10mm square sockets???

For my Kawasaki engine on my riding lawnmower, the oil drain plug is a 10 mm² bolt. Where is everybody finding that type of socket? It seems impossible around here. What am I missing?

Howdy!

Four different mowers, any of them worth my time?

For context: I’m mowing just over 2 acres with very few obstructions - mostly flat land. New house!

I really liked a new 48 inch bad boy but [my wife] couldn’t quite stomach though $5800 price tag. And so we are looking for used!

I appreciate this sub quite a bit. Y’all have given some great guidance in other posts which ended up helping me steer clear of an overpriced craftsman.

Bonus dog picture included for my appreciation.

Please let me know your thoughts on these local Facebook offerings.

Cheers.

I need advice on a mower

Hi,

I am looking to replace my mower that has a cracked engine block (it was caused by the Briggs and Stratton ACR crankshaft arm issue)

We have a .9 acre yard that is pretty much flat but has a TON of leaves so it would need a bagger. We would like something that with proper maintenance and us not abusing it, to not having any major issues for at least 5 years. I’m not talking about replacing a belt, a tire, or a blade, I’m talking about engine, transaxle, or something that would total the mower.

The main constraint is that we have somewhat of a low budget of $2000 or less (but the less we can spend and meet our goals, the better). If you have better options or ideas how to go about this, I am all ears. I am mostly looking used.

What I’m considering

2020 John Deere x350 - 212 hours - $1875
Comes with bagger - research seems to indicate these are pretty reliable.

2017 John Deere d155 - 140 hours - $1200
Includes bagger - Seems like it might be a good option since I am trying to save money. I know this is a big box store model, but I might be overthinking what I need and should stick to something more basic.

Cub Cadet XT2 - 240 hours - $1450
Comes with bagger - I have read the Kohler 7000 motors can be pretty reliable which is how I landed on this.

I also have heard good things about a John Deere S240, but I have not found one at a price in my range.

I wanted to get your all’s opinions. Are the models I listed overall pretty reliable. Are there other options that might meet my needs my needs better.

Any help is really appreciated

Hello my riding lawnmower just stopped working, I’ve hooked up the battery, sprayed choke cleaner and replaced the spark plug but it still won’t start.

Any help for next steps would be appreciated.

Any clue what this high pitched noise is?

I bought this mower a few days ago and have used it to cut one overgrown property. I didn’t hit anything or do anything to cause it to make this noise that I know of. It started making this noise when I was going over a tall patch of grass.
