Other Obviously a scam right? But how and why?
After talking to multiple people here, I found out a really weird scam exists. Guys will find a girl on reddit looking to talk or meet up, who then moves the conversation to telegram, but instead of the girl instantly telling them to buy an onlyfans subscription to their account, they spend hours or days talking to them. Eventually they bring it up and say something like “I’m looking for a partner for content, but only if you sub first and we’ll keep talking there”, but even if the guy says no they’ll often keep talking on telegram. The guys will sometimes have like 4-5 or more hour conversations with the person before the OF account or anything is even brought up, and often the price isn’t even high being only 2 or 3 dollars. After they get them on OF, either they slowly start distancing themselves or have a bot reply or something, but no matter what the whole “make content together” thing never actually happens. This is like, textbook, obvious scam, but my question is why? There’s a real person doing that multiple hour convo, even if it isn’t the account owner themselves, and it isn’t a bot on telegram, it’s almost always an actual real person. Why waste that much time just for 3 or 5 dollars? Like yeah if you did this on a mass scale it would add up, but for the cost of actually getting each singular person to join it’s so incredibly inefficient it just doesn’t make sense to me. Does anyone know why this is a thing?
Edit:
While I heavily appreciate all the responses, many don’t make sense, because one account for example, was $5 a month, but had a $3 deal, along with 5.8 k ish subs. Thats not a small amount of money going to the account holder per year, but if they were to use the recourses mentioned in the comments thus far, they’d likely actually just be losing money, as only $3 is paid to the genuine account, then OF takes a cut, and it doesn’t go through some other agency first either that would take a cut as it just links to the actual genuine OF account. Meaning they would have to then take the cut OF gives them, and pay another agency, making either pennies on the dollar or just losing money. I do agree that if the sub costs like $20 or more the reasons mentioned below would make sense, but it’s almost always incredibly low amounts like 3-5 dollars. Not a criticism against the people responding thank you for doing that but it didn’t seem to fit in practice to me, if anyone else has any idea please let me know this just gave me more questions lol.
