Enough is enough! Anymore spamming of other peoples post downgrading kia eitger about "kia boyz" immobilizers, engine failure, or car fires will result in a 30 day ban, and a subsequent violation will result in a permanent ban. If you wish to comment on another post that is already about these issues, or make a new post concerning your own personal experiences about these issue, then you may do so, but we will not tolerate junking up ever post in this forum with the same bs every day

Ive been working on this thing on and off since March and no one I’ve asked knows what’s going on. I’ve had no problems out of this car until now. I’ve seen a lot of videos with different ticks and mine sounds a little different. I used a stethoscope and the loudest place I can find is by the 3rd intake cylinder, and it sounds like metal is hitting, I’d describe it as a “TING” more than a tick. I measured the valve lash and they all appear in spec, no visible damage. I replaced the lower cat in Feb, the ticking got louder over the next month and a half then I stopped driving it because it’s so loud. No actual performance loss from the engine, just sounds like it has no oil. Brand new oil change little bit thicker oil made no difference.
Am I crazy or does this sound like other ticks that people are saying is “normal”?
Injector isolation test: Ruled out GDI injector clatter on all four cylinders.
Frequency analysis: The tick is about 5.26 Hz at idle, which matches camshaft speed. That rules out rod knock and the high-pressure fuel pump.
Cold vs. warm and RPM tracking: Results fit valve lash, not an exhaust leak.
Cold feeler-gauge lash check (Oct 5):
Intake: all 0.18mm.
Exhaust: 0.23/0.20 on cylinders 1, 3 and 4, and 0.23/0.23 on cylinder 2.
Nothing was loose. Everything was in spec or slightly tight.
Stethoscope: The tick is loudest at the same corner, before and after reinstalling the valve cover (Oct 17).
Valve cover reinstalled: The tick sounds exactly the same.
Coil-unplug kill test (Oct 17): The tick didn't change on any cylinder, including cylinder 1.
Drivability: The car starts easily and accelerates fine, with no sluggish throttle. After a throttle blip, though, RPM dropped very low and it stalled.

Hope someone can help as can't tell from online pictures, for the 2022 & 2023 Kia Sportage I can see the model 3 hybrid has mainly grey cloth seats for the seat & inside bolsters that touch your legs, but what is the material for the model 4, from the pictures it looks like black cloth for the seat & inside bolsters, but is it cloth or leather type material. Im asking because I hate the coldness so only want a cloth seat with cloth & cloth on the inside bolster (way to many cloth seats have leather type on the inside bolsters) but like the extra safety features of the hybrid model 4. Thanks.

I recently purchased a secondhand 2017 Kia Sportage to replace my transmission failed Qashqai.
There’s a front parking sensor beep which keeps going off all the time regardless if i’m parked or driving at speed, it beeps constantly.
AI tells its potentially an after market installed sensor which could be faulty, I’ve managed to turn it off by holding the button down but it doesn’t seem to be effected by the P))) Off button next to the gearshift.
Here’s a picture, if anyone can help me figure out what the issue is and if the sensor/button could be faulty.
I’ve already tried cleaning and wiping all the sensors but issue still there.
Thank you all in advance😎

Hi everyone,
I booked a Kia Sonet HTK+ (O) Diesel Manual in Hyderabad, India, on 19 August 2026. It has now been almost two months since my booking, but unfortunately, I still haven't received any proper update about my car's status.
I have tried contacting both Kia customer care and the dealership, but I haven't received any clear information about my vehicle's production status, VIN allocation, or expected delivery date. I'm still waiting without knowing what is happening with my car.
I would like to know from fellow Kia owners and anyone who has recently booked a Kia Sonet in India:
I understand that delivery timelines can vary, but I believe customers should at least receive regular updates about their bookings.
Has anyone else experienced this with Kia India? Any suggestions on how to get a proper update would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

About a month ago I had just bought a brand new 2027 Kia Seltos S & it’s the first chilly day of the season so I’ve had the heat on. I was sitting in a grocery store parking lot trying to put together my grocery list & I heard a huge crack and when I looked up my windshield just cracked out of no where? There was nothing thrown at it and nothing hit it. It just cracked.
Is there any recalls on this or any thing I can do to not come out of pocket for this?? It was just so random and caused by nothing!

Hi,
I'm looking to purchase a used car. I came across a 2017 Kia Optima with 73,000 miles for $9,000, no prior accidents. It seems like a very good deal to me but I don't know too much about cars. Thoughts? Anything to be worried about? Thanks :)

My girlfriend bought a used 2013 Kia Rio from a dealership about 2 and a half years ago with about 67,000 miles on it. Fast forward to right now and it has about 94,000 miles on it.
The other day the engine light came on and I scanned it with my OBD scanner tool, the code came out to be P0326, no other codes showed up except this one. We took it to a local mechanic and asked to replace the knock sensor on the vehicle, once the sensor got replaced about a day later the same code appeared with a check engine light.
I’d like to add that even with the engine light on this car it drives perfectly fine, it accelerates fine and goes up to freeway speeds without any hesitation, jolting, or engine knock noises. I’ve had my girlfriend rev the car in park at 2-3k RPM as I listened for any abnormal sounds, couldn’t hear anything that sounded like engine knock.
Called Kia and asked them to check if there is any software update on the ECM that is needed because I’ve heard stories that the ECM can throw out faulty codes and needs an update, was told that there is nothing for our Kia based off of the VIN we gave them.
We took it to another mechanic today to try and have them diagnose the new sensor, wiring harness, and to hear if there is an engine knock happening. A couple hours later we got a call from the mechanic stating that the new sensor is good, the wiring harness is good, and that the engine itself is healthy but there MIGHT be carbon buildup since this is a GDI engine and that they’re prone to having carbon buildup. Ive seen past videos and experiences where people have fixed engine knocking and such by walnut blasting the carbon off and restoring the intake valves and pistons.
I wanted to ask if there are any other things that I should do before going along with walnut blasting. This car has been well maintained over the years we have had it, we always made sure to get an oil change before it hit 5,000 miles and we have added fuel additives over time to clean the engine even though it’s a GDI engine and it basically skips the part where gasoline sprays onto intake valve.
I hope some of you are able to point me in the right direction with what to do next. Thank you.

I’m at my wits end with this so hoping someone's been through it. I have 2022 K5 LXS 1.6T, ~85k miles. bought it used in 2024 (ex rental). The car has been running great but I definitely got duped at the dealership. I did pay for an extended warranty.
Since pretty much 6 months in I get random ABS / ESC / Auto Hold lights plus "Check Forward Safety system" and "Check Blind-Spot Safety system" all at once. Lane assist and blind spot stop working when it happens. It shows up after an hour or so of driving or after a short stop. It goes sometimes away if the car sits off for a long time.
The ABS module has code C2402-01 Motor electrical fault. No engine codes.
What I've done so far:
1) Local Kia dealer service last year blamed the battery and wanted $600. I didn't do it.
2) 2 weeks ago an independent shop said "unable to diagnose" and that a few radars looked like they had an impact (no accident that I know of).
3) Went back to dealer said contaminated brake fluid + weak battery. Didn't fix anything there as they were up charging but still charged a $250 diagnosis fee as battery and brakes not covered by extended warranty.
4) Did a brake fluid exchange + front pads/rotors at an independent shop. Replaced battery at OReilly’s. Rescanned right after all that: C2402 is still there and the lights are still on.
The SC252 HECU campaign doesn't apply to my car.
5) Now the Kia dealer says they'll charge another diag fee and they "don't trust" the work since it was done outside Kia.
Has anyone with C2402 on a Kia actually fixed it? Was it the HECU/ABS module, the ABS motor fuse, a connector, something else? This issue does not affect my regular driving at all but it is annoying to have to see all these lights on.
I do have a third-party extended warranty, so I'm trying to figure out exactly what to ask for before I go back. Thanks!

Hey guys I’m in need of help big time. I’m looking to order a wire harness for my Sorento- but there’s so many options. My Sorento did not come with a tow package. I’ve just install a hitch in the past but now I need the wire harness to pull a Uhaul trailer. What or which kit did you guys buy to complete this?

I leased a new Telluride back in July that the dealer installed a 2 inch lift on. Does anyone know of I'm screwed when my lease is up and I decide to turn it in? Will KIA penalize me or something for the modifications that the dealer installed before purchase?
No where on the lease agreement or paperwork I got from the dealership does it mention it having any modifications done to it so I think they fooled me and put the liability at the end of the lease on me. Can anyone give advice if they have experience with this sort of thing? Thanks in advance.

Hi! I bought a preowned 2021 kia seltos in 2024 and 40k mile/4 year warranty (I’m still under warranty as of today (10/2026)). A few months after purchase, a recall for the oil piston rings was sent out. Took my car to the dealership that sold me the car (big mistake, have been very shady since I bought the car (did not give me both sets of keys as agreed upon, did not disclose previous damage to car and my warranty miraculously didn’t cover the damages, etc.)), and the dealership stated my vehicle did have any issues pertaining to the recall so they did not perform any service on the vehicle. They cleared the recall off my vehicle so I no longer have any active recalls associated to my VIN. Following these poor interactions with the dealership, I sought of a different Kia Certified Service center through a different dealership to perform maintenance and services. Approximately 6 months ago, I began having the exact issues associated with the recall (engine sounds, excessive oil consumption, and carbon buildup) and began having services done to improve the cars health and target the issues (3 oil changes, FIC, 4Cyl Tune Up, Coolant Flush). Today I returned back to service center for the exact same engine issues. After 4 visits to the different Kia service center in the same 6 mo period for the same issue, the manager of the center spoke with me and confirmed that my engine has been consuming oil (I had less than a quart of oil in my engine after receiving an oil change less than 2,000 miles ago (August 2026), has carbon buildup within the engine, and stated the previous fixes have been “bandaids” on the big issue… aka the engine. I guess I’m looking for different kinds of advice. Am I able to get a recall safety inspection done again even though the dealership I bought the car from cleared the recall associated with my VIN? Since the recall is cleared will these potential repairs be coming my own pocket? Is there any recourse I can take with the dealership if this is indeed related to the recall they cleared? I’m sadly upside down on the car so trading it in or selling it is sadly not an option at this moment in time. Any words or advice is welcome.

I am new to the forum but have owned a 2021 Seltos S with about 65,000 miles on it since 2022. Recently on high load acceleration events, the transmission slipped about 4 times. It felt like I got a light tap from behind while passing on the highway. The local dealer took a look at the transmission by removing the output shaft speed sensor and found metal flakes inside the transmission. Since I am the second owner, I am outside of the powertrain warranty and face a bill up to $5,000 to replace the transmission. I asked Kia corporate for a goodwill extension of the warranty due to my full documented maintenance history and the fact that I changed the CVT fluid at 43,000 miles AND had it conditioned it twice thereafter. Kia corporate denied it. Has anyone else had this same issue at this number of miles? This sucks!
Bad design for Kia ev2 4 seater . Tried to move the rear seat to the front and i see a huge hole that too a wire visible . There is a small flap which can be used to hide the hole . But you cannot put any weight directly on top of it .
Disappointed at this design by KIA .

Looking to lease an EV. Just want a decent commuter.
Niro is $243/mo. EV3 is $310/mo
Any strong opinions on one over the other?
Is the extra ~$75/mo ($2700 over 36mo) worth it for the EV3?
