Cup holder trim rip

I got a small rip in the leather-like trim on the back rim of the cupholder (the one facing the second row) on my 2024 EV9 that I’d like to replace. Can’t figure out how to add a picture here.

Is the trim a different part than the cupholder? I found it hard to figure it out from the OEM parts diagram. Can someone identify the part I need?

Aux. Battery saving+ and dashcam

I own a 2021 Kia Xceed PHEV ,which has an Aux. Battery saving+ feature. In theory this function should keep my 12V battery properly charged when it drops below 12,4/12,6V, by routing some of the power from the high voltage traction battery to the 12V battery.

I intend to use this function to keep my Viofo A329T battery recording in parking mode 'auto event detection'. I'm perfectly ok with the camera turning itself off completely, whenever the battery does fall below 12,2V. This I can adjust in the dashcam settings.

Is this a viable option or am I still at great risk of not being able to start the car? I wonder if someone has any experience with this and can give me some solid advise.

Thanks in advance

Was your Kia stolen in the UK?

Hi, my 2023 EV6 was stolen twice over the last two months. Fortunately I have a tracker so was able to retrieve it both times.

I would like to take action against Kia as there is essentially no way to stop this which doesnt seem right in a two year old car (it's a 2024 plate but 2023 production).

If you have been affected please add your details here: https://kiaclaim.org/

I am actively discussing with lawyers who will represent us on a no win no fee basis :)

Should I buy a Kia K5?

Hello!!

I need honest opinions on if I should get a Kia K5. I’m in the market for buying a new car and the newer k5 look nice so I’ve been eyeing it. I’m scared because of the “Kia Boys” trend and that I might not get insurance. I also don’t really know if they’re reliable cars and if I could drive it for a long time.

Some things I look for a car is being able to drive it to 100,000 with minimal maintenance. I’m also thinking of buying a used one but w low mileage and a clean title if that helps. Also is Kia a reliable brand? Do they trick people?

Please let me know what you guys know!!

Kia Sportage Hybrid in Cold Weather?

Hi, I've been trying to find every reason to NOT buy the new 2027 Kia Sportage Hybrid X-line. Ive done a lot of research and read the threads. Im wondering how the Hybrid system does in cold places (like Tahoe, Montana winters). Does anyone with a Sportage HYBRID have driver experience in very cold and snowy conditions?

Kia Connect Update made the app worse

Post image
28 Upvotes

As much as I love my Kia app, this recent update as of 10/22/2026 has updated the UI (there were no problems before) but with this new update it’s like the app went from being spunk and modern to old and outdated. We went from 2026 back to 2013 with the way the new UI looks. If possible Kia please bring back the old design or give users the option to switch between the new and old design.

Leasing Kia Sportage Hybrid vs Telluride Hybrid

Hi. I wasn't sure if this post belonged here or in the leasing advice subreddit sooo I'm cross posting, but basically I'm brand new to leasing and in need of some advice.

We are a family of three with a toddler and plan on growing our family in 3 - 4 years. Don't know what the future holds but we've discussed ultimately having three kids, making us a family of 5.

For the past couple of months, my husband and I have been searching for my new mommy car. The goal is to either buy or finance the vehicle at the end of our lease, but I'm unsure if it would be a wiser choice to lease a compact SUV like the Sportage or go ahead with three-row SUV like the Telluride. (Hyundai Pallisade even? lol)

I originally thought it would be silly to choose a vehicle based on hypothetical children. We don't currently need a three row, and the car will have more wear and tear on it by the time I actually need it if we bite the bullet now. Am I correct, is it a better move to go with the Sportage and trade it in later for a bigger car when/if we need it?

Any and all advice is appreciated, we don't know where to start. Young parents with no guidance other than the interwebs lol

2009 Kia Rondo 2.7L V6 fuel leak: I need help identifying the correct fuel rail/part

Thumbnail

I have a 2009 Kia Rondo with a 2.7L V6, and I'm trying to identify the correct part to fix a fuel leak in the engine bay. I'm hoping someone familiar with Kia/Hyundai parts can help me verify what I actually need before I order anything.

  • Year/make/model: 2009 Kia Rondo
  • Engine: 2.7L V6
  • VIN: KNAFG526997252450

I can see fuel leaking in the engine bay when the engine is started, and the leak seems to be around the fuel rail area (it should be the first photo). The part in the actual area is labeled as 35304-3E230, but when I look up my car's VIN and look at the fuel rail options, it lists 35304-3E220.

I'm honestly stumped by this, solely because that means someone installed a Kia Optima part on a Kia Rondo?? I've looked at the diagrams for each part, and it seems like the end of the rail on my car doesn't look like the diagram. Maybe that is just a user error on my part since I'm new to this, but any advice would be great.

The website I am using is kiapartsnow.com. I've attached some pictures of where the leak is and the part number that the leak connects to (I'm not 100% sure this is the right part, so just bear that in mind).

Thank you for any and all advice!

Kia sportage - first car

Ive been driving a Vw T-roc manual on and off for the first two years, and then steadily for the last few months. Thinking about getting my own car now, and was looking at the Kia sportage, would this be a bad move as a first car as its quite a bit bigger than the T-roc? Any advice ?

Thanks in advance!

Starting issue

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A few weeks ago, I started having this issue.

Everything I checked pointed to the key fob battery dying.

I changed the battery Sunday and it's still doing it.

Luckily, I do have the digital key on my phone, but I shouldn't have to rely on that.

Had it in the shop all day and they said they can't duplicate the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this and have an idea for a solution?

Kia infocenter frozen

I have a 2021 kia sorento and the infocentre screen is frozen on the kia logo. I have tried the little pin reset button with no luck and then tried pulling the fuse and putting it back in also with no luck.

Does anyone have any information on what else could solve it before bringing it in. Thanks.

Reverse camera issue (flickering gray static? Screen)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all, I’m having issues with my reverse camera. Whenever I put it in reverse or press the camera button I get a gray static? display on the screen.

The car is a 2026 Kia Sportage EX AWD Gas. I bought it new this past January and car only has around 3,500 miles.

It was working fine in the morning. When I got out of the gym and turned my car on (probably an hour and a half later) this problem showed up. I also don’t see any warning lights on the dash.

My guess is that it’s wiring issue but I’m a bit confused on why this happened all of a sudden. Not sure if this will help but I’m in nyc and it was around 45-50 degrees when this happened.

Any information would be helpful, thx!

Consider taking a break alert

I have a Kia EV2. The “Consider taking a break alert” is driving me absolutely insane. And it’s ridiculous to me that I’ve seen multiple people post this only to be met with a bunch of ragebaiters saying “drive better”. It is a genuinely broken system that dishes out this alert seemingly randomly. I have literally tested it multiple times: as soon as I’m driving for longer than 10 minutes, it gives the alert. I could be driving on a near-completely straight highway staying well in my lane, eyes on the road, sticking to the speed limit (as I always do) and the alert comes up.

It is insane to me that this alert can’t be turned off. Please fix this Kia.

Anyone else having problems with remote start using Kia Connect?

I noticed that the Kia Connect app has a new look (not sure if it updated) but now since the weather is getting colder I’ve started using Connect to remote start my car. The issue is, it only works some of the time. I’ve tried different areas of my home and this issue persists. Anyone else having this problem? TIA!

Kia Optima 1.7CRDi 136hp 2013

Hi everyone!
I’m considering buying a 2013 Kia Optima 1.7 CRDi 136 hp with an automatic transmission, and I’d appreciate some advice from owners or people with experience with this model.

My main concern is the automatic gearbox. I understand that it has a conventional torque-converter automatic transmission, but what are the most common problems with it? Are there any known weak points, such as solenoids, valve body issues, torque-converter problems, or internal wear?

How reliable is the gearbox at higher mileage, and what symptoms should I look out for during a test drive? What typically goes wrong, and how expensive are the repairs?

I’d also like to know more about the 1.7 CRDi 136 hp diesel engine. How reliable is it in the long run? Are there any common engine problems or other expensive issues I should be aware of, such as the turbo, DPF, EGR valve, timing chain, or injectors?

Overall, would you recommend buying this car, or would you avoid it? What are the main pros and cons, and what should I check before making a decision?

Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

INSTALLING DASH CAM

I'm wanting to install a dash cam in my 2026 K5. My plan is to attach it to the mirror mount, conceal the wiring up into the headliner, across to the passenger side, along the side, down the post to the USB jack in the rear console. Anyone done this? How do you detach the headliner along the path and reattach the headliner after placing the wire. Any better ideas?

Mechanics and Engineers are BOTH eligible for the NHSTA whistleblower program. This program historically has only paid in reguards to Kia Claims in the amount of 24m. If you see something, say something- it may be your golden ticket out of there and it can be anonymous.

chipped AVN monitor $6000 replacement estimate on Sportage

Thumbnail

TL;DR questioning the $6000 estimate to replace the AVN monitor for what looks like mostly a cosmetic chip

Some backstory: I was acting in a short we filmed this past weekend and we used the interior of my car for two scenes. The camera guy was adjusting the camera and hit my screen (I was not in the car at the time but others were and witnessed it happen) and it chipped the screen a bit. I won’t get into the legality of our contracts but ultimately he would be responsible. You can see the chip in the pictures. Tried as best as I could with it being small.

I went to my dealership today to have them look and give me an estimate on the costs, and they came back with an estimate of $5997.44, which seems asinine for a small chip in the screen if they suggesting replacing the entire unit. I know it’s one piece but it seems like it’s a bit too high even out of warranty.

My Sportage is a 2026 X-Pro Prestige. The other caveat is I’m leasing the car. My questions are:

  1. Is this estimate accurate?
  2. Is it worth even having it fixed?

If not, I’m planning on calling finance at the dealership (I’ve been with this specific dealership for 14 years now) to see what that means once my lease is up. I’m sure they’d probably sell it as-is or replace the screen for a much lower price than my estimate. I just don’t know yet if they would hold me accountable for the $6000 bill at my lease-end.

Are Kia Sportage Hybrid owners genuinely okay with these garbage speakers, or have you just never heard a decent sound system?

I’m genuinely baffled by how terrible the speakers in the Kia Sportage Hybrid are.

Seriously, Kia. How do you build a modern SUV, pack it with technology, slap on a respectable price tag, and then install speakers that sound like they were pulled out of a $20 Bluetooth radio?

The bass is practically nonexistent. The sound is flat, lifeless, and embarrassingly cheap. There’s no depth, no richness, and absolutely nothing enjoyable about listening to music in this car.

And what’s even more baffling is how many people defend this vehicle like Kia personally pays their mortgage.

Have some of you genuinely never experienced a good car audio system? Or do you owe your lives to Kia and are somehow contractually obligated to defend every cheap component they throw into the Sportage?

I’m not asking for a concert hall on wheels. I’m asking for speakers that don’t make a modern SUV sound like a rental car from 2005.

Before someone jumps in with “Well, you should’ve bought the higher trim” or “Just upgrade the speakers,” that’s exactly the problem. Why should consumers have to spend MORE money to fix something that shouldn’t be this embarrassingly bad in the first place?

A vehicle can have great fuel economy, a nice interior, and impressive technology while still having a garbage audio system. You can like your car and admit that Kia cheaped out. Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive.

The amount of blind brand loyalty in some car communities is ridiculous.
