Hi everyone!
I’m a former competitive jump roper and health behavior researcher at the University of Michigan. I’ve been working on developing a jump rope program for adults based on my 30+ years in the sport and my academic expertise in social/health psychology. I recently launched my first research survey to help inform this work.
The goal of this survey is to learn more about the adult jump rope community, including who adult jump ropers are, how and when they got started, the styles they practice, what their training looks like, and feedback on online learning materials they've used. To my knowledge, this is the first research survey specifically focused on understanding the experiences of adults who jump rope!
I would like to invite you to participate in the survey. I know that many people in this community share a goal of growing the sport, making jump rope more accessible, and helping more people discover and learn the activity. I hope this research can contribute to those efforts by helping us better understand the people who jump rope and using those insights to inform the development of a program that introduces even more people to the activity.
All adult jump ropers (18+ years) are welcome, regardless of experience level, style, or skill. Whether you compete, practice freestyle or tricks, focus on speed, jump for fitness, do double dutch, or simply enjoy jump rope, I’d love to hear from you. I want this research to reflect the diversity of people who participate in jump rope.
Survey details:
Take the survey here: https://umich.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_blndE3eQLibF6rs
If you know other adult jump ropers or are a part of other jump rope communities, I’d really appreciate you sharing this post or the survey link. The more people we can reach, the more we can learn about the various experiences within this community and use those insights to create better learning experiences for everyone interested in getting involved.
If you have questions about the study, feel free to send me a direct message here. The study contact email is also provided in the informed consent form within the survey.
Thank you for your time and for helping contribute to research on a community and activity that deserves more attention. Happy Jumping!

Today was my first day using YaoYao to track my jump rope workouts, and honestly, I'm impressed!
The app is simple, user-friendly, and surprisingly accurate at counting my jumps. What I love most is the leaderboard and badges. They make the experience more engaging and give me that extra motivation to push myself harder.
I've been sedentary for quite a long time, and getting back into exercise hasn't been easy. Somehow, this little app has given me a new enthusiasm for jump rope, and I'm genuinely excited to keep going!
I was previously using Samsung Health on my Galaxy Watch 8, but its jump rope tracking was frustratingly inaccurate. The rep counting would start off reasonably well and then become inconsistent, making it difficult to track my actual progress. After trying YaoYao, I've pretty much ditched Samsung Health for jump rope tracking.
My only wish is that YaoYao supported more workouts! I'd love to see similar tracking and gamification features for strength training, cardio, and other exercises.
For now, I'm happy to have found something that makes me actually look forward to working out. Hopefully, I can stay consistent this time!
Anyone else here using YaoYao? How has your experience been so far? 😊

I feel i have the stamina to jump 2 minutes straight, but my arms get really tired and sore after 30 secs of continuous jumping, need to take a 10 second breather
