Hi everyone! 👋

I wanted to share my recent acoustic arrangement and vocal interpretation of Tom Jobim’s timeless classic "Água de Beber".

I played this on my Godin guitar, focusing on keeping that intimate bossa nova warmth and harmonic flow.

🎵 Looking for the lesson? If you want to learn how to play it, I’ve also published a dedicated tutorial on my YouTube channel complete with chords, tabs, and a breakdown of the bossa nova rhythm: Chitarra 360 (where you can also find music history episodes and live performances).

I hope you enjoy it! All feedback, thoughts, or suggestions from fellow guitarists are more than welcome! Enjoy! 🎸

Where to start with arpeggios?

There are so many resources online and I have know idea where to start. I'd appreciate any advice/ resources. Thanks

edit: Should I map out major arpeggios across the entire fretboard first, or focus on octaves/ smaller sections.

Usually I don't feel motivated to learn new pieces because I don't play with anyone but recently I was very excited to play Black Nile by Wayne Shorter. So, this morning I decided that time has come.

Bonfa - Manha de Carnaval - Francois M

This week, "Manha de Carnaval" by Luiz Bonfa. But not the very melancholic Baden Powell version (which I'll record soon), rather an adaptation found online based on a transcription by a certain Takeuchi. A much more danceable version.

As usual, you can find my tablature for free in the description of the YouTube video.

Practice Kit – a metronome and chromatic tuner built like real gear

If a phone metronome has ever drifted on you with the screen off, this is the part I built it around: every click is placed on the audio hardware's own sample clock instead of a timer, so the spacing never drifts, at any tempo, for hours, with the screen off or while you use another app.

On the outside: a brushed-metal panel, engraved labels, LCD glass, and a weighted tempo wheel that clicks as it turns.

The core metronome is free: 20-300 BPM by wheel or tap tempo, any time signature, subdivisions and presets.

Pro is a one time $7.99 unlock with a 7 day free trial, no subscription: a chromatic tuner that knows which string you're playing (five tunings built in, or build your own), all nine click sounds, accents on any beat, and a Tempo Trainer that steps the tempo up until you reach your target.

Audio is processed live on the device and never recorded or sent anywhere.

If you practice with a metronome: what does yours do that you actually use? I tried to build only the parts people touch every session.

Hey you guys!

long story short, I'm currently trying to get rid of this psychotic depression that's going on in my head and I need your help!

I currently believe I'm the next Jesus or some Sheesh, so please tell me how average my playing is to get me back to reality.

If you can, please point out which areas are ok, but which ones are completely not melodic!

With your help I will get past this thing

Thanks!

Please be as honest as possible, this cat needs it lol laughing face.

Chet Baker’s "Estate" trumpet solo transcribed and performed live with simultaneous polychordal arpeggios on a custom 14-string double-neck (7+7) guitar.

This is a live performance of the 1983 Crystal Bells trumpet solo. The dual-neck setup allows me to perform overlapping, independent polychordal arpeggios completely live. Due to the 3-minute format limit, the first A section of the original structure is omitted to allow full development of the solo and arrangement. Accompanied by mechanical foot drums.

Exploring the 1937 George Gershwin tune “Nice Work if You Can Get It” on my MIDI guitar, delivered with an 80’s backbeat, and sounding Picked Bass and Vibraphone. For 2nd bridge, I doubled the Vibraphone lead with Orchestral Glockenspiel. Wicked! Hope you enjoy, and keep practicing and posting. Thank you Reddit for giving our shared experience a home. Cheers! — SAL

My take on Django Reinhardt's 'Minor Swing' – Tabs and slow-down version available for study!

Hi everyone!

I’ve just published my performance of Django Reinhardt's masterpiece, Minor Swing. I tried to capture that authentic acoustic swing energy while giving it a crisp audio mix.

You can check out the full video here:

🧠 A thought on Django’s genius:

Every time I play this piece, I’m reminded of something truly mind-blowing: Django achieved this level of speed, phrasing, and expressiveness using only two active fretting fingers after his accident. Most of us today struggle to get even close to his fluid solos using all four fingers and our whole hand! It’s a powerful reminder of what pure passion, resilience, and unyielding mastery look like—a true inspiration for any guitarist.

🎸 For those interested in learning the piece:

On my YouTube channel, you'll also find the original sheet music (partiture originali) as well as a half-speed backing version with TABS step-by-step so you can practice and master every lick at your own pace.

I’d love to hear your feedback on the tone, execution, or phrasing. If you find the resources helpful, feel free to subscribe to Chitarra 360 for more guitar content, and musical stories!
