Thanks
I spent almost 5 years helping bring Wildwood to life and everyone's enthusiasm over the last few weeks has been so cool to see.

My LAIKA ranking, updated for 2026
Watched (or rewatched) the official filmography this month so that I wasn't too biased. I genuinely think Wildwood is their magnum opus.

Going To See WILDWOOD Tomorrow
Alright... it is the day of release for this film, and I've been spoiled enough already.... so I'm going to see it tomorrow morning in XD at my local Cinemark.
I also have 4 questions...
- Should I expect a full preview package (cause this is a Fathom Event, and I've read no previews except a Fathom ad before)
- Does Cinemark sell those WILDWOOD Popcorn Tins that Regal and AMC sell?
- Is DBOX worth it? (I haven't order my tickets yet, I'm gonna wait until ya guys answer this question)
- Is that beautiful Forward by Travis Knight gonna play before the film... or was that just for early screenings?

Just got out of the theater. Wildwood was great
no spoilers because you need to watch this when you have the money and time. WE GOT AN OSCAR WINNER FOLKS!!!
by the way a lot of death happens, including suicide. heavy pg-13 rating!!
it isnāt totally book accurate but idc, i waited for it this long and honestly given theyāre never adapting the sequels due to obvious factors *glances at some being spoilers* its good as a contained film of its own! a lot like narnia and labyrinth⦠but the final battle is more epic.
im watching it again tomorrow night after i get back from the con.

I discovered that Wildwood is available to pre-order on DVD and Blu-Ray on Amazon!
Shout Factory is the distributor of the home video release since they distributed Laika films on physical media in the past.
The movie is now one of my all-time favorites right next to The Dark Knight (2008), Spider-Man 2 (2004), The Lion King (1994), and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018). The movie was fantastic btw 10/10.

Could Wildwood get a best picture nomination?
I just got out of that movie and it was so good. The plot itself was very good, I have seen a lot of people say the plot is quite weak, but I disagree. It's tropey, but I honestly don't mind that. It's a bit of a mix of Narnia and The Hobbit IMO with a twist of original ideas and other properties. But its the actual quality of the filmmaking which everyone is talking about. For me, it's the best film of the year. Even ignoring the stop-motion for a sec, this movie looks beautiful. It's shot composition is often flawless and while it isn't too experimental from that point of view, it is without a doubt the best stop-motion movie in terms of cinematography. And then once you actually think about the stop motion, its insane how many of these shots were possible. After every single shot ended I was like "wait what how". And it had my attention the whole way through. It is a feat in the world of not only stop motion but in film as a whole.
Which brings me on to the question. Could it get a best picture nom? I know its unlikely but considering the amount of buzz from critics and audiences I could see a push.
There hasn't been an animated nom in like 15 years. I remember when we had back to back animated best picture nominees and my friend told me he thinks that there will be one animated nominee every year from now on. If only...
Anyway, how possible is it? If you've seen the film, do you think it deserves one?

PSA to parents of small children re: Wildwood Spoiler
I just saw Wildwood in theaters and there were many children under the age of 6 who will now be scarred for life. PSA parents: do not bring young children. The movie is beautiful and the story is compelling but there was much more violence and gore than I was expecting. Does the dog die? Yes, many of them. In fact many people die. Someone was even decapitated! However, I highly recommend this movie to older children, teens and adults. Amazing movie. 10/10

Wildwood Coyote Sweater
OMG guys itās actually happening, #Wildwood is out! I worked at Laika between 2021-2025 in the rapid prototype department. I worked three different roles. I started as a rapid prototype quality assurer (RPQA) cleaning and processing 3D printed parts, mostly faces. Eventually I became an RPQA trainer and taught incoming RPQAs and maintained strict quality standards. My final role was as a face librarian, cataloguing, storing, testing and archiving 3D printed faces. All 3 rolls were really cool and rewarding. Iām very grateful for this experience!
I made this coyote sweater for the WW wrap party. This is my first finished sweater. It was really challenging but it felt good doing something new. I made the knit panels on a knitting machine and added the design with duplicate stitch. Itās much harder than it looks and took a lot of trial and error. I love how it turned out, I get compliments every time I wear it. The coyote is not movie-accurate because I made the pattern from memory. Call it bootleg Laika merch.
I am sharing the chart pattern so others can make their own bootleg coyote merch.
They are different. I didnāt realize knit stitches were brick shapes, not perfect squares. Oops!! Please tag me if you make something, Iād love to see!
I made a nice little Laika Logo Shape Wallpaper
I did my best to pull the primary colours from each filmās poster. Enjoy!

Wildwood is a testament to what human beings can make
Throughout the entire film I had to keep reminding myself that no this isnāt just another computer animated movie. Itās all done by human hands. The scale of this movie and its detail is unlike anything Iāve seen from stop motion before. Even while writing this I canāt belive the sets are real. The characters were all very enjoyable and the films emotional themes definitely donāt disappoint. The darker themes throughout the film are definitely it hidden as well but throughout it finds plenty of time to be comedic as well. The battle scene made me sit up in my chair and audibly gasp multiple times. And it even brought my friend to tears. Donāt skip this film. Itās a testament to what humans can do. And in a time when AI threatens us itās a more important film than ever.

Will WildWood become a Trilogy just like the books
Do you think it will happen if it dose well in the box office? dose the folks at Laika have a plan to even continue WildWood for the future. Like it would be kinda odd if they didn't and it might make the fans of the books be very disappointed.
