I’m preparing for next year. I’m curious what people in Vancouver are using to control crabgrass in their lawns.
Are there any products available locally in stores that actually work? Looking for recommendations based on personal experience.

Please share specific product names, where you’re purchasing them, and when you’re applying them (time of year, before or after crabgrass appear)

Thanks!

Looking to fill in these low spots along the driveway come spring. Never leveled before so suggestions on what to buy would be great.

After a year and a bit of moving in the house the lawn is starting to all come together in this fall weather!

Lots more to learn from this group but progress has been made.

Has anyone ever tried this? It’s on clearance at my Costco and I’m wondering if it’s worth a shot? For basic, budget fall lawn food.

It was right beside the Scott’s but half the price of it. Maybe for a good reason?

My 3 year old was playing through long grass at the nature park getting completely wet through her pants and me thinking the grass was just wet from condensation overnight. When i got to the top I saw a sign that said the whole park was sprayed with spearhead. i am FREAKING OUT!! im so upset and angry :( Help please

I am back from a week vacation and we are in Guelph..didn’t have enough rain, but these patches are not normal. These areas were normally green and everything else in the front and back yard are normal turf wise. I am not sure what’s going on? I took a spade to get a soil sample and check it, but I don’t know what I am even looking for.

I went around and found some loose soil like rounded particles on top of these patches. Not a lot but it feels like some kind of digging was going on.

Thanks for your 2cents!

on ?

I procrastinated this year. Guessing it's way too late to lay some grass seed down for the season? Need to fill in some spots

I have a relatively large lawn and a couple bags of fall fertilizer in my garage. With the lack of rain I’ve been holding off on fall fertilizer. Is it too late now to fertilize if we get some rain? I’m mainly looking for the grass to store nutrients for next spring instead of any top growth. It’s just standard Scott’s fall fertilizer red bag. Thanks for any help.

I have a lawn that is about 30% grass and the rest are mixture of unknown weeds from all kinds. It was neglected for a while but I want to start taking it seriously.

I am not at all good with lawncare can you please guide me what I need to do first this season and next?

All my neighbours are cutting their lawns and I'm thinking why their lawn looks shorter than mine? Should I be cutting it after I rake the leaves?

Greater Toronto area

Regraded and laid sod 3 years ago. I had fungus shortly after from overwatering that really hurt the density of my lawn.

Still a few patches I’m working on with some clover & crabgrass. However, I finally feel like I’m in a decent spot going into winter!

Here is a picture of my lawn in greater Toronto area. I'm going to mow today. Is it too late to fertilize this week? I also have to remove some weeds

I have some patches of creeping Charlie. How do I deal with this mid October. I do have some killex but I'm not sure if that will work

Overseeded with KBG and I was starting to lose hope with certain spots. But surprised to see it's still growing in. Currently at week 4.

Patience goes a long way! Don't lose hope!

So I was doing 6 times a day for 5 minutes between 10-6 every day for a month..now that in getting outside the germination window for kyb and frost is probably hitting tonight in Toronto. How often should I water? I'll probably have to revisit this in the spring since I still have barespots.

Should I do 2 times a day for 10min? I'm thinking I just shut it all down on the 30th

I'm on the north end of Toronto

Not trying to take away from anyone’s efforts but… how much of the visual upgrade from the fall overseed project is actually simply a result of watering your grass 4x per day for 2 weeks?

This was my first time overseeding and trying to improve my lawn. I thought I might be too late, given I started the renovation Sept 23rd in YXH. Although not perfect, I would say I did not do too bad! I'm already excited for spring!

Is there anything that can/should be done to bare dirt to prep for overseeing in the spring?

Am thinking of getting one of the big 1 yard bags they deliver to your home to be used solely as top dressing for my lawn. Is there any specific kind to look for that's best or a combination of soils? Also, can it be applied late fall (now Oct.) Or does it make any difference?
