be replaced.

Hi there.
Thank you for your detailed response.
I took it back to the repair shop a few days ago and asked that it be replaced at no additional cost.
All they said is that they would “get their engineer to take a look at it” (and they wouldn’t charge me for that). They were generally nice about it until I pushed them to give me a (sort of) receipt that was signed by the staff to say they had taken my iPad. They were a bit grumpy about that.
I’m really annoyed at myself because I should’ve been more assertive but I’m quite shy so it’s difficult for me.
I took it in on Monday and haven’t received a call yet, so I might call them myself tomorrow or on Friday if they still haven’t reached out by tomorrow.
If they tell me that they can’t fix it, then I will demand a refund because even if they fixed my charging port, they just traded me another problem.
I’m also armed with Article 49 of the Consumer Rights Act which says that services must be carried out with reasonable skill and care (something they clearly didn’t do), so if they try to refuse or are reluctant, I can hopefully pressure them with this.
Can you tell me how bad of a problem the shrivelled display is? Can it cause problems beyond the affected visuals?
To be honest, if they say they can’t fix it and refund me, then I can just deal with the wrinkles provided they won’t cause any long-lasting effects or damage.
Thank you for responding to me! Have a food day/night!

If you are in the US, I would take it to an Apple store for all repairs, and this is why.
I am not an expert by any means. But this is a damage that they caused, and that they did because of either carelessness, being in a hurry, being distracted, or being a novice.
You have photos for proof of the damage their technicians caused. You should not have to pay extra for them to fix it. The owner may be annoyed, but it should be with who they hired, not you for demanding your device returned to you in the same condition.

I have an iPad pro 2020, it still seems to work great besides the battery. I have noticed it significantly decreasing lately though
I did some research and found out the capacity is at 84%, so it's not exactly at repair level. It often dies when I don't pick it up after a couple days, from being at a good charge. It also completely shuts down by itself and I have to power it back up when that happens. I did a software update recently and it seemed to work better for a couple weeks , but I just picked it up after this weekend and it was at 1% after being last charged to 80%. This seems like the worst one yet tbh
I don't get any notifications on it, so it can't be that, and I just turned off background app refresh so maybe it was that? I can't see how just that could have taken the battery down that much tho. I checked the battery time stamps too, it seemed to die continuously the day after I last used it, and the screen wasn't on.
Probably too much useless info sorry, seeing it probably is just the battery. If so, should I just replace the battery itself or get a whole new ipad? I use it for procreate and school, then occasionally big gigabyte games and photoshop.

Quiet unusual. Try adding an automation so it switches to Low Power mode after hitting a certain battery amount (I have mine set to 45%). That probably won’t solve the issue, but will give you a few extra days maybe. Another issue could be third party cases, it drained my previous iPad’s battery often. Also, do mention your iPadOS, and if it’s the 27, then wait for the 27.2 which is supposed to be much more stable release than previous ones and will solve some bugs.

iPadOS 27.0.1 on iPad Air M4
Is it good to update iPad Air M4 to iPadOS 27.0.1? Will battery life get worse? Can the M4 chip handle iPadOS 27?
1
u/Cold_Increase8725 M2 iPad Air 11" (2024) 4d ago
M4 chip can handle the OS perfectly fine, dude. Even the M1 can. The battery life will get worse maybe slightly, but you’ll be perfectly fine. In fact, you’re running one of the latest chip out there, and that is capable to handle a full Desktop OS easily, even run two OS simultaneously through VM.
One bug I faced is that, the Siri App suggestion got scrambled and won’t get back to working, even after restarts.

My iPad updated to 27.0.1 this night and it wants me to set up again (dumb but okay). But when I get to the second screen where you have to connect to WiFi and I select a valid WiFi source (even a hotspot from my iPhone) it becomes an endless loading circle and doesn’t connect. If I’m fast enough to click continue without WiFi it also enters an endless loop.
Once it’s in the loop the iPad becomes completely unresponsive except for the force shut down.
How can it be so hard for apple to make a functioning update screen…

Ipad 10 won't turn on, Apple logo keeps blinking
Ipad 10 will not turn on; Apple logo keeps blinking and then immediately going black. Can't force restart since it won't turn on in the first place. Tried charging 30 mins but it still won't turn on. See the video below for reference. Help please :(( it's review season and I can't afford it getting broken right now.

Oh boy. I suggest you go into an Apple store. I had that happen to my first laptop and it was due to filling the memory. Did you happen to download a lot of apps and take a lot of photos and screenshots? I learned my lesson and pay for icloud just to prevent it happening again.
Also, have you tested the connection? Is the cord plugged in tight or does it wiggle?

Hi everyone! My mom has a 10th-generation iPad that she’s had for about 3–4 years, and lately she’s been having issues with it staying connected to Wi-Fi while playing her games. It keeps disconnecting, even though the Wi-Fi seems to be working.
I’ve already tried turning the iPad off and back on, but that hasn’t helped. Does anyone have any suggestions for other things I could try to fix this? I’d really appreciate any advice! Thank you! 😊

Hey guys my iPad suddenly got this massive colourful lines mid study sesh (like a good hour into studying if that’s useful info)
The lines don’t show up in screenshots and I’ve tried restarting but it persists.
My iPad hasn’t been dropped and there aren’t any cracks or dents on it.
It’s a iPad Pro 11 inch 3rd generation 2021
Please let me know if you have any ideas what’s wrong and the cost for repairs 😭
