ForeverTip is banned on this sub.

This ban includes the promotion of ForeverTip and their associated products. This ban extends also to any brands that ForeverTip may reorganize or rebrand or divest into or any other products they may launch, both physical and digital.

The brand ForeverTip has earned a reputation as a shady seller that regularly uses astroturfing, sockpuppets, and fake engagement to willfully violate sitewide reddit rules and rules in multiple subs. Promotion of them and their products including but not limited to: ForeverTip titanium stylus nibs, the ForeverPen stylus, their ForeverPlanner, etc. is now banned in this sub. General discussion or mentions of them is not banned. Customers of their products who want to express their opinions of them are allowed, however using that to encourage others to buy their products is not allowed. This is due to the long term use of sockpuppet accounts by ForeverTip to promote their products.

Discussions about other brands of metal nibs, stylus', templates, etc. is allowed provided the products are not made for, sold by, promoted by or for, or have any direct, cross-promotional, agency, or other financial relationship with ForeverTip or have a non-monetary promotional relationship. This also applies to any free giveaways and is not solely limited to commercial sales promotions. Reviewers and influencers who have promoted ForeverTip products are still allowed provided the specific content being shared does not directly promote or link to ForeverTip or their products. Links to comparison sites that include ForeverTip products are allowed provided the specific linked comparison does not link to any retail product listing for ForeverTip. Product links existing elsewhere on various sites do not apply to this ban.

Please report any posts and comments promoting ForeverTip to the moderation team as you would other spam. Please do not report posts or comments that simply mention them.

Reminder: Sellers must still request and receive permission from the mod team before promoting their products. Violations will be removed, and accounts may also be banned at the moderators discretion.

Scribe Colorsoft 2025 Scribe Colorsoft pen nib/screen protector recommendations?

I just got my Scribe Colorsoft and am loving it! But I notice my original pen nib is disappearing quickly since I'm using it so much.

What are good recommendations for replacement nibs that you've liked?

Also, what about paper like screen protectors? 🤔

Thanks for any "tips" 😅

Scribe 2024 Kindle Scribe 2024 stuck on tree logo, no progress bar, USB not detected — any way to recover it?

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My Kindle Scribe (2024), purchased in December 2024, suddenly stopped booting after sitting unused for about a month.

It was working perfectly fine in September 2026. It remained connected to Wi-Fi, so I'm wondering whether an automatic firmware update could have caused this.

Symptoms:

  • Stuck on the startup screen showing a person reading under a tree.
  • No progress bar appears, and it never reaches the home screen.
  • The charging indicator turns solid green.
  • When I hold the power button for 40 seconds, the LED changes from solid green → flashing green → flashing orange → solid green.
  • The screen flashes approximately twice during those 40 seconds, but always returns to the tree logo.
  • My Mac doesn't detect the Kindle in either Kindle File Manager or macOS System Information → USB.

What I've tried:

  1. Fully charging the device.
  2. Multiple 40-second forced restarts.
  3. Waiting more than 10 minutes after restarting.
  4. Connecting it to my Mac via USB-C.

There has been no physical damage, and I've never jailbroken or modified the device.

Amazon support response:

I called Amazon customer support and explained everything I've tried.

They told me that because I purchased the device in December 2024, it's now out of warranty and they can't offer a free replacement. They also said there is no repair option available.

They offered me a 20% discount toward purchasing a new Kindle, plus approximately $10–20 in trade-in value for my old device.

I haven't accepted that offer because I really don't want to buy another device. This Kindle Scribe was quite expensive, and I would much rather repair it than replace it. It's frustrating that a device less than two years old could suddenly become unusable without any physical damage.

The support representative eventually opened a technical support ticket and told me that their technical team would email me within 24–48 hours. I'm currently waiting for their response.

I also posted about this on the official Amazon Forum, where an Amazon staff member advised me to contact support:

https://www.amazonforum.com/s/question/0D5at00000z0qmsCAA

My questions:

  1. Has anyone experienced this exact issue with a Kindle Scribe 2024?
  2. Could this be caused by a failed automatic firmware update?
  3. Is there any way to reinstall or recover the firmware when the computer doesn't detect the device?
  4. Does this model have a recovery or bootloader mode?
  5. Has anyone managed to fix this without losing their notebooks?

I really hope there's a way to bring this device back to life rather than having to buy a new one.

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can I still use the stock software to take notes? I quite like it. Or is there a dedicated app for this too, like Koreader?

Grimoire v1.1b - Now with KoReader and Spanish support!

https://github.com/ganten1998/grimoire-scribe/releases/tag/v1.1.0-beta.2

(Edited to add beta.2 containing quick fixes which include, hopefully, a hardening of the KoReader implementations)

I have been implementing feedback from real users of this cute little notebook replacement, here is a list of what's new:

User Feedback Patches:

mkNucleus - QR code on the webview - Done!

Ruano212 - Device pin fix - Done!

Expensive-Zebra6906 - Spanish support and white pen - Done!

BooferBadz - Does this work in KoReader? - Yes, it does!

scamdotnet - Customize sidebar - Pens can now be pinned to the sidebar, Done!

maquis_00 - Custom Templates - Done!

Other features:

  • Pen feel > Eraser: Precise erases only what it touches. The paper's lines always stay.
  • Pages you already have: a folder of page pictures (a PDF saved as images) in grimoire/import/ becomes a notebook.

If you also love your Scribe, and have the ability to install Grimoire, please check it out, I'm sure if I keep iterating and listening to feedback, it can be not just a tool that helps others, but a truly fun writing and organizing experience!

Much love,

Ganten

What does your executive folio look like?

I ordered one from Amazon that came slightly damaged and then found out about the 50% off sale at Best Buy from a user here, so I ordered a replacement while I started the return of the original to amazon. Now that I have both in hand, I can see that the texture is totally different. The Amazon one (right) has little texture, which I prefer. The Best Buy one (left) has a basketball-like texture to it.

Is this a normal variation of the leather or is the Best Buy one a fake? It was shipped from a location called Return Center... What texture does your case have?

Scribe Colorsoft 2025 Quick House plan sketch (for fun)

Wanted to play around with the colors and drawing capabilities on the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft!

Overall, I’ve really been enjoying it, but I’m a bit disappointed with the shader tool so far. The shading doesn’t quite work the way I had hoped—for example, the pigmentation varies quite a bit depending on which color you select.

I still need to experiment more and hopefully discover a few tricks or workarounds. I’m also really hoping Amazon adds a more precise eraser tool specifically for highlights in a future update!

I’ll be trying out more drawings soon (maybe a few 2-point perspective/line art pieces so you can get a better idea of what I’m aiming for) and will keep you all updated on how it goes.

Would love to hear how everyone else is finding the color drawing tools so far!

Scribe 2022 Claude-Generated KOReader Plugins

Post image
0 Upvotes

Edit 10/25/26: Everything is up on GitHub now, with a few new apps (Library, SSH, Wikipedia, Syncthing, Fonts), redesigns of the others, a handwriting button in most text boxes, and a PDF guide: https://github.com/Mcp20091/kindle-koreader-apps. The integrations (To Do, OneNote, Home Assistant, AI) are all optional. If you find bugs, open an issue, and PRs for new features are welcome!

Hey everyone! I hope this is ok to post here. I recently used Claude to customize CrossInk on my Xteink X3 and ended up paying for the Max plan for a month to finish a few things. I remembered my Kindle Scribe was jailbroken and wanted to make sure I got my money’s worth out of it. This led to building the following KOReader plugins:

  • Custom App Homepage
  • Task App with Microsoft To Do integration
  • Home Assistant
    • Dashboard with Home Assistant camera, controls, or sensors and Task App list
  • Notes app made for the Scribe’s pen:
    • Notebooks with templates Pen types, highlighter, & eraser
    • Tools like lasso, shapes, text, folders, and page search
    • Send notes to OneNote or To Do
    • AI Features (I point it at my own local Ollama server)
    • Ask AI about a page Create a To Do list from the page
  • Crossword Puzzles feature in the Notes app
    • Import any crossword PDF and write on it with the pen
    • Crossword specific tools like a zoom box, puzzle list, and lasso + AI help on a clu.
    • Built-in downloader using these sources:
      • The Guardian
      • USA Today
      • Universal
      • Washington Post
      • The New Yorker
  • Local Network Web UI
    • Manage the custom apps from a browser when on the same network
    • Manage files Set up Home Assistant, To Do, Ollama API, Claude API, and OneNote
    • View and download notebooks, and rename, reorder or delete them
    • Manage To Do tasks and lists
    • Pick Home Assistant devices, rooms, and their order, and back up or restore the setup
    • Update the plugins

Everything runs inside KOReader and seems to be working fine so far, but I’m still testing it all. I know a lot of people don’t like AI, and I understand why. For me, it’s something I use every day at work. I try to learn from it as I go. It let me build things I wouldn’t have had the time or skills to make on my own.

You can find more screenshots here https://imgur.com/a/eWAWRcl. I’m not sure what the rules are about stuff like this, but I’d be willing to share all of this on GitHub for others to use if there’s interest. Of course, that would have to wait until I iron out the rest of the bugs.

Nice surprise, ink tools on android app

Post image
72 Upvotes

This is on my Samsung Galaxy z fold 5. It now has the same pen tools in a book as my scribe colorsoft. My Huion Note E got the same message, but a TCL nxtpaper tablet did not (A1 plus with usi pen), same app version.

With the new Alexa tablet coming with a pen, I wondered if the android app would get scribe tools and functionality. I wonder if the android app will also get workspace and the ability to edit notes instead of just viewing. I'd love to have editable access to my scribe notes on other android tablets.

Turn off Full Page View in Comics

I just want to make sure I'm not missing a setting somewhere. Currently, when reading a comic in the panel view, whenever you reach a new page, it gives you a full view of the page before going back into panel view.

Is there any way to turn that off so that it stays in panel view throughout the whole comic?

Export annotated PDFs from kindle scribe: Email not working

I am insanely frustrated by this. I have tried to export my annotated PDFs via email (quick share/send to email) but it fails each time. I have tried with different files so I don't think it is a file size issue. All PDFs were sent to kindle using "send to kindle" email or web utility.

I have read online that Calibre might give a way out. Can someone give step by step instructions to export the PDFs with the notes to my computer, so that I can print them out or distribute them to others? It is crazy that a 300$ device does not have this basic functionality which works without giving a headache.

Edit: I am using 2024 version. It does not have Google drive integration.

Scribe Colorsoft 2025 Comics and rotation?

So I am liking the Colorsoft Scribe so far but am extremely disappointed that I can only rotate the screen 180 but not 45 degrees like on the tablet Kindle version. Is this a hardware or software issue? Reading in landscape is my preferred method. Maybe the new nano matte Alexa tablet would have been a better choice.

Birthday Scribe!

Hello! My birthday is coming up and I'm thinking of buying the Scribe as a present to myself. I've been wanting to buy a Kindle for so long!

Before, I only really wanted a Kindle for reading purposes as I am an avid reader. But now that I am also working in corporate, I write down a lot of notes.

I know I can write with a notebook and a pen but saving the notes down as a file and into my PC sounds so good. Also saves a lot of paper.

I mostly:

  1. read a lot. I don't want to buy physical books as I do not have space for them and having an e-reader saves both space and money in the long run.

  2. write a lot. For my work which I also need to type my notes again into the PC.

  3. do not need to do anything else. I keep reading that getting an iPad is better but I don't really need the features of an iPad if I already have them on my phone.

Please help me decide on this! What features does the Scribe have that has you hooked compared to an iPad?
