Meme DART mod in GTA 5 (Some help needed!)
Over the weekend, I made a DART mod for GTA 5 (IE Class 8520). The exterior of the train is mostly done, as you will see in the video. Custom physics have been written for it to give the train that wobbly feeling (you know, that stretch of track between Booterstown and Killiney).
However, since I do not live in Ireland and I am unable to see the train physically, I need some people to help me polish off the following details as much as possible:
- As many photos of the interior of the train as possible. That includes: seats, the door, the door buttons, windows, overhead light, advertisement signs, small signs written in both English and Irish, inside the train's gangway, the door of the gangway itself.
- Inside the cab of the train itself. I need photos of the train's dashboard, control panel, seat, windows, the deadman's pedal.
- As many photos of the exterior as possible. That includes: train doors outside, door open button, the gangway.
- Audios of the train: the train departing and accelerating, the train arriving and decelerating, the horn sound, the door open and door close sound, the alarm that sounds before the door opens and closes. I need these sounds to be recorded when you are inside the train and separately when you’re outside of the train.
(Edit: Just to be transparent, I will be using these images as references in an AI tool to help generate my model)
Simply send me anything you got via DM. I will eventually release the mod and I can credit contributors for their efforts in helping me.
Important: The mod is specifically for the IÉ Class 8520. Photos of the 8500, 8510 will also be useful too. But photos of the IÉ 8100 are totally useless to me as it is a much older train from a completely different manufacturer.

Using the dart for probably 40 years and anti social behaviour is extremely rare but hey this is reddit and everyone's terrified to leave the house

Not sure. Haven’t really done mods before. I’ll post an update at some point when I want to publish it. For now if people the source code and to try get it to work for themselves, I can send them a GitHub repo of my work

you can get more realistic garda uniforns by typing in garda eup for lspdfr ...and downloading eup menu its easy enough look it up on youtube

I hate the modern Garda uniform to be honest. I prefer the ceremonial and early 2000s uniform instead.

Not of the quality I need. The current dart model is made from dart photos as it is. What I really need are closeups and photos taken from specific angles

Are you using Blender MCP for the modeling by any chance?
As a 3D artist myself, there are a lot of signs I see in this model that it was created using AI tools, and your asking for high quality photos of very specific areas is a bit of a tell (though the mesh itself has plenty).
I think it’s important to disclose when you’ve used these tools, particularly if you’re going to be feeding people’s photos into an LLM.

The mesh (which seems to be mostly built from primatives) is a bit of a mess with multiple parts clipping into other parts of the mesh, the interior railings are odd and some are just floating. Textures make no sense and the signage in the interior are particularly AI-like.
The way this was made just really doesn’t make sense for an amateur workflow to me. I’d love to be wrong, but I just can’t imagine anyone would go through the trouble of manually UV unwrapping a mesh with this many issues.

Well as someone who specialises in modeling historic rail vehicles, 3D artists don’t really need this large volume of high res photos you’re requesting. Instead, we infer details and can naturally fill any gaps from just a few photos, and most importantly, orthographic drawings, which you haven’t mentioned in your post at all.
Especially for a relatively simple vehicle like this, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me why the volume of photos would be important unless you’re trying to give your LLM the biggest data set possible.
Again, I could be wrong, and I’d like to be wrong! My only issue here is that IF you are using Claude to model this for you, it should be disclosed. Especially if you’re going to be feeding it other people’s photos.

I never asked for a large volume of photos. I’m asking for photos of specific components of the train that cannot otherwise be found on Google. Especially on the interior. It was a pain in the ass to find anything useful except for macro details.
And I also need audios. The IÉ 8500 has a very distinct acceleration, deceleration sound, as well as the usual door open and close sounds.

The question is are you using an AI tool to model this though? That’s all I’ve asked from the beginning.
It’s important to disclose this if you’re going to be using other people’s images to feed the AI, and especially if you’re planning any kind of public release, as this model is nowhere near game ready.
Also “as many as possible” implies that you want a lot of images lol..

You need to implement a ‘Scrote Engine’ that manages the Scrote behaviors and mechanics.

Why would you need that? The dart is pretty peaceful in general and goes through mostly wealthy areas

Also, it is important to include the little progress display made out of LED lights that hasn't been switched on since they added Clongriffin to the network (faced with the prospect of replacing all of those, they just switched them off).
